A step down from the wired keyboard.

The wireless keyboard does not have a number pad or a USB. So now when I need to attach my camera, I have to fish around behind the screen to use a USB. The keypad is an important part of the keyboard for me and without it I'm greatly hindered. Not a wise purchase for me. I sure was looking forward to going completely wireless. Guess not.

    Where's the numberic key pad?

Took this out of the box and said, "where's the rest of it?"
Apple needs to realize that some of us graphic artists also are responsible for uploading tons of product to a website, which requires using sku NUMBERS! Greatly slows me down as I'm really quick with the key pad.
Sorry Apple, you BLEW IT for me!
    Very, very disappointed....

Excelent device, But one thing! what about the BackLight?, i had been working with my Macbook Pro a long time and when i saw this keyboard i think well could be better for me to work a long distance with a Wireless Keyboard, but in darkness you lose everything. This need backlight in the keyboard.

No number pad -- not for business users

This keyboard is a productivity killer for anyone on the business and accounting side of things. Might be OK for IT, graphics & video, and secretarial work, but definitely not for bookkeepers & number crunchers. If you work with numbers and need wireless, consider another manufacturer. You won't be happy with this keyboard.

    Anything But...

I'm an ex-microsoft pc user. Bought my iMac December,2009. I LOVE the iMac and will never go back to pc. I LOVE the Magic Mouse!
I HATE the keyboard - it has no mass- it feels 2 dimensional, it propels itself across the desk as if typing on a piece of cardboard. The keys have no 'throw' and no hollow for your fingertips to feel. After a month I found it impossible to deal with. A friend of mine gave me an old clear bottom Apple keyboard - a plug in - with two additional USB connects on the rear! Now my iMac is Totally perfect. I would not recommend this keyboard to anyone who is human.

Miserable little thing - The "Hockey Puck" of Apple keyboards

I bought this after my previous wireless (white, full-sized with clear base) Apple keyboard developed an annoying habit of skipping the letter "T," and I have to confess I'm dumbfounded by its lack of usability. I guess it's OK for casual, couch-sitting use, but for real work, it's too light, too low, and too small. I had to place it on top of a book just to bring it up to the right height, and as I type, I notice it slowly moves to the right over the course of a day -- causing a lot of typos and backspacing as the day moves on.

Really, a pretty pathetic excuse for a keyboard, and it's a shame Apple doesn't offer a real wireless keyboard for its computer line. (On the other hand, if you want a keyboard for your iPad, I suppose this is great. For a computer though, it's a bit of a joke.)

    Incomplete

Let's be real, here. If you buy an EXTERNAL keyboard to use via bluetooth, it is most likely because you wanted a fully functioning keyboard... NOT a keyboard which is just as annoyingly incomplete as the annoyingly incomplete keyboard on your laptop!!!

Number keys... a REAL "Delete" and "Backspace" key (which Mac still insists on reversing, calling backspace delete, and delete ..."forward delete."

    Come on Apple.

I'm trying VERY hard to move to Mac from Windows...and have many Apple products now including phone, itouch, iPad, MacBook Pro. But COME ON!!

Full-Size key-set, or I'll never buy or recommend another Apple Wireless Keyboard.
By the way, I'm a tech trainer for a school district adopting Apple on a huge scale.
My opinion will be, and is shared by hundreds.
You are losing sales because of your devotion to "simplicity"...that is blind to NECESSITY.

Great if they would just get rid of the Fn key

This keyboard WOULD be ideal except the stupid Fn key gets in the way. Who really uses that key anyway? I want my full size contol key back!!

Apple users against the Fn unite! (why not replace the option key on the right side with a Fn key instead?)

Alright, I was hoping they would have seen the error of their ways, but still no number pad?!? This product has its uses sure, but trying to work in a professional environment in any field pretty much requires a number pad's input.

No number keypad and eats batteries

    • Written by from Prairie Village

Functionally, the Apple Wireless Keyboard does what it's supposed to do... until you try to type in a phone number on your address book... or open the Calculator application when you are paying bills... or add number cells on your Excel spreadsheet.

Apple made the keyboard "cute" but removed the important keypad on the right side. Don't think you'll miss it? I did.

Otherwise, the keyboard works great until your batteries go dead.

The bluetooth connection on this keyboard is great. Everything connects fine, but I can't stand the ergonomics of this keyboard. I really wish Apple would produce an alternate form factor for their keyboards.

Not enough keys makes it frustrating

It's missing too many well used keys, such as the navigation keys (home and end) the PC delete key, and the number pad. The size is nice but it doesn't make up for the lack of keys.

    this keyboard is so bad...

when the first I bought broke, I thought I just had bad luck. SO i bought a second. Then that one came with a factoy problem, and all function keys weren't working. I give up, and switch to a cheaper, better wireless keyboard. After all; who cares about the look, if the thing doesn't work?

Great Keyboard - but not for the iPad

    • Written by from Arlington

30 of 46 people found this useful

Although the keyboard works great and makes typing easy on the iPad there are a few issues that Apple should find a way to correct quickly.

    1. There are no keyboard shortcuts for the following iPad uses: Home Screen, Photo Frame, Search
    2. Adding shortcuts like page reload for safari, enabling the up/down arrows in mail, keyboard shortcuts like reply in mail would be awesome.

From what I can see the keyboard with dock attached that is coming out at the end of April has all of the items from #1 addressed but not sure about #2.

A fix on these would be much appreciated.
