I played with the trackpad at the Apple Store a few months ago. Absolutely loved it and it feels like it is more precise than moving a mouse around. The only reason I won't buy it is because it runs on batteries. I really wish Apple made a USB version.

    Non tech solution

I bought my Magic Track Pad yesterday and have been really impressed with it. I have arthritis and the mouse was becoming a problem. It took a little while to get used to and I am still in the learning mode. There were many comments about the slant and several solutions in the reviews. I tried turning it around and still was not right for me. I put a paper pad (my 6' x4" new post-it pad sacrificed for the cause) just slightly larger then the trackpad underneath it to level it off. I put my bean bag wrist support next to it at the bottom and I am good to go. I had already been using my wireless keypad that way - so it was level so not surprising I would prefer that position. I think this position also makes the push down clicking easier. For people with hand issues these little adjustments can make a difference.

I just picked this up today, very cool. No more scrubbing the mighty mouse rollerball on a sheet of paper to get it to work. Looks nice on my desk. Mighty mouse went straight to the old mac box collection in the garage. I wish I wouldn't have waited so long, for the money this is a no brainer.

    Bring on the multitouch

When I bought the Magic Mouse over a year ago, I thought I'd never need another desktop control peripheral again. I just received my Magic Trackpad in the mail last night and I'm already in love. The fact that the thing is so large is a huge plus. It uses all of the same functionality of the trackpads of the MacBook line, but wirelessly and in a larger size. As someone with larger hands, this makes multitouch gestures so much easier than on a MacBook's smaller trackpad. That being said, the Magic Trackpad really is the future of user-computer interface. With the release of OX Lion coming sometime this summer, multi-touch is becoming one of most important aspects of interface Apple will be focussing on with all they've learned with iPad and iPhone. Having tested Lion with a basic MacBook trackpad, I can tell that using the Magic Trackpad will be the ONLY way to go with OSX Lion.

My Story. I really wanted this thing from the first day it came out and saw all the good reviews it was getting, and then I forgot about it. I think because I started a new job as a designer and thought that my Magic Mouse was the perfect mouse I bought one eight hours ago and have used it all day with the same powerful workflow that I get from any mouse out there. The gestures are seamless, the pad is PERFECT size and weight. I think I will not be using a mouse for a while after this great product!

I recently bought this item on Boxing Day and have had it for a couple of days now. Just had to write a review because it is amazing. Its responsive, doesn't disconnect at all, easy to use and set up, and looks and works great with the Apple wireless keyboard. The only problem with it was clicking and select things. To solve this, just go on System Preferences, Trackpad, and select "Tap to click".

Overall, great product, highly responsive and highly recommend using with the wireless keyboard. Worth the money and great quality.

I can swipe pages. I can scroll. I like it so much!!! But it does not replace a mouse. I have a wired mighty mouse.

Only Apple Could Make The Mouse Obsolete!

This is probably, in my opinion, the single best leap forward to best the typical mouse in the history of peripherals! I have for years wondered why someone hadn't taken the trackpad from a laptop and made it available alone for any desktop. Well from the maker of the almighty "mouse" comes it's absolute replacement for any desktop Mac or Windows driven. It makes using my iMac 27" (current model as of February 6th, 2012) so much easier and intuitive. Which is what Apple does best, making products we all want to use and own. Mac's look good and even better are stable, IMO the most stable and intuitive, and safe way to get yourself online.

No Windows based computer or laptop could or can come close to the ease of use and intelligence in it's operating system. A system that Windows continues to try and copy over and over with every new version. Mac OS Lion is superb and really has this new track pad in mind since it has so many different ways to swipe, crunch, widen, and my favorite--flip back and forward between website pages. With just a flip of the finger you can go forward or back between pages. Instead of using the mouse to move back and forth or move the cursor to pick the forward or backward arrow on the top of the browser.

