    no warning when batteries die

the best looking keyboard on the market. but, time and time again - i get a "battery low" warning about 1 minute or less before the thing decides to shut down. useless! no time to charge up another set before it dies. that in itself is horrible usability. it's been out for awhile, and still no improvements in the software that manages it.

Case that protects the power button

Firstly, this is an excellent keyboard. I'm a very fast touch typist (I can keep up with most words in a typical lecture) and it is a pleasure to type on. I use my keyboard to take seminar, meeting, lecture, etc. notes using Pages on either my iPhone or iPad and with the keyboard. Other times I use they screen keyboard on the iPhone/iPad, so don't use the keyboard all the time. When I don't use it, I power it off. And this is why I'm giving the keyboard only 3,not 5 stars. When I carry the keyboard in my bag, in a soft case, the insanely sensitive power button gets bumped which turns on the keyboard, and keys then get bumped which has random, undesirable effects (like blasting music at inappropriate times) on whichever one of my devices it happens to pair to. I have not yet seen a good case that protects the power button. All available cases are soft and are open on the sides. I really wish someone would make a simple, inflexible plastic box that the keyboard fits in nicely. The cardboard box the keyboard came in has been my saviour so far - but how long will it last? Tupperware people - are you reading this????

Needs backlit keys like the Mac laptops

It's okay. No complaints from me about battery life or reliability. Nice weight and balance to it. The keys do seem to attract grime and dirt easily.
Biggest problem is that it needs the awesome backlighting that most of the Mac laptops have. (I would happily sacrifice tons of battery life if that's what it takes.) The backlit keys of my MacBook Air are so awesome, yet when I hook it up to the TV and take this wireless keyboard to the couch I lose that great feature.

    Why didn't Apple?

    • Written by from Port Charlotte

Why didn't Apple make this a rechargeable keyboard? They are touting their battery technology and clearly they could have added it to the keyboard with little effort and I know MAC fanatics would pay extra for that. I would

Why didn't Apple make a version with a numeric keypad? The old Apple Wireless Pro Keyboard was great with the exception of the closely spaced keys and the poor battery performance, both of which could easily have been resolved.

Why doesn't Apple offer this in black? Some people don't like white you know.

Other than that it is a great keyboard. If they added the numeric keypad I would give it a 10 instead of a 3.

it is a cool keyboard but there is nothing astounding other than it is small. i have a razer black widow (if you mac lovers even know what that is) which is WAY better with awesome dedicated macro key than this, but is 4 times the size and 10 times the weight

    Wittle Apple KeyBode.....

Aww.... such a kewt keybode..... goochy goochy goo.....

Basically, they took the keyboard from a laptop, and made it a wireless keyboard for a desktop. The only reason being so that you could keep one of your USB slots available. I've read a couple of reviews stating that it goes through batteries like water - which means you have to turn it OFF when you're done ("Sorry honey, I was turning off the computer, and the keyboard, and the mouse").

Be aware this keyboard comes with no HOME or END or forward DELETE button, and that the number keys are gone. Very annoying if you're used to those features.

The wireless mouse is nice - although, mine has lost connection a few times and is disconcerting when it happens ("Honey? The computer's frozen!")

I got these when I purchased the iMac, but you have to remember the iMac was designed for "small footprint" and "portability". SO if you plan on being portable with your computer, then these are great (just remember to turn them off). If your computer is going to sit on a desk, and not use many USB ports (and you don't want to be bothered changing batteries every couple of months) stick with what makes you comfy.

    Good Idea, Ridiculous Scale

This keyboard is fabulous: the keys are firm but responsive, and it looks great. However, there's one BIG problem: It's ridiculously small. I don't know how people use this thing, and I'm accustomed to my laptop's keyboard!

Decent Keyboard. Lacking the Num Pad

It's a nice small keyboard. Pretty simple and not too many buttons. Just wish it had a Num Pad and it would make inputing numbers in charts and word processor a whole lot easy.

    Pros and Cons

    • Written by from la crosse

Pros- it is very protable and light.
Cons- it doesnt have a number pad so i dont really like that, it takes some getting used to, and it does have display settings on it wich is great.
It doesnt have the number panel, my mom doesnt like that and complains everytime she uses it and that gets really annoying so im thinking about buying a wired keyboard.
The battery life is very good i bought it about 2 weeks ago and it came with batteries and its about 50% gone and hasnt used much.

    disappointed

I was really looking forward to the wireless keyboard and mouse. I love the look and the feel of both, but I am very disappointed with the lack of the numeric pad and delete forward key.

I can type fast on this keyboard, and I do love the wireless capability.....BUT....I think Apple really needs to rethink the missing numeric pad!

This is a beautiful mouse--sleek, responsive...and wireless. Problem: It goes through batteries every couple of weeks. I am now trying to find something as comfortable, but unfortunately, w/ a wire. Even buying in bulk, I'll pay for a new mouse in no time w/ the money I save in not buying batteries. An environmental disaster...expensive...and frustrating when working on an important project. Never thought I'd give an Apple product a bad review. I hope I never have to again.

    Love this keyboard...when it works!

I truly love this keyboard, when it works! I frequently have to re-pair and tonight, it pairs partially, meaning, it sees it, but then cannot connect. Painful! The caps light has always worked haphazardly. I have had this system for about a year now. Looks like I will be at Apple, yet again, getting another keyboard... :(

    like everything but the inconvenience

Wireless is convenient and has worked flawlessly with my new iMac for about 3 months. Keys feel good now that I'm used to them. The only drawback for me is the absence of a right-delete key. The delete key performs backspace delete. To delete to the right, the fn must be depressed at the same time as delete. Since the keys are about 11 inches apart it requires left hand to depress fn and right hand to depress delete. Quite inconvenient! Before purchasing, the salesman told me I could create a shortcut to avoid having to use both hands. I have found no one at Apple who knows how to create a shortcut to enable one to use only the right hand to right-delete. Shame on Apple!

It's okay. I REALLY want the numbers on the side back like a REGULAR keyboard. Like what they used to have! They should give us consumers a choice between the two. I use the numbers on the side a lot since I'm a math geek. :/

This is the first wireless keyboard I've used and sure like the lack of wires. Also, after 2 days, I like the touch better than I thought I would; however, the keys seem a little cramped compared to my old Apple Pro Keyboard even though the size looks about the same. Also, I know I'm going to miss the keypad. So, I'm not sure if I'll keep using it or not. I'll give it a little more time.

Great space saver but miss the right control key

I love this new keyboard for its smooth click sound, good response and excellent space saving size. Never had a mac laptop so the function key takes some time getting use to but as a heavy linux shell and emacs user I would gladly trade that function key to have the right control key back.
