Great remote design, it's a pleasure to hold. That being said it's very small and if you lose it you need to have home sharing initiated already or you won't be able to sink another device to it. A replacement is surprisingly cheap and syncing a different remote is easy but a scream function in the remote that could be activated by an inconspicuous button on the apple tv itself would be brilliant.

I use this remote almost every day with my macbook pro.
great design, light weight, fast respond, and the battery still working more then a year now.

I bought the Apple TV like a month ago and the buttons on the remote have worn out already.
I am really disappointed.

Please, I'm begging, make it bigger next time or design an attachment to make it bigger. Or, how about a tracking device? I lose this at least once a day and have lost 2 permanently.

Works with my iMac (Mid 2011). iTunes and DVD Player. I sure I'll find other apps to use it with.
They should make an app to enhance the function of the remote. (deduct 1 star)

The Apple Remote that came with our Apple TV only works part of the time. It seems to be temperature sensitive - it sometimes works after warming it between my hands. I tried two new batteries with no improvement. It's going back under warranty. (The Apple TV is fine, it works reliably with a trained universal remote.)

It would be nice if there was a battery level readout like the wireless mouse and keyboard on our iMac. Maybe that's a lot to ask of an IR device - even a red LED on the remote that lights when a button is pressed would help you know if it's still alive.

First of all, the Apple remote (new) and my Macbook Pro Retina (new) will not pair. Nothing shows up and instructions stink ( why not show visual as to which buttons to press and where to aim it?). After trying to "pair" the remote and Mac for 45 minutes (nothing hallens), I give up. A waste of $20 for the remote. It occurs to me that I might have a bad battery and if this is the case (new remote should NOT have a bad battery), why doesn't the remote have a battery indicator light? A poorly designed unit- not worthy of Apple name.

I got one of these waaay back in 2007 with my macbook pro. It's great for presentations and media, but the most fun I've had with it is making other people's computers fall asleep and change their volume. On a college campus, it's pranks galore!

This is one instance where small and thin don't work. Leave it on a couch or chair and it disappears into oblivion for days at a time. I had to turn my couch upside down to find it! Be nice if I could program my TV remote to operate my Apple TV. At least I would have a backup. That's the problem with a lot of devices with remotes. You loose the remote you can't operate the device! Should be some basic controls on any device with a remote. My other gripe is that you absolutely have to point the darn remote at the Apple TV box to get it to respond.
