This keyboard is softer and lighter from previous Apple keyboards but this one that came with my new iMac 27" is a piece of junk, specially if you use Photoshop, QuarkXPress etc etc etc. I´ve lost lot of shortcuts, designing using this keyboard makes you really nervous. APPLE YOU SHOULD TAKE CARE OF DESIGNERS, AFTER ALL THANKS US YOU SURVIVED, are you too busy looking for PC users that you forgot the main customers and the ones that really defeated you?

    dear apple,

by now you should already know, that a majority of your customers are professional artists. people who spend countless hours in photoshop, after effect, and illustrator. minimalists may be, but the numeric keys, home, end, pageup, pagedn...etc. are very important to us designers and animators. this keyboard is literally useless especially in after effect. i'm not sure what your limitations are for making a sleek wireless keyboard that not only looks good on our desks but also does not involve us changing all the default hotkeys. but please figure it out sooner rather than later.

for now, we shall be the group of unimportant customers of yours who has to be limited to buying your standard wired keyboard with a numeric keypad.

thank you for letting us know that steve job's legacy has came to an end for rolling out this useless product.

    Broke, wouldn't buy again

Delivery, setup & connection fine - a functional, ergonomic keyboard, until you come to change the batteries.

The battery access cap is seized and is bending coins (the opening tool) before it will open. Solution to this problem on the apple support forum is 'buy a new keyboard' !

I will get a replacement, but it won't be apple. VERY DISAPPOINTED.

When I first got this keyboard, I had a hard time without the numbers on the side as well as the top.

I got past that and learned to love it.

    Now it has dies.

    I would not recommend.

No number keypad and eats batteries

Functionally, the Apple Wireless Keyboard does what it's supposed to do... until you try to type in a phone number on your address book... or open the Calculator application when you are paying bills... or add number cells on your Excel spreadsheet.

Apple made the keyboard "cute" but removed the important keypad on the right side. Don't think you'll miss it? I did.

Otherwise, the keyboard works great until your batteries go dead.

My wife bought this to run with her Powerbook. She wasn't able to link up with the computer and so did more hunting and found many people with the same complaint. Very frustrating. So I tried it with my iMac. It linked up fine and I actually love the feel of it. However, several letters in the upper right, like "P" and the dash, didn't work. Disappointing an an Apple product to find not one but two major problems. I think we'll be reluctant to risk trying another one since we found all the other negative reviews of the thing. Too bad as I liked the feel of it and the look of it.

    Function Keys Dont Work!!!

I had to reset all my key functions when I installed this keyboard. The Dashboard Button (F4) was not opening the dashboard feature. and I can't get my Sound Function keys ( Pause, play, forward, reverse ) to work either. This keyboard would be a hundred times better if it had numeric keypad and also "backspace + delete" Keys. Not just one. I wish I had not spent my money on this keyboard. A lot of money for so little in return.

I bought it about a year ago and it stopped working about three months ago.
I changed the batteries and checked the wireless connection; and it still isn't working.
Currently, it's setting on my desk right now and I plan to take it back to the Mac store where I bought as soon as I get a moment to do so. What a bummer.

    Worthless

Three months old. Eats up batteries far too quickly. Same for the mouse. Brand new batteries and continued "Connection Lost" resulting in last key press repeating endlessly until "Connection established" again. Wasted way more time fighting this thing than its worth. I'll stick with my extended USB board with a numeric keypad. This one is going straight to the landfill.

Sleek and beautiful but extremely awkward to use

    • Written by from Lake Grove

7 of 16 people found this useful

I purchased this keyboard with my imac in December of 08 primarily because I liked the idea of a sleek wireless keyboard that could easily be stowed away underneath the screen. And it does indeed look slick and fit under the screen when you just want extra desk space. If I only wanted a keyboard that took up little space and matched the aesthetic of my imac, it would be perfect.

But I also want a keyboard on which I actually enjoy typing--or at the very least, on which it is not continually uncomfortable and frustrating to type. And on that count, despite the many serious attempts I've made to adjust, this keyboard never feels good. The keys feel very hard and uncomfortable; the spacing is extremely cramped (and I have neither big hands nor thick fingers); even the angle of the keyboard feels too flat. Every time I type on it, I feel frustrated and cramped, I make far more mistakes than I do on normal keyboards, and my hands begin to hurt.

Ultimately, though it annoyed me to have to mar the i-mac aesthetic, I purchased a wireless dell mouse and keyboard combo that matches the one I use at work (and which I always found far more natural to use than this one). Every once in a while, I'm tempted to take out this keyboard and give it another try, but within minutes, I remember why it's so uncomfortable and toss it back in my desk drawer. I'm continually amazed that apple pairs great computers with keyboards/mice less functional than those you'd find with any generic pc.

I’m a recent convert from the PC world. I purchased my first I-Mac yesterday. I love the machine as it allows me to be working in PC world while also in the Apple world using VM-Fusion. Unfortunately, the wireless keyboard included with the I-Mac is impossible to use for a touch typist.
When buying an I-Mac, add a real keyboard if you intend to type anything.

Alright, I was hoping they would have seen the error of their ways, but still no number pad?!? This product has its uses sure, but trying to work in a professional environment in any field pretty much requires a number pad's input.
