    Anything But...

I'm an ex-microsoft pc user. Bought my iMac December,2009. I LOVE the iMac and will never go back to pc. I LOVE the Magic Mouse!
I HATE the keyboard - it has no mass- it feels 2 dimensional, it propels itself across the desk as if typing on a piece of cardboard. The keys have no 'throw' and no hollow for your fingertips to feel. After a month I found it impossible to deal with. A friend of mine gave me an old clear bottom Apple keyboard - a plug in - with two additional USB connects on the rear! Now my iMac is Totally perfect. I would not recommend this keyboard to anyone who is human.

    Cramped

This is good if you like typing on a laptop keyboard all the time. I don't.

And, furthermore, I know I speak for many others out there who appreciate a full-size keyboard when they're sitting at a desk and have the extra 8 inches or so to spare.

So, why can't Apple broaden their horizons just a bit and please make a wireless keyboard for the rest of us who prefer typing on a normal-size keyboard, and especially a number pad?! I think this single version was a very short-sighted/narrow-minded move.

Until then, I recommend staying away from this anti-ergonomic travesty that will have your fingers cursing you, and go for Logitech's Wireless Solar Keyboard K750 for Mac, like I did. (And, hey, Apple... I'd gladly replace that with YOUR full-size version if/when you ever do reconsider and come out with one.)

Great Size, Good Keyboard Feel - Now I can touch type on my iPad 2

This keyboard is perfect for use with the iPad 2. I long ago taught myself to use the number keys at the top instead of a number pad which I found inconvenient since I had to shift my view to the right and look away from the screen. The small size of the keyboard fits well with the iPad 2 and yet it's large enough for touch typing without feeling cramped. It has a very solid feel, it should since it's backed by a solid aluminum plate. This product finally makes the iPad 2 useful for text entry. I paired it with my iPad 2 in about 2 seconds, no problems.

Do Not buy the iPad dock with the keyboard attached. BUY THIS PRODUCT!!! The freedom of portability is much better than having an iPad turned into a desktop. I just bought this keyboard and the syncing with the iPad was super easy. This is amazing and much easier to type on than the iPad's keyboard. BUY THIS NOW!!!

Keyboard is Ok but it eats batteries

The Bluetooth connectivity is fine, and the keyboard is OK to use. I love not having wires on my desktop but this keyboard can get through a pair of AA batteries in a few hours. I have installed the updates for the keyboard but they made no difference.

I have tried Energizers and Costco alkalines but the battery consumption is still very very high.

    Apple Wireless Keyboard

While I like the fact that the keyboard is wireless, the lack of a numeric keyboard presents a problem when you work in spreadsheet applications. Additionally, the size restriction has resulted in the left/right/up/down arrow keys being so close together that you often hit the wrong key unless you're looking at the keyboard. We need a wireless keyboard with the full capabilities that exists with the usb keyboard.

Some nice things but overall not impressed

I have the newest late 2009 two-battery version. It is sturdy, very cool looking and takes up little space on the desktop.

Battery: After being on constantly for a week, the battery still says 100%.

On the down side, the Caps Lock key is supposed to light when on, but doesn't light at all. Since I use caps lock for some of my work, that's a problem since most internet logins are case sensitive.

Lightweight but keeps moving around on my desk unless I put a rubber mat underneath.

I thought it would be backlit but it is not. I like working in a low light room, and was used to my backlit laptop.

Size: overall it feels cramped because of the space between the keys. The keyboard itself is essentially the same as my laptop keyboard but without any edges around the whole thing. The MacBook Pro laptop has larger keys with smaller spaces between them.

One last gripe: although I don't touch it too often, it's often enough to annoy me: why can't Apple make a keyboard or notebook edge that isn't sharp???

    Nice design, poor functionality!

This is the first Apple product that I seriously hate. Cannot regain connectivity after system loss. Going back to the wired keyboard!

    Terrible Connection

    • Written by from Tempe

I like the way this keyboard feels when I type, nice short throw keys, well spaced.

