Difficult to use with the case

Works fine, but if you want to use it with the Apple iPad case, you will have to do some surgery on the case. Otherwise, the base will not fit far enough into the iPad to make the connection needed to charge. The needed modification can be easily completed with an exacto knife, but you would think that accessories would be made to work together. So I give it 3 stars

No audio control when line-out connected

The dock holds the iPad, charges it and syncs ( if you buy a cable in addition).
But what's not acceptable at all: when you connect speakers via the line-out of the dock, you cannot control the volume through the iPad!!
Yes, that's right. If your speakers don't have an additional volume control, this dock is useless for playing music. Unfortunately!
I hope there is an update on this issue soon.

I works pretty well vertically, but I wanted to use it horizontally to read email and facebook easier. Wasted my money again on a limited gadget!

Does not provide enough support. The base should be at least 1 inch wider to properly support the iPad. Does not support landscape mode.

Does exactly what it needs to

This device does what I would expect a dock to do.

It allows me to stand my iPad up vertically while charging/syncing when not in use to protect the screen from damage, and to save desk space. It is easy to put the device on the dock, and it supports it well without much risk of it falling of or even being knocked off when bumped. It also allows the iPad to operate as a very high quality digital picture frame once placed on the dock on your desk.

For the price, I think it is exactly what you would expect.

If I had one gripe, it would be that it holds the iPad almost 'too' firmly, and you sometimes have to hold the dock down while removing the iPad to keep the dock from lifting off the table. Other than that, for me, a 5 star product for the price.

I like the dock, it does everything it's supposed to do. It stands the iPad up nicely and charges it! The only thing I would have changed is I think it should at least come with another USB cord & or charger.. but I feel this way with all docks.

This dock is silly. It is like 2 inches long, so it provides NO SUPPORT for the IPad. And it really doesnt lock into it. Your Ipad is just going to tip over, crash to the floor and you are out of luck.

I bought the stand so I could have my iPad upright in front of me when watching movies. The stupid thing only works in portrait mode making it worthless for me who prefers to watch a movie using the whole screen in landscape mode.

It seems some people love to find something negative about the Dock. My experiency is very positive. It does exactly what it is meant for like synchronizing and charching. The product and it's price.. a perfect match!

Well... Until I received my iPad in the mail. On the plus side, it is solid, nice looking and well engineered from an aesthetic point of view. It makes for a nice photo frame stand.

    On the other hand:
    1. No power cable. Unless you have an apple computer forget about charging and syncing at the same time.
    2. It does not dock with the apple case. Words cannot describe how wrong this is.
    3. A bit wobbly if iPad is in use while docked. Not horribly unstable, but enough to mention.

Overall, the apple case provides 80% of the functionality of this stand and is only marginally more wobbly when used in the portrait mode. I cannot recommend this product unless you are connecting to a Mac. Even then I would say you'd be better off just buying the case.

    Doesn't connect to other iDevices...

I was seriously disappointed this only connects to the iPad. I have several other iProducts to include the newest iPod classic and iPhone, of which this is not compatible with due to the spacing of the back support. I feel apple easily could have implemented an alternative solution to this...which leads me to believe this product was obviously a money making scam. If the newest iPhone (HD/4) fits nicely, I'd feel a bit better about my purchase as I primarily keep the dock on my night stand along with my iPhone & iPad.

Having said all that, I enjoy it's use with the iPad. Low key and gives my iPad a more official resting place. Much nicer than setting it on the floor or a hard surface to be scratched up. I don't know how it would be logistically possible but it really should have the option for landscape mode

This is a great idea, but I purchased it with the idea that it would work with the APPLE case. It would take very little innovation to design one that had an adjustable back so you could use it with or without a case. Sad to say for the first time I was disappointed in my Apple product.

iPad Case Removal Not A Problem To Dock - Read Here

I've read countless reviews of customers who have had difficulty in removing the Apple iPad Case in order to utilize their dock.

Removal is actually very simple; you don't have to hassle yourself with trying to yank/pull the iPad out of the case. Instead, slide out the microfiber fold, and rotate the iPad around so you are grasping the opposite end. With your middle fingers and hands supporting the short top and bottom ends, use both of your thumbs to give the iPad a push outward. Just push enough so about one inch of the iPad exits. You can then use your thumbs on the inner part of the case to slide the iPad out. After doing this three times, it is a piece of cake, and your iPad can be inserted and removed with ease. The best part is, the case still retains its original shape so you can do this forever and not worry about your iPad case falling off, getting loose, etc.

I have to remove my iPad twice daily; once to dock at home, and again to dock at my desk at work.

This case fits the iPad perfectly, and is great for typing on the go, watching videos, and just keeping it safe and scratch free. I have no complaints!!

    Makes a good paper weight

If your iPad is in an iPad case, this device is useless unless you want to wrestle the case off of your iPad first. I bought the dock without thinking about it, but since I have no intention of prying my iPad out of its case, the dock has been relegated to the status of paper weight. Don't waste your money.

    A 3/5 Star Rating, and Here's Why!

At first, I got this stand, figuring that it would be a neat way to charge my iPad. Also, to Play Slide Shows on it, while Connected, and just that it props it up pretty nicely... It is a Nice Product, but it was lacking something. Lacking a Widescreen Charge ability, so you can charge in Landscape mode. I was using it, but the Cases that people are going crazy over, do not Fit in the Dock, and most people do not want to pull out their iPad's, when it is protected. Also, people wanted to be able to type, but it does not give you the angle to do so. BUT!!! I have figured out, that YOU CAN, type with it! Just Flip it Over, with it's Rubber side Faced Up, and Now you have a Nice Angle for Typing! I was like, this is Genius, and don't know why Apple did not mention this on the Dock Page, as one of its Abilities. So, I went from a 1 star rating up to 3. Just Flip it over, Now its a Charger, Perfect Typing Keyboard-Angle, Vertical Dock, and PC/TV/ and Camera Kit Connector! I would love for Apple to Add this Idea to the Docks Qualities, since it Truly is a Perfect Keyboard Typing angle! Peace!

Forget the dock, the the iPad case instead

    • Written by from Lahaina

I bought the iPad dock and Apple's iPad case. You can't use dock when your iPad is in the case. The iPad fits so well in the case it is not easy to remove the case to plug it into the dock. So, the dock becomes useless.

My advice - Purchase the iPad case but don't waste your money on the dock. The case holds the iPad either vertically or horizontally, whereas the dock only holds it vertically. The case is well designed, provides good protection and very thin so your iPad doesn't 'grow' much inside the case. The dock simply serves no purpose if you have the case.
