This device eats AA batteries which must be periodically replaced or recharged. Even worse, the pad's response time is slightly slower than the pad on a Macbook Pro, which makes navigation annoying.

I love the trackpad on my MacBook Pro, and I hate my Apple Magic mouse, so I decided to get this one for use when my MacBook Pro is docked. I thought this trackpad was a no-brainer and was sure it would be great. Unfortunately I was quite wrong.

There's no place to rest the hand/fingers on this trackpad, so it's very tiring on the hand after a few minutes of use. I constantly find myself searching for a place to rest my fingers, but obviously if you touch the surface, that registers as a mouse move or click. Very annoying. The surface area is much bigger than the trackpad on the MacBooks, and is larger than the size of my palm (I have normal sized hands), so I can't hug around it either without at least a few fingers touching the surface. Its being elevated off the desk doesn't help things either.

Aside from that major issue, the surface is actually very good, cursor tracking is very accurate, multi-finger gestures work really well, software support is great, i.e. it's an excellent piece of technology with a bad / non-ergonomic design. I would have liked it much better if the active area was smaller and the borders had bands of non-sensitive areas where one could rest his(or her) fingers. I'll see if I can attach something to it to that effect, though we shouldn't need to do that.

I love the Magic Trackpad. I am right handed, and my right hand has limited use and movement, and I find that the trackpad works awesome, since I can just use the two fingers that work well on my right hand instead of the whole hand to move the mouse.

I think I have fallen in love with my macbook again. After my trackpad started acting up, and I was too lazy to go to an apple store to get a check through the genius bar, I ordered the magic trackpad hoping it would be in the least a short-term solution.

Turns out, I love it even more!! Was easy to set up and use, essentially a slightly bigger version of the laptop's trackpad and iOS so I could seamlessly integrate the same preferences that I was already used to

I wanted this trackpad, as I am not that into mouses, and also liked the multitouch gestures and wanted to use them for my desktop. Let me tell you, the trackpad is amazing, and if there is a gesture you don't like you can turn it off. It works beautifully with only one drawback so far, once and a while it will stall doing certain actions. So far the battery life has been amazing (much better than my wireless keyboard, the multitouch gestures, including the ability to look stuff up in the dictionary works seamlessly with the computer. Overall this is a great product for the money and if you want to use your multitouch gestures like the ones you use on the macbook on your desktop, get the track pad.

This Magic Trackpad can do Chinese handwriting recognition. After I connected the trackpad to the iMac, I can handwrite on the trackpad for Chinese input. It is wonderful to use Chinese on the iMac. No more typing on the keyboard via Zhuyin input.

I stumbled upon the Magic Trackpad at work as a co-worker had one on his desk. I tried it out and went out that afternoon and bought one as I had been looking to replace the terrible wireless mouse that came with my iMac. The Magic Trackpad is amazing! No more mousing over to the scroll bar and clicking to scroll. No need to use the back and forth buttons on the web browser to browse through web pages, the Magic Trackpad does all this and more with simple finger gestures. The Magic Trackpad is very well built and looks great. It really is an impressive piece of Apple engineering at a great price.

I was so disappointed. I changed the batteries but still no life in it. It could be that because I didn't use it for long periods of time, it had some corrosion issues with the batteries and that killed the trackpad.

Tempermental. Worked about 70% of the time, which means it does not work for 30% of the time impacting efficiency significantly. I threw it in the garbage. Apple quality is taking a real turn for the worse. Hopefully Samsung will make a compatible trackpad and I can integrate that. For now I have gone back to a wired mouse on my $5k MacBook Pro and Thunderbolt display.

I've been using a plain old scroll mouse with a wire for years ... connectivity isn't an issue and there are no batteries to worry about. But when Lion killed the driver for my favorite mouse, I thought it might be time to move into the future and try this trackpad. I'm glad I did! From the first moment I used it I loved the smart way that the entire case pushes down to perform a click (the glass trackpad on my MacBook Pro requires a harder press that tires my hand). I'm also able to use tap-to-click on this trackpad with no problems, even though that caused lots of unwanted clicks on my MacBook Pro. And of course the added gestures like swiping left and right to change pages in Safari adds a level of productivity that my old mouse couldn't offer.

With Apple's rechargeable battery kit, I get about three weeks on a charge, and I can rotate a fresh pair of batteries into the unit in about a minute.

My only compliant is that the trackpad occasionally loses its Bluetooth connection to my computer ... it will disconnect, then reconnect again 10 seconds later, maybe once or twice a week. It's not a big deal, but surprising because the Apple wireless keyboard sitting right next to it has never had this problem. I'm leaving out one star for that reason.

Otherwise it's a fine product and I wouldn't want to go back to a normal mouse again.