Then it disconnects. This keyboard disconnects from the computer for me CONSTANTLY. I'll be typing along and then suddenly letters aren't appearing on the screen and I see the dreaded Connection Lost symbol.

And then you have to wait, I had to wait half an hour today for the keyboard to connect to the Mac again after it lost connection, and right now I'm writing this review on my PC's wireless keyboard because the apple wireless keyboard lost connection again.

Terrible, terrible, terrible bluetooth in this device, truly abysmal, never buy this, buy something cheaper that will actually work for you.

I think the reviews for this keyboard should be a full five stars. I had the dangerous job of typing 70 words per minute while in the Air Force for twelve years (that was 20 years ago). I've used a plethora of keyboards. I even taught typing/word processing at a business school. This keyboard feels good! I type fast. And, the no hassle bluetooth connection is amazing! I love this keyboard. I have two, one for my iMac and one for my iPad. Again, it is worthy of a full five stars!

blue tooth beauty lacks numeric keypad

    • Written by from Sydney

I have found this keyboard great in all aspects except one, why isn't there an option for one with a numeric keypad like the full sized wired one?

Either that or Apple should 'Supply' an overlay for the trackpad instead of the over priced mobius thing, really, $40 bucks for a simple programme and a sticker.

Apple, make a bluetooth Numeric keypad, you could make one with a switch that allows it to double as a trackpad and have all the profits yourself.

Other than that, love the keyboard, I hated it at first because i'm a touch typist, but i've since gotten used to it and just keep a set of spare Nimh's in the drawer for all my apple devices.

I've been using mine for two years now, and I'm delighted with it. Solid construction, great key feel, stable, and extremely reliable. I hammer keys, and I have a long history of breaking keyboards. This one has survived my abuse with no problems. It has also survived a couple of coffee spills. Best keyboard I've ever owned.

Incidentally, I use rechargeable batteries and get about three weeks from a charge, I think, but I don't pay careful attention. I use the keyboard for most of my workday.

Latest MC184LL/B model function keys do not work with iOS 4.3.5

    • Written by from Blaxland

41 of 45 people found this useful

Buyer beware - If they send you the latest version of the keyboard with the Lion specific function keys (MC184LL/B) none of the function keys will control brightness, media playback or volume on devices with iOS 4.3.5 (not sure about prior iOS versions). Specifically iPad 2 in my case but others have said iPad 1 as well. The remaining keys all seem to work fine though. Crossing fingers that an update to iOS will correct this.
Everything works perfectly on a Mac running Lion so the issue is with the iOS device support.

I purchased this when I got my iPad a year ago, knowing I didn't want to have to dock the iPad on anything in order to type something on a keyboard. Best decision I could have made! The keyboard is amazingly small and light, yet large enough to type normally. I love being able to pick it up and start typing, no matter where the iPad is or what position it's in. Just wish it had some sort of lightly padded case so it could travel easily with me, but that's not a huge deal.

    Battery Drainer

Every 2 days I've gotta use new batteries cause this keyboard drains the life out of them. Got rechargeable ones that go in one day. It also has a hard time connecting to blue tooth. The trackpad works better than this. Apple products just don't like me.

happy user of this on PC

It's annoying to read all over that this keyboard "misses numeric keypad". Guess what: that's the reason I bought it in the first place. Regular writing in an armchair is very uncomfortable if it has numeric keypad. Still, you can clearly see before buying that this keyboard doesn't have numeric keys so what's the point whining about it?
I did have connectivity issues but, somehow surprisingly, I resolved them by removing the bluetooth driver that came with my usb dongle and replacing it with default Windows XP driver. It works like a charm now, despite the fact that at the same time I use another bluetooth dongle for the network.
The obvious disadvantage is the price. In Poland, where I bought it, it costs significantly more than 69 bucks (US is so cheap and yet you still whine about the price)
To sum up, I'm not an Apple fanboy, I bought this for PC and I spend on it 10 times the price of my previous keyboard, but I would do this again cause Apple's competition is to shy to dump the numeric keypad and adopt minimalistic design.
