    Best keyboard for iPad

    • Written by from Belleville

I've had scores of other keyboards. But the fact that this one is a full sized keyboard (unlike Logitech, whose design I like for case and keyboard but the keyboard is not very functional for someone who types a great deal) is a plus. The only real down side is that there's no case for the iPad and keyboard. I ended up purchasing the origami case for the keyboard (after carrying it around with me in the original box for YEARS) and a case for my newly upgraded iPad Air (upgraded from an iPad 2).

I wish Apple would get with the program and design something for both or come up with a new keyboard/case for it's product.

2 keyboards-batteries corroded inside, can't even open battery door on one

    • Written by from New Orleans

There must be a design problem here - never had a device that corrodes batteries to this severity when not used. Will see if duracell pays to replace it, but it seems to be a design problem since it has happened to every apple blue tooth keyboard I have owned. So while it is a great functional design and pleasant to type on, having to remove your batteries after each use makes the design kind of flawed. One can find this issue in multiple threads of apple support forums.

Beware of iPad lockouts with this keyboard

    • Written by from Brooklyn

This review is to warn iPad users that the keyboard may result in a major headache. I bought it two days ago and easily paired it with my iPad. So far so good. Then I decided to take it on the road, and little did I know... I put it in my bag, after switching it off, and went to the library. During transport, although the keyboard should have been off, pressure on the keys entered a wrong pass code on my iPad *multiple times*. So many, in fact, that by the time I got to the library my iPad was permanently disabled. I am frankly appalled that something like that could happen for no fault of my own. I hope that Apple will add a warning to the product description. The only safe way to transport it with an iPad in the same bag is to disable the Bluetooth function, since there is no guarantee that it won't turn on by itself. I have some important transcriptions of archival material that I did not back up in the past two days, and if this results in data loss when I restore my iPad this evening, it will mean I'll have wasted many precious hours of work. This is a very significant flaw, well known to the Apple store people I talked to today. Hopefully when Apple redesigns the keyboard or updates iOS they'll fix it. But for now, user beware!

Waste of money for $75. Connection is not stable. Has no keypad

    • Written by from Beaconsfield

No numeric key pad. No back-lit effects. Very unstable Bluetooth connection. Not worth the money. Use a wired keyboard for half the price.

    Just love this keyboard!

    • Written by from Glendora

I use this with my MacBook Air when I have it at home and use it like a desktop. It's very light and the keyboard has a great touch. I type very fast and there's no lag whatsoever. It's also very portable. I can just throw it in my bag when I take my Mac out. I use it with the wireless mouse and together they make a terrific combination. Also excellent battery life. I've used it every day for between 6-7 hours a day for almost 2 months and it's still at 100%.

    Excellent and Comfortable Keyboard

    • Written by from Singapore

For those who are looking for a great keyboard on which you intend to type a lot on, GET THIS. It can pair to your IOS devices, and pairs really easily. It feels comfortable, and it is tilted slightly, creating an easier environment to type with. Keys are not too chunky [like most other keyboards] and not too thin [like MB keyboards]. Battery lasts really long [My battery is at 100% from abt 1 mth ago].

    Soft aluminum

    • Written by from Miami

Very soft aluminum magnesium alloy material that is used for the keyboard frame makes it very susceptible to damage if dropped and rendering it useless especially in the area of the power button. Cool and sleek design at the cost of durability and reliability. I owned my keyboard for less than 24 hours before I found out how quickly I can waste $70

    Fragile Keyboard

Now on our third keyboard in less than 2 years with the iMac. Built to last just beyond the warranty. Bought a competitor keyboard and it works fine. Would not recommend this product to anyone.

    Amazing thank you

    • Written by from Missoula

I just want to say thank you to apple for creating such a sturdy keyboard. I was sitting in a lecture hall with my iPad and keyboard out and a fellow student knocked them both on the floor and then proceeded to step on both of them. Needless to say they both work and nothing on either are broken. Best keyboard I have ever used. It is very comfortable to type on and I seem to be making fewer mistakes then before.
    Again thank you apple.

