    keyboard

The button that holds the batteries for the keyboard in place easily works it's way loose and there does not seem to be a replacement part, instead it looks as if I have to buy an entirely new keyboard.

Plus, does not come with a travel case for protection

The keys are buttery smooth. Wireless pairing is effortless. The appearance is simple and attractive. It is light weight and strong. BUT...

The battery cap is garbage, it was difficult to thread it correctly. If I leave the batteries in there and don't use it for a week, the batteries leak acid in the compartment and deposit an unpleasant cement-like substance. At last, the poor keyboard could not stand batteries left in it and cemented the dead batteries in the compartment, sealed the battery case shut so that I could not remove them. I even bent a quarter trying to pry it open with a coin and pliers. I ain't buying this again. Like the great GWB said "Huh huh, fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me."

    Great design

When I first opened the box I was mystified. How do you turn it on? Where do the batteries go? 8-) (I'm not a great one for reading documentation before I start using something.) As I discovered the 'on' button at one end, and then the battery compartment at the other, I laughed with delight at the cleverness of this design. Ingenious and effective design is why we are willing to pay more for our Mac stuff, of course

Some have criticized the keyboard for being too small but I got used to it quickly and find it quite comfortable. Guys with big hands might not be as comfortable. I have large hands for a woman and it is fine for me. The small size and bluetooth connection allow me much freedom for placement. I like the touch and the silence. So for me, it's five-star, and I don't give those lightly.

Now that I have one myself, some of the critical reviews seem nitpicky.

I got this to go with my iPad, which I found I typed on a lot more than I expected. Works perfectly. It is so lightweight and has a similar profile to the iPad (give or take a few inches). It's convenient and talks effortlessly with my iPad. I highly recommend it.

    perfect complement to the iPad

I first used this keyboard with my new iMac. Began looking for a keyboard for my iPad and discovered these pair with the iPad. It's perfect. I had no issues with the keyboard so I knew I'd enjoy it with the iPad. I like the flexibility of having a keyboard NOT attached to the iPad. It's the perfect combination for me.

    Keys stopped working

One year and 2 weeks after purchasing this keyboard with a new 21" iMac several keys just stopped working, rendering it useless. I checked online and this seems to be a fairly common problem. I've been a Dell user for over a decade and last year switched to a Mac based on rave reviews from friends. So far I've been unimpressed. Six weeks after purchasing the iMac the hard drive failed. Now the keyboard has failed. I don't know what will fail next, but this is becoming the most expensive computer I've ever owned......and not because of the quality.

Love the keyboard, but wish it had the extended numeric keypad included like the corded keyboard. What gives? Let's do it!

    Apple Wireless Keyboard

I just recieved my Keyboard in the mail today and I LOVE it! It's so helpful on the iPad because the iPad touch screen keyboard gets very annoying after using it a lot. I'm actually typing this review with the keyboard itself. Let's just say this is my favourite keyboard I have ever used and I highly recommend it!

    Good, But could do better

The wireless is the best I've used, however, it's limited in it's function because it's without the numeric keypad. Most users will find that it's a little frustrating when you can type reasonably quickly and then slow down when ever you have to enter a telephone number or customer number etc.
We are in the 21st century and it's not unreasonable to ask expect the obvious. At the moment you have a desk top computer with a laptop keyboard. It's about time Apple spent more time thinking about how versatile the keyboard could be. Not only could it control your computer but with a little imagination it could do so much more ie, as a remote for your apple TV or regular TV. In fact any remotely operated device in the house.
There has been one minor issue in that the caps lock light failed and I had to switch off the keyboard and start it again to fix the problem. It has a good feel and a good look. Please Apple - update this product!

Not the best keyboard I've had.

Can't understand why they would sell a wireless keyboard with a desktop computer but... my first complaint was that it didn't have the side number pad. The second was that it operates on a battery that needs to be replaced. But the most annoying is when it just decides not to input what I have typed! The quality of this keyboard is not up to the usual Apple standards.

    Great when it works

I actually love this keyboard when it works. Right size to carry with my iPad for heavy notetaking etc.

Unfortunately, it is kind of hit or miss whether it will be recognized by the iPad. There seems to be no way to correct this HUGE flaw. Like other Apple products, I just want it to work ... and it doesn't

    No numpad

    • Written by from Brooklyn

42 of 53 people found this useful

No numpad on this wireless keyboard. Apple doesn't even offer a version of its wireless keyboard with one. Doesn't even consider business users who crunch numbers often. Skip this if you need a number pad. You could learn to type without it, but that was its purpose: for convenience and ease. The wired version has one. Wireless keyboards with numpads exist. Just not by Apple. Which is quite frankly ridiculously ignorant of them.

    Unbelievably good with iPhone

    • Written by from Washington

I bought the keyboard to see how it paired with my IPhone 3GS once IOS4 was released. I paired them last night and it's amazing how well it worked. While it may sound ridiculous to think of a KB for an ultra-portable iPhone, it's very useful for days you need to make long responses to emails, or write up something and you're away from your laptop. I also think it may be a better KB than the one on my MBA (Rev. 1). My fingers really flew when using it, I like the feel and responsiveness of the keys, and really adds to the functionality of the iPhone. It isn't that the touch screen KB isn't great, but for me, this one makes typing faster and more accurate. For travel, or working in a cafe without a laptop - it's ideal.

iPad and the Apple Wireless Keyboard - AWESOME

    • Written by from Cumming

This keyboard is the perfect companion for the iPad. Pairing up is a snap and it makes typing on the iPad so much easier. The iPad itself has a pretty good screen touch keyboard. But when I am sitting at the kitchen table, I can prop up the iPad and the sit back with the Apple Wireless Keyboard in my lap or move the keyboard anywhere I like. I think this is a better configuration than the iPad dock with the attached keyboard.

Typing on the keyboard is smooth too. Will I take the keyboard with me when I travel with the iPad, probably not , but the keyboard is very light and small enough to take with you if you wanted to.

Bottom line, purchasing the Apple Wireless Keyboard will be a purchase you will not regret.

    Beware When Cleaning

    • Written by from Phoenix

39 of 48 people found this useful

Using a dab of rubbing alcohol on a microfiber cloth has caused some of the keys to short. Pressing 't' causes a 't' followed by unending "'" keypresses until another key has been pressed. The same for the 'g' and 'b' keys. I've been cleaning keyboards like this for 10+ years with no problems. I've even had keyboards accidentally spilled on that continued working after sufficient drying. For what you pay, this keyboard is not reliable enough. It's a shame because I really like the Apple keyboards.

Really great keyboard, but having a MacBook experience makes it "not so good" without the backlight.
Also, as an active iPad user, I hope to see more support from iOS guys! For example, the ability to change active apps with COMMAND+TAB, etc.

When it comes to writing in a text editor, programming, graphic design, or even just basic control of your computer, The Apple Wireless Keyboard is a must have. Especially if you are a MacBook Pro user. This wireless keyboard would definitely make a great tool for using your laptop, especially when you want to sit back and use your computer from the couch as it sits on the coffee. Table. This is definitely a must have Apple product.
