    TOO SMALL!

    • Written by from Prattville

Please, I'm begging, make it bigger next time or design an attachment to make it bigger. Or, how about a tracking device? I lose this at least once a day and have lost 2 permanently.

    Lousy

    • Written by from Reno

First of all, the Apple remote (new) and my Macbook Pro Retina (new) will not pair. Nothing shows up and instructions stink ( why not show visual as to which buttons to press and where to aim it?). After trying to "pair" the remote and Mac for 45 minutes (nothing hallens), I give up. A waste of $20 for the remote. It occurs to me that I might have a bad battery and if this is the case (new remote should NOT have a bad battery), why doesn't the remote have a battery indicator light? A poorly designed unit- not worthy of Apple name.

DOES NOT work with RETINA MAC!

    • Written by from Bury St Edmunds

I bort this for my new mac book pro 15" retina. After following the set up with not results, I have only just found out after looking at lots of forums that these are useless as the new retina macs as they dont have infra red! This was not stated when I bought it and as you can tell I am quite a bit annoyed!

Mountain Lion Killed Front Row / Remote Is Useless

    • Written by from RIDGEWOOD

Using the Apple Remote with Front Row on my iMac was one of my favorite features. Very disappointed this no longer works. Contacted Apple Support, who can only pass the information along. Hope this is fixed.

And if it's not, Apple should change the product description...

Apple remote useless on mountain lion

    • Written by from Paranaque City

I have a snow leopard before and i enjoyed the front row features by using my apple remote. When I upgraded to mountain lion my apple remote became useless. You can only use it in Itunes and adjusting the volume that's it. I hope Apple can have a software upgrade so that we can use apple remote again for front row.

Current Mac OS X drops advertised functionality

    • Written by from San Diego

The current information on this remote says that you can press the Menu button on the remote at Macs made after 2005 and it will launch Front Row. Well I have a new MacBook Pro, and I paid for the remote, and the Menu button most certainly does not do anything. Sure I can change volume, but so what, I wanted it for Front Row. The one star is for false advertising; I am very surprised and disappointed in Apple here.

    USELESS

    • Written by from Brooklyn

This remote is nearly completely useless save volume control. The new operating system DOES NOT have front row, rendering this remote useless as the menu button does NOTHING. Either Apple needs to fix this problem, or you should save your money.

no reason to buy this. none.

    • Written by from Wichita

since lion no longer has Front Row, there is really no reason to own a remote for your macbook pro, air, or imac. none.

i purchased a brand spankin' new macbook pro and added this $19 remote, and guess what? it does nothing. i can skip to the next song on itunes, and i can adjust the volume. that's it. when you click the MENU button, guess what happens? NOTHING happens, because there is no longer Front Row.

i suppose this is mainly used for apple tv, and that might be fine and good, but there is NO mention on the listing for it that it is USELESS for apple laptops and desktops. none.

do not waste your time. what a disappointment.

    Doesn't even work

    • Written by from Wuppertal

I purchased this product a few weeks ago and the only thing I can say about it, is that it doesn't do anything. I have a Mac mini Early 2009, which features an IR receiver and it's also manufactured after 2005. So my Mac should meet the requirements for using this remote. But when I wanted to pair it I waited for the chain lock to appear on the screen, but it didn't. I also tried to pair directly from the system preferences menu - it also didn't work.

What I did afterwards is going back to my local electronics store and had it replaced with a new one. Also the new remote didn't work. I also tried to use a new battery - with no success.

So to sum up, I wasted $19 and now I have a useless piece of aluminum laying around in my drawer.

    Seriously?

    • Written by from Waxhaw

Why would they remove the functionality of this thing and still sell it? It doesn't do anything now except for control the volume and, if you hold down the play/pause key for 5-8 seconds put the machine to sleep. I ask again, seriously?

    That said, it is beautiful.

    Quite useless now...

    • Written by from Brasilia

Unfortunatelly the only device this remote works with is the Apple TV. If you're thinking about getting a remote for presentations or even controlling music on your Mac or iPad, just forget it!

    Don't Buy for Lion

    • Written by from Hickory

This remote and the old remotes worked great with Front Row. In Lion there is no Front Row. Until Front Row returns this is really not a good purchase.

This remote has limited functionality with iTunes. Just not worth the money.

    Menu Button for Remote: Why?

    • Written by from Charleston

Like other posters here I find the inclusion of the remote to be of little value with Lion. The Menu button provides no useful function and navigation through iTunes (scrolling up or down and playing or pausing is very limited. I used to use Front Row quite a bit when sitting across the room and wanted to switch between music (artists, albums, songs), movie, or other features. Please bring back Front Row or a similar feature for Lion. It was very handy.
