Using the MTP has been easy. In fact, it makes everything easier. I'm a graphic and web designer and no, it isn't for use with graphics software like photoshop, illustrator, etc. but that's not what this is for. This is for moving flawlessly through your mac, in between desktops or applications, and great when surfing the web. It responds in real time and it is extremely accurate. There are so many things you can do with it. I strongly recommend it. You won't regret it. Get it today...

I was told by a fellow photographer friend that I should have the Magic Trackpad because it would make my workflow go so much easier ( I use Adobe Lightroom ). I was having trouble with the MM as well as my Wacom tablet (using the pen) when adjusting. I use the Magic Mouse as well and when I got it I was very pleased by what that could do however I just received my Magic Trackpad today and can say it does a lot more. It make my work flow with LR extremely easy and just using my computer for anything has made me more "one with the computer" Best $ I have spent yet. Apple (Steve Jobs etc) is/are amazing.

It took more than 3 months to get used to the Trackpad. The ergonomics is much more different than using a mouse (or a normal laptop pad), and I had to change the way I position and use my hand in order to eliminate the pain in my wrist when using the Trackpad. It's still a bit painful but in month or two, I figure it will disappear.

If you eliminate the painful adaptation to the new ergonomics, this product is a real blast (when used with compatible software). Navigating, selecting, and all the operation that you normally do with a mouse are now much more intuitive.

The only thing this product is not good at is gaming. A mouse (or a gamepad) is still the best choice for it.

A word of advice: if you are used to work with a trackpad on a normal laptop (not from apple), forget how you work with it and adopt the Trackpad's way. For example, at first, I was using the single tap to generate a click, which is a mistake for me because I was forced to lift my index finger which cause wrist pain after a while. Now, I click by pressing down on the trackpad with my thumb.

Conclusion: superb product, but we must adapt to the new egonomics

The ONLY thing I dislike about the trackpad is that there is NO SENSITIVITY setting for tapping nor touching. MS Windows has it for their 'pads' . It's very frustrating when anyone accidentally brushes a body part on the pad & something unintentional or unexpected happens on my iMac screen! (like when my grandkids are here!). I bought the magic mouse because they dropped my 1st wireless mouse many times until it broke, so I bought the trackpad as a backup. How difficult can it be to write an update adding this almost imperative feature to the trackpad? Otherwise it's a perfect product. PLEASE HELP.

I have to admit Magic Trackpad is one amazing accessory. I'm using this on an iMac running OS X: Lion and browsing the web and computer has never been as simple. I love the multi touch features: saves a lot of time (iOS like feeling) and helps keeping everything organized. I have new use for Mission Control (aka Spaces).

I recommend this to anyone, though I recommend keeping the mouse handy because you may find using it easier for graphic designing or gaming.

I've used the Magic Trackpad for several months now. My wrist started hurting just days into use. I bought a mouse pad with a wrist rest on it, had to cut off the rest of the pad because the cushion rendered the buttons underneath non-functional. That seemed to help for a while, but a few months of using this device have left my forearm in serious fatigue and even pain at times. It almost seems like the batteries should be flipped to the wrist end of the trackpad. It would give the heel of your hand something to rest on. I give up. I'm buying a Magic Mouse.

Upgraded my 2007 Intel Core 2 Duo to Lion and wanted the benefit of the swipe features. I bought the track pad 2 days later. I can't believe how much faster and more precise the track pad performs. My wife took to the track pad immediately which is proof that it is designed with everyone in mind. Thanks Apple for another job well done.

The bad - It took me 3 days to learn how to drag, because nowhere does the manual explain that the two round feet under the front of the pad are buttons that need to be depressed in order to drag objects or select text.

Is it really that hard to explain things?

The good - other than that, it's a wonderful tool for navigating the new Lion OS. Gestures feel so natural. I love the fact that you no longer have to mouse over to a specific button or bar to go somewhere or do something. A simple swipe of your fingers, and you're there.

Postscript - there is a preference that allows for three-fingered gestures to be used for dragging, however, that takes away the ability of that same gesture being used to switch across full-screen apps, and I had a very difficult time getting that same feature to work with four-fingered swipes.

Just remember to press down on those front feet and you'll be fine.

I have an iMac 5.1 that I updated to the new Lion and wanted to use the neat multi-touch features. My machine recognizes the trackpad just fine with Bluetooth, but it functions as a single button trackpad. It won't even scroll. The old USB GlidePoint is much more functional. I am sure it is great for some machines, but apparently not the older ones.
