    Not So Easy..

    • Written by from Knoxville

Yeah, I'm 15. Technology is my life. I bought this when I bought my MacBook Pro, and they said it would be easy to setup. My Netgear router was a lot easier to set up than this. I still love the form factor of it though. It provides the comfort of wireless printing and the comfort of AirTunes, which I love!

    Power plug to large

    • Written by from Little Rock

I read some have problem with their power plug being to large to use cat 5 into WAN port. Google "YL-113L" for a smaller power plug that may work. The product has been great as my new travel router so far. Using an old Case Logic CD case I carry the router, cat 5 and power cables.

    Less portable

    • Written by from Lafayette

This unit is meant to be stationary it seems...only less portable because you need to carry an extra power cable. That doesn't matter so much because I carried an extra extension cable for my previous model Express. If it bothers you, keep your old Express and travel with that. It is still a great piece.

    Mac for setup required

    • Written by from Bronx

So I received this great product from my beautiful wife "BB" for fathers day...any who, i was excited! I wanted to setup the Airport Express right away, which i thought would take me just a couple of minutes. Lets just say this wasn't as fast to set up as Apple stated. After trying to use my iPad to setup, i finally resulted to using my MacBook. Pros: Using Airport Utility on my Macbook lets me easily change the channels for less-congested wifi. Plus, my internet is now quicker, (maybe cause i had a $20 router). Cons: I was only able to set up with my Macbook. I was unable to set up with iPad/iPhone. This took me about 15 minutes.

I love the included Ethernet port, but not crazy about the cable

    • Written by from Chicago

I have had 2008 AirPort Express since it was first released and has been a steady companion with me for my travel.

Now that I don't travel anymore, I have used it to extend my network (I live in a brick building house with multiple of small rooms) for my Time Capsule where it is in my work room and the signal diminish when I go outside my house, front and back.

I had always wanted to buy another one so that I can put one in the back, and one in the front so whether I'm in my back yard or out in my front lawn, I will get strong signal. However, I waited for a refresh as I had a feeling one was coming up soon anyway.

Anyway, with this refresh, I decided to put this newer model closer to my backyard and connected the now included Ethernet port to a switch so visitors who need to plug in can use that instead of the wireless.

The only thing I didn't like, was the design of this new model. My 2008 version has the AC plug built-in, where as the new model comes with a cable to connect to my AC outlet. It is another piece of item that I must carry when I travel. Did they forget the name of the product is "Express" where as it will be used for travelling? I didn't mind too much about the size, though, it is only 1/4 larger than my 2008 Express.

I too off 1 star (there's no 1/2 option) specifically for this con. Other than that, like I said, I now love the included Ethernet port. If this one is as heavy duty as my original Express, which I think it will be, then this is another awesome Apple product.
