Reviews for Apple Wireless Keyboard - German

This keyboard looks very pretty but I am really starting to hate it. I've been using it for several weeks now at work, and I cannot type properly on it. I make a ridiculous number of typing errors now, compared with my old standard keyboard. Since I use my keyboard mostly for typing computer code, I need to be 100% accurate. I also miss the numpad and other shortcut keys like page down, end, etc.

The keyboard is fine but if your mouse is non functioning (or lost) the desktop (an iMac in my case) is useless. It absolutely needs a trackpad or, at least, a model should be offered with a trackpad. Indeed it will have a slightly larger footprint but that is a reasonable tradeoff to some of us.

Echoing previous reviews of 95% the same layout and feel and my MBP.

The only minus is the white keys with gray letters sometimes have glare from the lights. I know... I could learn to touch type :-)

I really miss the black keys with white letters and backlighting of the MBP... that would make it *perfect* for me - bar none!

When I first opened the box I was mystified. How do you turn it on? Where do the batteries go? 8-) (I'm not a great one for reading documentation before I start using something.) As I discovered the 'on' button at one end, and then the battery compartment at the other, I laughed with delight at the cleverness of this design. Ingenious and effective design is why we are willing to pay more for our Mac stuff, of course

Some have criticized the keyboard for being too small but I got used to it quickly and find it quite comfortable. Guys with big hands might not be as comfortable. I have large hands for a woman and it is fine for me. The small size and bluetooth connection allow me much freedom for placement. I like the touch and the silence. So for me, it's five-star, and I don't give those lightly.

Now that I have one myself, some of the critical reviews seem nitpicky.

I purchased a new iMac recently, converting from the PC world and love it. The only drawback to it is the size of the keyboard. It does look cool and I like how slim and light weight it is, but for me and I would guess the average size adult, it is too small which makes it difficult to type and very uncomfortable. It would be a huge upgrade if the made it just a could of inches wider.

What The Pho is going on over at Apple?

How did this silly thing get a green flag for mainstream? I absolutely HATE it! But its nice to look at.

If you use your computer for anything important, the wireless keyboard and mouse is going to drive you nuts.

This is how it goes:
Your working on big project, your on a roll, being productive and BLAM! all of a sudden you can't type any more words! You realize the keyboard just went dead. Now what? You probably don't keep a fresh supply of batteries around the house so you go scrimmaging for batteries and pull em out of whatever you can find them in - the tv remote, your little brothers toys, your aunties dresser drawer. If all those are a no-go, then its off to the store.

When i'm motivated and on a roll the last thing i want is an interruption, especially by something like this.

I'm dumbfounded that they didn't include rechargeable something in these things and provide a usb cable, so when the battery goes dead, you simply plug the usb cable in the computer and continue to work while it charges.

C'mon now Apple, i thought you guys were smarter than this. I even kinda thought you guys were "Green".

Oh and pairing these over bluetooth and getting the machine to find and "recognize" it is another headache in itself.

My advice: If you love headaches, you'll love this product, otherwise don't buy it.

the keyboard looks nice and the keys are comfortable to press, however i don't like the small directional keys

The battery compartment holder is stupid, but my keyboard will not work with nickel zinc rechargeables, which have a 1.6 volt output. Also, being a bluetooth device, this thing is a battery hog. My Logitech keyboard runs for months and months on batteries. Other than missing a numeric pad, however, it is a pretty nice unit.

I purchase this keyboard back in Feb. 2011, I missed the side number pad because I'm a Logic user and prefer using shortcut keys. I got pass that. I loved the look of the keyboard and how clean my desk appeared without cables running acrossed. Yesterday, out of the blue, certain keys no longer responded. (Cap Lock, Delete. Space, Enter, left and right arrow) My keyboard is now useless. (only 8 month of use?)I had to plug in my old keyboard. Glad I hadn't already tossed it. :(
BTW, this is a known issue, just google it.

Purchased in 2010 to accompany my magic mouse, this has been put through its paces for ver twenty months. Has worked great with both my iPad and 2009 MacBook aluminum model, and has made getting work done while traveling much easier. It's been pretty durable and survived a couple of spills in its time. Only issue is that after loosing the end cap accidentally once, it was hard to find a replacement anywhere other than online auction sites which took over a month.
