I cast aside my big, unpretty 3rd party keyboard and replaced it with this sleek little beauty. The keyboard is small and lovely, and looks perfectly at home on my coffee table.

However, after typing for a few hours, my hands began to cramp up as never before. I don't miss the numeric pad, but apparently my hands need more support than this floating island of keys provides.

But the real nail in the coffin was three weeks in when a battery alert popped up on my screen. It was down to 18% charge in less than a month of very casual use. For me, dealing with batteries every month or two negates the elegance of no wires. And no matter how pretty it is, if it hurts my hands, it's failing in it's most basic function. If I have to buy a wrist rest and a jumbo pack of batteries, it is not looking so elegant anymore. I returned it in favor of another less-gorgeous 3rd party keyboard. Sometimes it feels like Apple values elegant design more than my actual needs.

I got this keyboard as a Christmas gift, and I loved it. The first two weeks it was working great until it started pressing buttons on its own. It's not an extreme inconvenience, but it presses a button about every 2-3 hours of using it. It's not only one button either. So far it has not pressed the same button twice, which is not a good thing. Most of the time, I'm not even touching the keyboard when it presses a button by itself.
I've exchanged it once already and I'm going to try one more time. If it doesn't work next time, I'll just replace it for the wireless mouse or something and go back to my Logitech wireless keyboard. =(

Takes a while to wake up and connect with the computer, no number pad or page forward button, and too many batteries! If space is a concern, go ahead and get it. Otherwise, don't waste your money (again and again, with replacing batteries!).

Beautiful to behold but no numeric keypad. Also, the slim factor is a bit ungainly if you like to put the keyboard on your lap occasionally. So, this one stays in the box.

Why don't they put the numeric pad into the wireless one???

The main problem is still the connectivity though: just 2-3 feet away and it looses the connection and takes forever to reconnect.

First apple product of which I'm disappointed.

This keyboard came with my Imac but I don't use it. If it had a number pad it would be very useful. The Apple wired keyboard with a number pad and 2 USB ports is more useful than this sawed off keyboard.

I am rating this only 2 stars because in reality I'd like Apple to bring back (as an option) a full wireless keyboard. I don't like to use Fn for function keys, be restricted to the left side only for "control" and the cramped "notebook" style keyboard makes little sense to some people (like me) that wish to connect a REAL keyboard to our notebooks.

I have the newest late 2009 two-battery version. It is sturdy, very cool looking and takes up little space on the desktop.

Battery: After being on constantly for a week, the battery still says 100%.

On the down side, the Caps Lock key is supposed to light when on, but doesn't light at all. Since I use caps lock for some of my work, that's a problem since most internet logins are case sensitive.

Lightweight but keeps moving around on my desk unless I put a rubber mat underneath.

I thought it would be backlit but it is not. I like working in a low light room, and was used to my backlit laptop.

Size: overall it feels cramped because of the space between the keys. The keyboard itself is essentially the same as my laptop keyboard but without any edges around the whole thing. The MacBook Pro laptop has larger keys with smaller spaces between them.

One last gripe: although I don't touch it too often, it's often enough to annoy me: why can't Apple make a keyboard or notebook edge that isn't sharp???

I owned this keyboard and ended up throwing it away. The modifier keys on the left and the arrow keys on the right are too tiny. It is too easy to hit the wrong modifier key on the left, which gives unexpected results. It is also too narrow to use on my lap. The keyboard is right for a laptop, but too small for a desk.

I wish Apple would make a wireless keyboard with a standard layout, normal-sized keys, and a number pad so I could get the keyboard cable off my desk. This one seems best suited to tiny hands. I never cease to be amazed that anyone buys it, or that Apple doesn't have a full-sized alternative.