Love this product beyond words and once again made by Apple. As is most things that are truly intuitive and made for people to use easily. The Magic Trackpad redefines how we do something so simple in our everyday online time.

wWay to go Apple. Great product an really makes me scratch my head as to why someone else hadn't perfected the replacement of a mouse. But then again who else was going to do this? Certainly nothing from the Labs (and I use that term loosely) of Microsoft. Lol. Sorry to be such an obvious fanboy for Apple but lets be real, there's a reason that Apple as a company is growing in leaps and bounds.

    After 20+ years ...

After more than 20 years of working with PC mice, the purchase of the Magic Trackpad with a (first) MacBook Pro purchase five months ago was an incredible revelation. Silent. Smooth and perfectly integrated with Lion. No movement on desk. No crud on mouse. Touching more natural than twisting your wrist. Note: this trackpad can be placed in the correct location to the right or left of your (bluetooth) keyboard. Thus it is possible to comfortably and rapidly use your index finger(s) on it. In contrast, the trackpad built into the current MacBook Pro lines under the keyboard in the center seems stiff, noisy, and is best tamed using a heavy touch with your thumb. If you use a MacBook with external keyboard (bluetooth highly recommended) and an external monitor, then you need this trackpad pure and simple. Computing got more fun and wrist pain is gone.

I spend an enormous amount of time working behind my mac, mostly all business. I always suffer somewhat with pain in both the arm and wrist from too much mousing. I tried an ergonomic mouse and found it did help somewhat but hated its accuracy and overall ability compared to the magic mouse. I bought the trackpad and WOW! Beautiful! Situate the preference window for the track pad next to the document you are working on so you can continually go back to the settings for adjustments as you learn its movements. Give it time. I keep the mouse next to it for CAD and BIM but otherwise I have completely reverted over to the pad. No more wrist and arm pain! Thank you MAC.

I finally pried open my wallet to get the trackpad and it was soooo worth it!! It works so much better than the magic mouse ever did. Totally easy to set up and use. It took me about 10 seconds to get used to using it. Buy this product - you won't regret it.

I was hesitant to move up from my Mighty Mouse because I really liked the multiple functions of it (moving between spaces and exposing all open windows with separate function clicks), but I did it because of the problems with the scroll ball. I AM IN LOVE! At first I felt like the touch-to-tap was too sensitive so I turned it off and used only the click. This was fine but because I had to be clicking tons in my work I went back after a few weeks and since my hand had gotten used to using the trackpad, an unwanted stray tap was almost unheard of. Makes computer use so easy, nice big area, comfortable, convenient, minimal hand strain, and just wonderful all around. The battery life is nice and long (thanks auto-off!) so I don't have to change batteries often, even using rechargeable batteries. While my husband thought I just wanted it to have the latest gadget from Apple (that too), it was TOTALLY worth it and I can't imagine using a mouse again.

It was a little uncomfortable moving the mouse around my tiny desk. Especially, after I hooked up my 32inch HD TV to my iMac as a second Monitor.
The Magic Track Pad took care of the problem.
I don't even use my mouse anymore.
    Won't regret!!!!!

Replaced a wired mouse with the trackpad and couldn't be happier. Now on the non-Mac users in my office want one. Very pleased and very easy to install. One caveat, must have Snow Leopard.....

I had some reservations about purchasing the magic trackpad but boy am I glad that I did! First of all, the size is perfect, larger than the trackpad on my macbook pro but not so big that it get's in the way. I have 2 24" monitors and there's no problem getting from one side to another. The glass has a good feel when using it. Some people have complained about the touch to click not working correctly, but it's working perfectly for me. If you're not into the touch to click, the normal click is good too. Having the gestures on my mac pro is awesome. I didn't know what I was missing!

Great product... Loving this with my iMac. Bye bye mouse! I wanted something that was like my MacBook Pro's trackpad, and Apple nailed it. It's motion less, so takes up less space on my desk. Multi touch gestures makes computing a breeze. I recommend this product.

The Magic Mouse is a step ahead of a regular mouse, but the Trackpad for an IMac desktop is great buy for the money. Very nice and I definitely recommend it to anyone who may be considering it. I am still using both right now, but if I bought a new system tomorrow, I would more than likely just buy the trackpad.
