Having both a Macbook air and this wireless keyboard is a treat. The wireless keyboard (as well as the wired keyboard) have virtually the same layout, save the function button, smaller control and alt keys, and small arrow-pad. This means that as I move from laptop-keyboard to wireless-keyboard, I do not have to adjust my typing habits to compensate for altered ergonomics.

The tactile response of the keys is noticeable yet not wearisome.

Bluetooth distance has never been a problem for me even paired with an tower outfitted with an external USB bluetooth dongle.

I am a daily user and have replaced the batteries in my laptop twice in about 7 months.

No gripes here.

You can never tell if it's on or off. When you turn it on, a little light blinks green once. And when you turn it off, guess what -- that's right, a little light blinks green once. So you have no way of knowing if it's off or on!!!!

A bunch of us have just taken to taking the batteries out and carrying them separately.

I'm a road warrior and have only worked from a laptop going on 16 years. I finally made room on my desk at home for a monitor so bought Apple keyboard and trackpad. Easy transition when I get the opportunity to work at home and doesn't take up much space. Quickly power off and put away in drawer.

I guess it had to happen eventually, simply by the laws of probability. My lifetime run of one brilliant Apple product after another came to a crashing halt when I bought one of the new Apple wireless keyboards.

What were you guys thinking when you designed this thing? O.K., I know, it is a beautiful design to LOOK AT. True. No question. But try typing with the thing for more than five or ten minutes, especially if you usually type more quickly than at a leisurely hunt and peck speed. It's brutal on your hands (and I've played piano all my life, so my hands are not wimpy): there is no travel in the keys, so it's like typing on cement. After a while, it hurts! After a few hours, even my hands ache. I'm sorry, but it's just not well thought out for its actual purpose as an input device. As desk sculpture, it's great. For actually typing for any length of time, it's just not up to Apple spec.

The flat surface shape and wide spacing of the keys makes for uncomfortable typing as well. If the keys could have a concave surface, and be closer together, it would be a great improvement.

Sorry to go on at such length; but I didn't want to just rant so it took a bit to include some specifics. If these areas can be improved (harsh/hard key "action", flat key surface, and too wide spacing of keys), it could become both a beautiful and more functional keyboard.

I have the full (wired) Extended Keyboard at home and am using the Wireless keyboard here at work.

First of all, the keys on all of these new keyboards feel amazing. It's quite a jump from an older apple keyboard and particularly from a standard PC keyboard, but once you get used to it, older keyboards feel like those old manual typewriters, plus the design is just incredible.

Anyway, the wireless feature is very cool with the lack of cables on my desk, but to be honest, the keyboard is sitting right next to my laptop, so I can't comment on the wireless range (or the necessity of wireless). Bluetooth pairing works flawlessly. I take my laptop to meetings many times per day (too many) and the keyboard knows exactly when I leave and return and it reconnects - there is nothing needed to be done.

So, since I'm used to the larger, extended keyboard at home, I have a hard time with these few items:
1. The lack of the numeric keypad (obvious)
2. That enter button on the extended numeric keypad perfectly located at the right corner of the keyboard - I live for that button.
3. The additional "fn" (function) button on this wireless keyboard located in the bottom-left - I loath this button because I miss the CTRL, OPT and CMD buttons all the time
4. I really dislike the need to use this "fn" button for some common key functions like ENTER (rather than RETURN) and DELETE (rahter than BACKSPACE)

I guess the ultimate would be a wireless version of the extended keyboard, but that is not yet available. I plan to switch my wireless keyboard with the wired extended keyboard.

Greatest keyboard i have ever owned,period. I love the minimalist design and the low surface keys are really easy to use.

im a middle school student and bought this idem for my eassy's and homework assiments and this is perfect for an ipad(which i saved for and bought my self). im writing this review with it write now this deserves 5 stars and the batteries came with it already in it. you just have to type in the code on the scrrent that pops up press enter and boom youre using youre wireless keyboard i love all apple products and just use this one. it might sound like a lot of money for a key board but trust me its useful

This keyboard is fine, but seems too-clever-by-half. Why no number pad? Or, back-delete key? Or, page up/page down, end, etc. keys? As someone else pointed out: it is great if you're sitting on a a plane or bus with a laptop; but for serious office work, it is inadequate. I bought a full-sized wireless Apple keyboard about 4 years ago and still use it (like, right now). Works fine, is not a battery-hog, and is full function. It would be nice if Cupertino would give us a choice of mini- or full-sized wireless.

I received this wireless keyboard a little over a year ago as a late birthday/fathers day gift from my oldest. In conjunction with the magic mouse, I have this blue-toothed to my mid '09 MBpro, which is mirrored to a larger HD display. Instant desktop. Works great!
The keyboard is used daily and has performed flawlessly to date. I did purchase a silicone keyboard skin for a buck off eBay. Keeps the keys clean and adds some insurance against liquid spills at coffee time.
The original batteries just expired last month. So it almost made it a full year with the batteries it shipped with.
Very impressive!
I would rate this 10 big stars if I could, but five will have to do.

Looks great, works great, but if you get a battery stuck in the very narrow compartment, it can't be opened to remove. I brought it into the store and they said that the battery expanded and could not be removed. They recommend changing the batteries WEEKLY. That's crazy. So they took it to recycle it and asked me if I wanted to buy another, NO
