    The killer mouse replacement.

I'm a long-time laptop user and hate using a mouse (even for design work). The magic trackpad is exactly what I've been waiting for. I have my laptop on a stand and use the bluetooth keyboard and magic trackpad. I've also got another trackpad for my iMac at home.... No more need for a mouse - ever!!! One trick about the setup. Once you connect the trackpad via bluetooth you have to run a software update to get the whole range of options. Bit of a hassle but well worth it.

    Bye Bye Mouse

I've been using my Magic Trackpad for two weeks now and it has performed flawlessly. There is pretty much no adjustment period required and I find my hand takes less strain versus a mouse. In conjunction with the wireless keyboard it looks great and gives a sleek look to my desk (not that the new wireless mouse is any less sleek mind you). I find it is really easy to scroll, enlarge, and generally navigate on pages with the Magic Trackpad and have no hesitation in recommending it.

Great for consumer use. Not for graphic designers.

I bought it an was torn between the fact that I love how smooth an effortless it feels and yet how I just can't get over the fact that it doesn't work well for precision or even standard graphic program (Photoshop, etc.) handling. And that's a necessity for us graphic folks.

I almost wish I was just your regular/average computer user so I could just enjoy it. It would easily replace my mouse if that were the case.

Great scrolling and glide effects, btw. feels like butter.

It's the beginning of the end for the mouse!

I saw this coming out and I just received it and it is worth every penny. I have a magic mouse but this is much better and more comfortable. I was concerned about having to remember all of the different steps (movements) with the Trackpad but so far it has been easy and you can also do some stuff with a single finger and you don't need two fingers for the basics. No more worrying about dragging the mouse - nothing! I actually turned off my magic mouse and I don't think that I'll be using it much but I'll leave it out for my kids to still use. You can also use both (mouse and trackpad) at the same time! Thank you Apple - it's awesome. The Magic Trackpad is a whole new experience and it's great! Leave it to Apple - thank you again!

Best Mac accessory I have ever owned!!!

As someone who has been using Apple products since 1985 or so it goes without saying I have used my share of Apple products. The Magic Trackpad is, by far, my favorite Mac accessory I have ever owned. I already use a MacBook Pro with multi touch of course running Mountain Lion for work so the gestures have long since become second nature. But when I purchased my brand new Quad Core i7 Mac Mini and was using my old Mighty Mouse (yes Mighty, not Magic) it was like stepping back in time and while my Mighty Mouse served me well for a long time I knew I needed the upgrade. Holy moly am I glad I did. For one the build of it, like everything Apple really, is just so solid and legit. The design is beautiful and simplistic, again like all things Apple and the responsiveness is just astounding. And again, I am someone who is certainly not new to the product. Truly the Magic Trackpad lives up to its name. Couple all of that with the excellent gestures built in to Mountain Lion and this is, hands down, my favorite Mac accessory ever. A+++. Thank you Apple for making my life better and easier once again.

Far superior to the mouse in most situations

I just purchased this item and already it is much easier to use than even the Magic Mouse. I will still keep my mouse for the few applications that require it, but I adore the trackpad. It is comfortable to use and the gestures, once you learn them, are highly intuitive. Finally a trackpad for a desktop computer! A+, Apple!

I played with the trackpad at the Apple Store a few months ago. Absolutely loved it and it feels like it is more precise than moving a mouse around. The only reason I won't buy it is because it runs on batteries. I really wish Apple made a USB version.

I have been a Mac fan forever and ever.
This device is a major disappointment: the first.
If you look beyond the uniformly rave reviews displayed on the Apple Store site and into the forums, you will find that a lot of folks are having endless troubles with this. I have been using it 2 weeks. It will do almost everything except let me select text (part of a line or paragraph) and then move it somewhere else ––rather basic!
The ergonomics are bad. I'm back to RSI pain.
If you don't hate your mouse, think twice.
    Good luck to you.

I found this product to be unusable. I may be too clumsy, but the sensitivity to inadvertent touches etc drove me nuts. I should have saved my money.

I bought my Magic Track Pad yesterday and have been really impressed with it. I have arthritis and the mouse was becoming a problem. It took a little while to get used to and I am still in the learning mode. There were many comments about the slant and several solutions in the reviews. I tried turning it around and still was not right for me. I put a paper pad (my 6' x4" new post-it pad sacrificed for the cause) just slightly larger then the trackpad underneath it to level it off. I put my bean bag wrist support next to it at the bottom and I am good to go. I had already been using my wireless keypad that way - so it was level so not surprising I would prefer that position. I think this position also makes the push down clicking easier. For people with hand issues these little adjustments can make a difference.

