PERFECT Minimalist Accessory to iPad Mini

Incredibly lightweight keyboard. Keys are extremely comfortable & high touch, typing is very fast. Still waiting for iPad Mini delivery but connection easily made via iPod Touch. Issue of power not turning off right away resolved by removing 1 battery. Fits perfectly in a courier bag bought for iPad Mini.

    cool looking but many failures

Over the last few years, we've had about 4 of these just die. Fresh batteries do not resolve the issue. I've had one that just suddenly a number of keys no longer worked. These are very gently used in an office environment. We just toss them in the trash. I just had one die yesterday. They look cool but don't seem to be reliable. Its just my personal opinion but I don't care for typing on them. I grab the previous style apple keyboards on ebay instead. Our marketing staff really don't care for them either

    Nice, but ....

    PROS -

    - Great (Apple) design of course
    - Relatively quiet keys while typing
    - Compact and lightweight
    - Bluetooth with decent range (I've used it about 8 ft. from my computer with no problems)

    CONS -

    - No numerical keypad
    - Battery life a bit short (compared to my MS 3000 keyboard)
    - Could be better ergonomics
    - No backlighting
    - Sometimes takes a few taps on the keys to "wake" it up; especially when using it with Win 7 via Bootcamp

    SUMMARY -

Vey nice keyboard overall .... albeit, with a few caveats. It's all a matter of personal preference. I'll use it until something better (for me) comes along.

blue tooth beauty lacks numeric keypad

I have found this keyboard great in all aspects except one, why isn't there an option for one with a numeric keypad like the full sized wired one?

Either that or Apple should 'Supply' an overlay for the trackpad instead of the over priced mobius thing, really, $40 bucks for a simple programme and a sticker.

Apple, make a bluetooth Numeric keypad, you could make one with a switch that allows it to double as a trackpad and have all the profits yourself.

Other than that, love the keyboard, I hated it at first because i'm a touch typist, but i've since gotten used to it and just keep a set of spare Nimh's in the drawer for all my apple devices.

You can never tell if it's on or off. When you turn it on, a little light blinks green once. And when you turn it off, guess what -- that's right, a little light blinks green once. So you have no way of knowing if it's off or on!!!!

A bunch of us have just taken to taking the batteries out and carrying them separately.

I'm an old-timer but happy to get more mobile as long as I can be sort of anchored as well. I find the keyboard much more comfortable to use for composing long emails or documents. I have a dock and keyboard at Office and am geting another for home so all I have to carry is the iPad in between. That might sound a little funny, but home and office are 7000 miles apart.

It's certainly sleek, durable, and minimalistic but none of these help if you use your iMac for productivity/office intentions.

As a senior in college, I use my iMac every day. Word docs, Excel reports, etc.
    - Unless you turn off your keyboard (and Magic Mouse) every time you're away, you'll go through 4 AA batteries every month.
    - That saying "You don't realize what you had until it's gone" certainly applies to the home, directional and numeric key pad.

Look on those .Org selling sites and you'll notice plenty customers want to get rid of theirs since it came with their iMac, (like me).

I'm a road warrior and have only worked from a laptop going on 16 years. I finally made room on my desk at home for a monitor so bought Apple keyboard and trackpad. Easy transition when I get the opportunity to work at home and doesn't take up much space. Quickly power off and put away in drawer.

I received this wireless keyboard a little over a year ago as a late birthday/fathers day gift from my oldest. In conjunction with the magic mouse, I have this blue-toothed to my mid '09 MBpro, which is mirrored to a larger HD display. Instant desktop. Works great!
The keyboard is used daily and has performed flawlessly to date. I did purchase a silicone keyboard skin for a buck off eBay. Keeps the keys clean and adds some insurance against liquid spills at coffee time.
The original batteries just expired last month. So it almost made it a full year with the batteries it shipped with.
    Very impressive!
I would rate this 10 big stars if I could, but five will have to do.
    Highly Recommended!!!

    wired vs wireless

i am typing on the 3rd wireless keyboard i have obtained from apple. when i bought my imac it came with both mouse and keyboard; fine and dandy. but when small little problems happen such as not able to connect to bluetooth or watching 5-8 commands go off via internal keyboard when you're pressing the "s" key, thats a big problem. especially when it comes to hot keys and such. now i have spoke to numerous agents on tech support and they say that the keyboard isn't as important when you're trying to configure. that is somewhat true if you do not protect your software with passwords, encryptions, etc.
not for nothing but i would have scrapped these keyboards and about a 20$ wired logitech keyboard because at least problems like what i have previously noted would have greatly decreased. thank apple for the warranty.. thank myself for getting that lil bundle because i don't think apple accessories are covered a warranty. i could be wrong.
oh and as well, if you're a gamer (like myself) both wireless keyboards and wireless mouse will not be your friend. even at its most sensitive

A very nice keyboard if it weren't for all the issues people have with it (do a search nad you'll see). My problems include:

    - Bad interface and manual - when the keyboard malfunctions it's really hard to tell if it's on or not since the LED is lit for a short while and then turns off which could mean several things.
    - Can't run on rechargeble batteries since they only have 1.2V vs 1.5V of non rechargable
    - Mine died after 13 months for no apparent reason.

I bought the wireless keyboard for my 27-inch iMac (have been using the Apple extended keyboard) because I wanted to free up a USB slot. It works nicely (I do miss the extended keyboard features, though) except that it's poorly balanced and lightweight-- therefore, it rattles annoying on the surface my desk while I type. I don't know if I can get used to this irritating problem, or find a fix (perhaps some kind of fabric or other material on the desk? I shouldn't have to scrounge around for a fix.

Recently decided to replace my 7 year old iMac with a new one. Low and behold Apple has decided to give us a terrible keyboard for use on the iMac. I do not want a partial keyboard on my iMac, I want a FULL keyboard that functions! Not only that, but now I have lost 2 USB ports that we used on our older iMac, this paired with the loss of USB and Firewire ports on the back of the iMac have me very unhappy! Apple, I love the idea of a wireless keyboard and mouse, but I hate the fact that you skimped on a full fledged keyboard!

This is the most useful accesory that I have gotten.

Writing on this keyboard just feel smooth and fast. I have a blog and write every day, and this keyboard (altough it doesn't have numeric pad) has been 100% useful.

Pretty easy to use, beautiful finish, and not to mention that the battery consumption is extremely low, so it works for weeks and even months without a charge.

I just got one of these today to use with my ipad 3 I bought it because I wanted to be able to use my ipad as a computer for typing long papers on. It is great so far I love that you can type, go away and then type right away when you come back, no waiting. Overall a very spiffy product! I also love that you can use the keyboard on the ipad if you want to just by pressing the eject key
