i like it a lot but one thing i would like it to do is scroll when you move your finger around the wheel, like on the ipod because i find it easier to look through music and find the right song. i think that apple has made another great product! fits nice in your hand and i like the quick access to front row when you press menu!

Does not work with iPhone alone.

I wanted the remote to be able to control the iPhone when docked on a stereo base. Unfortunately in order to control the iPhone via this remote you need the iPhone docking base. I wish the guy at the apple store would have told me that when i asked him. All in all, remote looks and works great but just not with the iPhone. "If only the iPhone had an IR reciever".....

My Apple Remote works very well. I can now sit in bed and list to some music on iTunes without even getting up. The Apple Remote has a wonderfully slim design and I'd recommend it to anyone buying a new Mac. I love how it matches my new 15-inch MacBook Pro! :)

I was really excited to get the new version because i had the previous one. When i got it, it seemed so cool, but it was weirder to use than the old one. I find myself pressing the menu button instead of the center button often, and it is heard to find buttons in general. The old one was much easier to use, but not as attractive. Now that i lost the old one, i guess i will have to deal with the new one.

It should have volume control. Otherwise, it's very good.

I received the Apple Remote as a gift. It is a lot easier to use from the previous version. It's durable with a sleek design. It has allowed me to use Front Row with ease along with controlling the volume from a distance. I would recommend this product to an Apple user. For the price you can beat it.

I bought this remote today and I absolutely love it! the plastic case it was in was slim, but once out of the packaging this thing feels just awesome in your hand. function may take some getting used to, I find myself accidentally pushing the center button while using the arrow wheel, it seems rather unnecessary since there's now a button with the same function to the right of the menu. even with that I would absolutely recommend this remote over the ugly white plastic remote that came with the apple tv or your mac.

Remote works great as advertised. A MAJOR suggestion for improvement would be to add an integrated laser pointer. That is all this product is missing.

    Hard to press buttons.

The remote is beautiful in every respect except usage. Pressing buttons is hard because of the lack of tactile differentiation. The main issue is with the directional buttons vs the center button. If one is not looking it's easy to confuse them and press the wrong button. So you might find yourself having to look at the remote to see where you are pressing.

That's unacceptable. There is no reason Apple can't make a remote that's tactile enough to easily differentiate among keys and easily press without looking. Actually they did, the old Apple remote works perfectly in this regard.

Once again Apple has managed to take the simple and keep it there. A simple remote control milled from a single piece of aluminum - it really feels good in your hands - brilliant.

Great product!! Fits nicely in your hand. It has a quality feel to it. Worked with my MacBook and Apple TV without a problem. Jonathan did another great job designing this masterpiece. Can't wait to get my iMac! Keep up the great work!

Everyone knows that Apple make great products. This remote control looks like it should be another one. It feels great in your hand, has a nice weight and matches the new macbook perfectly, which is nice. I ordered my one from this website and when it arrived (the first working day after purchase) it worked perfectly. It was really easy to link up to my laptop and it started working straight away! The only problem is that it stopped working again almost as fast. I've had it for about 10 hours now and it barely works... It feels like it might be out of battery. You only get anything at all from it if you hold it 6 inches from the computer and even then, you get a response from every 12th jam on the button or so. The only thing that stopped me from smashing it was the thought that if it should then somehow miraculously start working again it would be damaged and the fact that ending with the words, "... then I smashed it." might hurt my story when it comes to getting a free shiny new one. I'm really just venting frustration here and i'm sure this is a one off (otherwise this page would be full of angry reviews) so I wouldn't go on this when deciding whether to buy or not. In the short time it was functioning properly, it was good! It works with iTunes and "Front Row" as well as "Keynote" presentations so its perfect. The buttons are a little on the small side. I don't have ridiculous hands and I feel like i'm pressing two buttons at once sometimes but its a good product and i'm sure it's handy when it works.

It has an incredibly pleasing feel to it. It is a same functioning design as the cheap plastic one, usually included with purchase of the Apple TV or Mac Book Pro, but the beauty of this Remote is hard to describe. You will love it.

    Ergonomically unusable for home theater

    • Written by from San Luis Obispo

This new remote is not usable for home theater. It's difficult to not press the main function ring and the new select/enter button at the same time because the new ring is not raised like it was in the previous white remote. The complete lack of tactile differentiation to discern between these two choices (i.e., ring or select) makes the remote unusable in a darkened home theater.

    Key color

While I agree that the remote is nicely designed, the black keys do not coordinate with the keyboard, and I wonder why they did this. Actually, I would have preferred a black key keyboard with the aluminum, matching the black Apple logo of my new iMac, but with the white keys, I would have now preferred white buttons on the remote. I realize this is nit-picking, but Apple is all about design continuation.