I just picked this up today, very cool. No more scrubbing the mighty mouse rollerball on a sheet of paper to get it to work. Looks nice on my desk. Mighty mouse went straight to the old mac box collection in the garage. I wish I wouldn't have waited so long, for the money this is a no brainer.

    Bring on the multitouch

When I bought the Magic Mouse over a year ago, I thought I'd never need another desktop control peripheral again. I just received my Magic Trackpad in the mail last night and I'm already in love. The fact that the thing is so large is a huge plus. It uses all of the same functionality of the trackpads of the MacBook line, but wirelessly and in a larger size. As someone with larger hands, this makes multitouch gestures so much easier than on a MacBook's smaller trackpad. That being said, the Magic Trackpad really is the future of user-computer interface. With the release of OX Lion coming sometime this summer, multi-touch is becoming one of most important aspects of interface Apple will be focussing on with all they've learned with iPad and iPhone. Having tested Lion with a basic MacBook trackpad, I can tell that using the Magic Trackpad will be the ONLY way to go with OSX Lion.

My Story. I really wanted this thing from the first day it came out and saw all the good reviews it was getting, and then I forgot about it. I think because I started a new job as a designer and thought that my Magic Mouse was the perfect mouse I bought one eight hours ago and have used it all day with the same powerful workflow that I get from any mouse out there. The gestures are seamless, the pad is PERFECT size and weight. I think I will not be using a mouse for a while after this great product!

I recently bought this item on Boxing Day and have had it for a couple of days now. Just had to write a review because it is amazing. Its responsive, doesn't disconnect at all, easy to use and set up, and looks and works great with the Apple wireless keyboard. The only problem with it was clicking and select things. To solve this, just go on System Preferences, Trackpad, and select "Tap to click".

Overall, great product, highly responsive and highly recommend using with the wireless keyboard. Worth the money and great quality.

Only Apple Could Make The Mouse Obsolete!

This is probably, in my opinion, the single best leap forward to best the typical mouse in the history of peripherals! I have for years wondered why someone hadn't taken the trackpad from a laptop and made it available alone for any desktop. Well from the maker of the almighty "mouse" comes it's absolute replacement for any desktop Mac or Windows driven. It makes using my iMac 27" (current model as of February 6th, 2012) so much easier and intuitive. Which is what Apple does best, making products we all want to use and own. Mac's look good and even better are stable, IMO the most stable and intuitive, and safe way to get yourself online.

No Windows based computer or laptop could or can come close to the ease of use and intelligence in it's operating system. A system that Windows continues to try and copy over and over with every new version. Mac OS Lion is superb and really has this new track pad in mind since it has so many different ways to swipe, crunch, widen, and my favorite--flip back and forward between website pages. With just a flip of the finger you can go forward or back between pages. Instead of using the mouse to move back and forth or move the cursor to pick the forward or backward arrow on the top of the browser.

Love this product beyond words and once again made by Apple. As is most things that are truly intuitive and made for people to use easily. The Magic Trackpad redefines how we do something so simple in our everyday online time.

wWay to go Apple. Great product an really makes me scratch my head as to why someone else hadn't perfected the replacement of a mouse. But then again who else was going to do this? Certainly nothing from the Labs (and I use that term loosely) of Microsoft. Lol. Sorry to be such an obvious fanboy for Apple but lets be real, there's a reason that Apple as a company is growing in leaps and bounds.

    After 20+ years ...

After more than 20 years of working with PC mice, the purchase of the Magic Trackpad with a (first) MacBook Pro purchase five months ago was an incredible revelation. Silent. Smooth and perfectly integrated with Lion. No movement on desk. No crud on mouse. Touching more natural than twisting your wrist. Note: this trackpad can be placed in the correct location to the right or left of your (bluetooth) keyboard. Thus it is possible to comfortably and rapidly use your index finger(s) on it. In contrast, the trackpad built into the current MacBook Pro lines under the keyboard in the center seems stiff, noisy, and is best tamed using a heavy touch with your thumb. If you use a MacBook with external keyboard (bluetooth highly recommended) and an external monitor, then you need this trackpad pure and simple. Computing got more fun and wrist pain is gone.

    Smooth Perfection

I haven't used a traditional mouse in months - I'll never go back. I've been wishing for this since getting the Macbook Pro because I fell in love with the trackpad. I bought the external to use at work because there I hook my macbook pro to a monitor so it's more functional to use a mouse (track-pad) set up. Once you get used to using a track pad, using a traditional mouse feels clunky and awkward.

The only drawback to the external track pad is that it doesn't allow for all the gestures that the track pad on the macbook pro does... i.e.: Four fingers upward will not reveal the desktop ribbon. But the majority of the gestures work just fine.

    Love it!