Works beautifully, decent battery life and range

    • Written by from Monona

This keyboard seems to work really well: the range is decent, the battery life is good, and it has a compact footprint without feeling cramped. Solid construction, too. I liked it enough at the office that I bought a second one for home.

    Very disappointing keyboard.

    • Written by from Portland

I purchased this keyboard because of my years of satisfaction with Mac products. What a mistake. For the first month it functioned just fine with the exception of having to repeatedly "resynch" with my iMac. Then it started failing right in mid sentence as I was working on a document. This would occur as much as 5xs a day. Extremely frustrating. Then after 6 months it stopped working period. I will think twice before replacing it with another one or buying any mac peripherals. I can now put it in my "dead drawer" where my wireless mac mouse, mac battery charger and mac batteries permanently reside.

Very Nice But Just A Little More Refinement

    • Written by from Dallas

This keyboard is nice to use all around including writing papers, coding, and doing creative media. I really like the small footprint of the keyboard since I can have my mouse to the keyboard.

I feel Apple can improving one thing on their next iteration of the keyboard:
Just a little better keystroke feedback. I still find myself having more typos using this keyboard compared to my mechanical keyboard. If this could be properly addressed, I wouldn't take any other keyboard in the world.

I would like to give 4.5 stars if possible.

    Very Nice Keyboard

    • Written by from Harpers Ferry

I have to say with all the reviews out there saying this key board is hit or miss, I was scared to buy it. I finally put the money down and bought the wireless keyboard. If your mac supports the bluetooth required for the key board I would say buy it! It is a great. I have a 13" 2011 macbook pro and it connected immediately. Once connected, you can actually check the charge of the batteries. I would suggest before you buy go to best buy and see if you like the size. I have seen people rate this keyboard one star due to their hands being bigger. That isn't fault of apple. If you like the size and feel of the keys do not hesitate. Great keyboard. Have not run into any issues with connectivity once.

100% Back this product by apple.

    Too difficult to use...

    • Written by from Etobicoke

I wish I knew why apple does not make a full size wireless keyboard anymore. I had to return this as it is truly awful to use without the number pad. They really need to make a full sized wireless keyboard!

They don't make'em like they used to...

    • Written by from Hillsboro

I bought an apple wireless keyboard in ... 2007 with my iMac. Still using the iMac. They keyboard worked flawlessly. Last month, in a bit or rational exuberance, I decided I wanted to upgrade to the new, 2-battery version (cuz that extra battery of the old one was really slowing me down....). Got the new keyboard, plunked fresh, super-expensive Energizer Advanced batteries and commenced to use it. A week into it, the keyboard would once a day lose its connection for a few seconds and then reconnect with the iMac. The keyboard's, like, a foot away from the iMac. As the days progressed, this interruption became more frequent. Last night it was as if someone was pushing the keyboard's switch every 30 seconds: drop/find/drop/find, etc. I changed batteries, I checked the switch: nuttin'. Just kept cycling all evening. So ... I tossed the thing. $69 down the drain for a month's worth of use. I took out the seven-year-old wireless one, plunked in the two batteries and another one and ... the thing's been hummin' along just fine. Lesson of the day: one more diehard Mac follower who's getting mighty tired of buying flimsy, unreliable junk from the Big-A.

    Worthless after one month

    • Written by from Columbia

The keyboard came with the iMac that I purchased, and was a little small for my taste, so I decided to use it for my iPad 2 and get a Logitech solar keyboard for the iMac. Everything was great for about a month, and then, after the second time I had to change the batteries, the wireless keyboard would no longer connect to any device, including the iMac. There's no way to reset it, and it will no longer set up with the desktop. I'm not happy with this at all.

    Works perfectly!

    • Written by from Mount Juliet

I love this device so much, I bought a second for my iPad. Even with an iPad 2 it syncs in only a couple of seconds to connect once you press the power button. Plus the batteries last a really long time, at least several months with significant use. An added bonus is that it is lighter than any of the other rechargable keyboards that I have found that had decent ratings.
