I really enjoy using the the Magic Trackpad on my MacBook. Although, there's a weird side effect that compelled me to purchase the wireless keypad as well:

After installing the Magic Trackpad software update, the MacBook trackpad has picked up some of the characteristics, such as tap to click. The result is that when typing on the MacBook's keyboard (not wireless keyboard), my palm touches the MacBook trackpad and causes the cursor to jump around the page. If I'm not watching, the input gets badly garbled. If I'm closely watching the screen, I end fixing the text and moving the cursor to where it was intended (very annoying). Hmm, maybe the Apple software engineers could offer users the choice of disabling the MacBook trackpad when the Magic Trackpad is connected, as well as using different settings than the Magic Trackpad. As of now, when the Magic Trackpad is disconnected, and I want to use the MacBook keypad, the trackpad settings need to be changed to minimize cursor dislocation problems.

Apple rushed the product manual out without instructions for finding the software to make the trackpad work or even show up in system preferences. It was quite difficult to find. After purchasing and installing Snow Leopard (and upgrading the software for it) I still could not get it to function. I finally found the trackpad software in the U.S. store under products update DL1066. Once I got it paired in Bluetooth it worked as advertised! Fantastic! This is a big improvement over the mighty mouse.
I hope this saves everyone the hassle I had. A big "oops" for Apple not posting a caveat.

Everything it says it does, it really does. A lovely instruction video is a big step forward. In my home, with my old Mac Pro, I have to set speed, double click speed etc. to extreme values, but it works. The only problem is the sensitivity of the one finger touch. Perhaps my room is too humid or too dry such that static electricity is active, but when one finger touch is active, I get lots of unwanted actions. Maybe there will be a software fix or a new sensitivity button

Add drivers so it can be used on apple tv and the ipad

I am huge fan of this device. It's totally replaced the mouse for my desktop systems. Using the trackpad to control the pointer is much more effortless then having to move the mouse and gestures provide a considerably increased level of control and thus productivity.

It did take a while to get accuracy up to the level of a mouse with a high quality mousing surface but the learning curve is worth it.

The only thing I think is holding this product back is the fact additional gesture controls cannot be configured without 3rd party software (which, although effective, does not have the same recognition accuracy as apple build technology).

We bought this because my other half was tired of going from mouse to his multi touch pad on his macbook pro. This was a better solution than toting a mouse everywhere with the laptop. A seamless transition once the drivers had been downloaded.

nice large ultra-responsive trackpad. easy to scroll and work with. my 14 month used to play with the magic mouse and had beaten, eaten and destroyed it almost to death. Cometh the trackpad, she doesnt care much for it and just scratches it a few times, looks uninterested in it and goes away to let me go about my buisness. whew. thanks apple for providing a good alternative. other trackpads are so tiny and useless that you need to scroll twice across to get to the screen. this one covers the whole 52 inch tv screen in one scroll. good buy.

After trying the Trackpad in the Apple Store and wondering if I'd get used to it, I have to say that after half a day the Magic Trackpad won me over. I wasn't sure about it because it's the same game as the trackpad on my Macbook Pro - I've been a mouse lover my whole computer life. But the difference is the increased tapping area due it's bigger size over the one on my MBPro. The gestures are so useful and my iMac actually seems faster to me because the tapping is faster than clicking on the mouse! A winner! Give it a try... you'll love it!

After 5 days of use, im begining to get comfortable using it.
My main concern was how comfortable it would be to use since I didn't really enjoy the low profile feel of the magic mouse.

Initially, I wanted to rest my entire hand on the trackpad. This worked, but I felt like I had to be too careful not to move my other fingers, or I would get unstable results. Doing this left me felling somewhat tense while using the trackpad.

Today, I started resting my hand on the desk while only using my index finger to navigate the trackpad. This seems to be the most comfortable, and accurate way to use the trackpad. I'm finding this to be the most effortless way to navigate a computer.

I love the 4 finger swipes to get to other running applications or to get to the desktop.

I like the idea of making everything wirelessly, if you are trying to have Wireless Bluetooth headset with all your wireless input device. You would not have a clean connection to Stereo audio. even my Mac mini is sitting 1 feet in front of my headset. Mono sound however still acceptable. must be something to do with the bandwidth. I still give 4 stars because the Trackpad itself is amazing, however, the missing one star is that I still couldn't think of a better way NOT to use a mouse with Illustrator.... yet.
