    thoughtless

I don't believe the product developers were thinking when they created an iPad doc that can not be used with a cover. Yes it looks nice and minimal and sleek when on you naked iPad. But the iPad's finish on the back is akin to teflon and hard to hold on to. I believe just about all users will have some sort of cover. It's ridiculous to think people will be taking the covers on and off all the time. Therefore, the doc is dysfunctional. Bottom line, waste of money.

    Not Usable with a Case

I got the iPad dock because I didn't want my iPad to have to sit flat on my desk when it was charging (it takes up a lot of room and it makes it easier to break if something falls on it!). Sadly, the dock doesn't work with the Apple-made iPad cover, so the item is basically useless. I hope Apple fixes this design flaw and comes out with a new dock that will allow iPad users who have covers to be able to dock. We've dealt with not docking our iPhones in their covers, but they don't really take up all that much room. This issue, however, is a pretty big oversight.

Love this dock , yes you might need two hand to pull the pad from the dock but a little 2 sided tapes works well.
I love this dock and most of all my iPad.

The dock works great. It holds the iPad securely (it does NOT wobble left and right). No it doesn't hold an iPad in the Apple case but why would you want to? And yes the dock will lift up when removing iPad unless you simply hold on to the dock when doing so. The dock is a decent product that won't shine your shoes or wash the dishes but functions as intended.

No cable included and won't work with Apple's own case!

I guess Ives was out sick the day they designed this. The apple ipad case is very difficult to remove and the case is seriously deformed after I only took the iPad out three times. That the dock doesn't work with Apple's overpriced case is simply idiotic. And selling this $30 chunk of plastic without a cable? An insult to your customers, Steve.

Pick up your iPad, dock comes along for the ride

This accessory is simply a disappointment. When removing the iPad from the dock, dock remains attached and lifts right up off the desk with the iPad, needing an change of hands to separate the two. Wobbly when using the iPad docked, and only works in portrait orientation. Waste of money.

Doesn't even come with a USB Plug Adapter & Cord

Not only does this dock not work properly, it doesn't hold the iPad as securely as it should, AND it doesn't even come with an additional USB Plug Adapter & Cord. That means that in order to use this, I need to be swapping the cable and plug in and out depending on if I'm traveling or not. Not very well thought out for a company who has redefined themselves as a mobile devices company... keyword MOBILE.

    Disappointing

I suppose it works as advertised, at least it did the first time I plugged it in, before I had my iPad case. Sadly, I'd have to remove it from the case if I ever wanted to use it again, and, because of the case design, that's a bit of a pain... so... back to the Apple Store it goes.

yea it looks cute and all when its sitting on night stand and you got a picture slide show running ... but the stuff you have to go thru to get it that way bites ... taking it in and out of the case is a tiresome task ... so not it just sits there empty

The dock holds the ipad securely in portrait view. Even though it is not compatible with the ipad case it is a great product. I chose this dock with the wireless keyboard rather than the keyboard dock and am extremely happy.

Does not work if you have a skin on the iPad

    • Written by from San Francisco

Very disappointing that Apple would not consider a dock that works when you put a protective skin around the ipad. Especially disappointing considering that pretty much everyone already does this with the iphone and itouch devices and the same problem exists. in concept, it's a good idea, but the execution is poor.

Does not work with any case attached AND if you want to use it for a stand to display photos, being in the vertical position is not ideal for photo viewing.

Pointless without support for sleeved iPads

    • Written by from Ashburn

Most sleeves are not designed for frequent removal of the iPad. This makes using the Apple IPad dock virtually worthless. The sleeve is more important then the dock so I am returning the dock.

    Useless with the case

I like many others bought the dock and the case. The case to protect and the dock to charge, synch, and create a digital photo frame when not using the iPad. The fact that the dock does not work with the case is unacceptable.

    It works fine

I like the dock and use it every day. They were out of the folding case so this is what I use to hold it up. I still plan to use this for a charging stand even if I find a different way to hold it up.

I would like it to hold the pad a little more stable, but this turned out to be a benefit as well since I quickly learned to soften up when working the pad.

Barely useful as a stand and for power

I am now on my second dock having returned the first one to BBY. In both cases the Line Out does not work with my stereo system. Note that I am using exactly the same cable setup as I use with my iPhone/iPhone dock which works great. And this same cable setup works great with the iPad Keyboard dock. But when I plug in the iPad doc (same as I do with the iPad Keyboard dock) it does not register with the iPad. Sound continues to come through the iPad speakers and is not sent out through the Line Out. The cables I purchased from the Apple Store. Very straight forward. The only setup that doesn't work is when I introduce this iPod dock.

And like everyone else has pointed out, it will not work with any cases or covers. Not even Apple's own case.

The dock should be included. It provides no additional cord. Any prop can give you what this can. I wasted my money. Don't do the same.

A Waste. Spend the money on an extra Power Adapter

    • Written by from Ramsey

I purchased this when I bought my iPad. Brought it home and thought to myself what a waste. What I really needed was an extra power adapter for work. Luckily I didn't open it, so I returned it and purchased the 10W USB Power Adapter instead for the same price. Seriously, I would save your money. Last thing you need is to add this dock one day to your outdated dock collection (IE - iPod and iPhone).
