The store received only two 27" Cinema Displays on Thursday 9/23/2010. One for the show room, and I got the other one.

After the easy setup, turned on the computer and there it was - just beautiful.

There is a software download required, that I had installed the night before. The screen is pretty shiny, but I don't have a problem with the glare (thus far). I bet if the monitor was only available in matte, you would hear the same number of people complaining that there should be a glossy screen option. (Just ask anyone that works in a procurement dept. of a large IT organization.)

I had to make one slight brightness adjustment. The number of open windows I can now keep on the desktop is really nice. We are talking serious real estate compared to my previous Dell 24". The clarity is stunning.

I am running an early 2009 Mac mini with this display (March 2009). I had called Apple to ensure compatibility beforehand. When they update the Mac mini to an i5 or i7, I will have a rather inexpensive upgrade, and the ability to pass on the older Mac Mini (unlike the "all in one" iMac).

    thanks

Yes, the screen is glossy, but maybe because of the direction of lighting in my room, the glossy screen doesn't bother me that much. I am a software programmer and use the screen for coding. The text is sharp and easy on the eyes, as long as you turned down the brightness level. The 27-inch monitor provided a lot of screen real estate for my coding environment. I am loving it.

I have a Macbook and wanted to view my photos, movies on a larger scale. I did my investigation on the 27'cenima display. I have had my display for three weeks now, LOVE IT! It is well worth the money. This is how to compute LOL.

I read these reviews and laugh. Adjust the light in your room! This is my second monitor from Apple. The 24 was a great monitor also but the 27 is, well, better. To the critics:

    1. It was NEVER meant to work with your PC. Grow up. Stop trying to get your 299.00 Walmart PC to work with a superior product.
    2. The glossy screen brings colors to life, like no other monitor on the market.
    3. LED technology is the only way to light a monitor. Totally true to life images.
    4. It just works, always. Isn't that nice for a change?
    5. Built in speakers are better than before and sound great.
    6. It was NEVER meant to work with your PC. Yeah I know I said that before but I really like that one. With so much junk on the market why would you criticize a product that actually does what it claims.

The only reason this display does not get 5 stars from me is due to the price. I am cheap, and I think Apple could have put this on the market for about $200.00 less, but I still bought one because the screen is GLOSSY, and I like it that way. Glossy is good.

Great job Apple now lower the darn price.
