Love this remote! The only flaw is its too small and gets misplaced often. I've bought a replacement one only to find the original and after a few days they are both missing! Lol

These remtoes are great. I actually signed on here to buy a new one, because I got drunk last night and left it sitting in a puddle of water for a few hours. It seemed to like it stopped working, but I checked it again before buying a new one, and it started working perfectly again.

If your using this remote with a mac look for bettertouchtool, it is a must and infinitely extends the functionality of this remote by allowing you to customize the commands, these controls can be application specific so it can be used as a powerpoint remote etc.

It feels good and it's fun to use, but the right directional arrow button on mine just stopped working and it's only a year and a half old. Pretty aggravating.

It seems to work fine for me on my late 2010 MB pro 17 that came with snow leopard and was upgraded to Mt. Lion a couple weeks ago. I just bought the remote since installing Mt. Lion, so I can't speak to it working with previous OS's or not. The people who can't get it to work with Mt. Lion may want to trouble shoot more, as it works with mine.....

Mountain Lion Killed Front Row / Remote Is Useless

Using the Apple Remote with Front Row on my iMac was one of my favorite features. Very disappointed this no longer works. Contacted Apple Support, who can only pass the information along. Hope this is fixed.

And if it's not, Apple should change the product description...

Apple remote useless on mountain lion

I have a snow leopard before and i enjoyed the front row features by using my apple remote. When I upgraded to mountain lion my apple remote became useless. You can only use it in Itunes and adjusting the volume that's it. I hope Apple can have a software upgrade so that we can use apple remote again for front row.

I had Snow Leopard before upgraded my OS X to Mountain Lion. When I had Snow Leopard, this product was great (Front Row and all when you press the menu button). Now with Mountain Lion, the menu button just doesn't work and now I just mainly use the remote for iTunes. I wish this functionality disparity was advertised before I paid $20 for Mountain Lion or the same amount for this remote...

Current Mac OS X drops advertised functionality

The current information on this remote says that you can press the Menu button on the remote at Macs made after 2005 and it will launch Front Row. Well I have a new MacBook Pro, and I paid for the remote, and the Menu button most certainly does not do anything. Sure I can change volume, but so what, I wanted it for Front Row. The one star is for false advertising; I am very surprised and disappointed in Apple here.

    Nice design, but completely unreliable

The main problem with the apple remote is poor design of the battery bay. When replacing the battery, the contacts must make full contact with the battery cell. Unfortunately, the contacts can be inadvertently bent out of form, causing the remote to malfunction and become inoperative.

    USELESS

This remote is nearly completely useless save volume control. The new operating system DOES NOT have front row, rendering this remote useless as the menu button does NOTHING. Either Apple needs to fix this problem, or you should save your money.

no reason to buy this. none.

since lion no longer has Front Row, there is really no reason to own a remote for your macbook pro, air, or imac. none.

i purchased a brand spankin' new macbook pro and added this $19 remote, and guess what? it does nothing. i can skip to the next song on itunes, and i can adjust the volume. that's it. when you click the MENU button, guess what happens? NOTHING happens, because there is no longer Front Row.

i suppose this is mainly used for apple tv, and that might be fine and good, but there is NO mention on the listing for it that it is USELESS for apple laptops and desktops. none.

do not waste your time. what a disappointment.
