Reviews for Apple Magic Mouse

basically it has trouble pairing with bluetooth, not just me, but everyone that I've talked to who just bought the 15" retina macbook is having trouble. apple should fix this issue, because it's not the cheapest mouse :(

I think the good reviews are written by people who have not used the mouse for very long. I would have given it a good review also but after using it now for a few months this mouse gets the thumbs down for several reasons.
1) The anthropometrics are extremely poor, meaning it is extremely uncomfortable to touch after a while, because of the sharp edge around it, can someone tell me if it's OK to file the edge round or will I ruin it? Make it comfortable the next time, that's basic industrial design!
2) It is also too heavy but someone mentioned that lighter batteries might be available.
3) The worst thing is the touch sensitive surface, although a great novelty and makes scrolling fun it also has a MAJOR problem of causing the window to scroll or zoom when you don't want it to! just by touching the mouse. This happens all the time. This can get somewhat very annoying. Try zooming in Cinema 4D. Totaly wacked. Just now I touched my mouse and this window jumped back to a previous page accidentally. In cover flow it scrolls so fast it's difficult to stop where you want. In PKR poker the scene jumps in or out so often and you have to constantly correct for this. When playing a first person shooter game the weapons you use will change when you don't want them to. Did anyone check this out before approving this design?
For the next design of the mouse I suggest that either the touch sensitive area be small and in the area of a middle mouse button, and why not make that area a button as well, GREAT idea. Maybe with this magic mouse would it be possible for you guys at Apple to write software to allow a user to define the touch sensitive area. There is no reason to have the entire surface to be touch sensitive.

On the plus side, it looks cool, I think that's the main thing. (not) And it's wireless, that's wonderful, and it tracks very nicely and precisely.
But overall this mouse should have been left on the design shelf as well as the hockey puck mouse, and the mighty mouse and the black keyboard. I suggest Apple fire the Industrial designer and hire me. I would make you the most awesome mouse in the world. LOL but it's true.

But it's cool like I said and it will sell because of that, even if it doesn't work non to good. Next time hopefully, keeping fingers crossed.

I was totally in love with this mouse. I had really gotten used to video editing with the older Mighty Mouse, but was tired of trying to clean the track ball every month or so.

When I picked the Magic Mouse up I thought my prayers had been answered, and they were. I was able to edit a lot faster, life was good. Then one day the Magic Mouse turned into the old Apple one click mouse. I couldn't swipe or do any gestures, I couldn't even get the right click to work.

I searched through forums and after trying all solutions nothing worked. My Magic Mouse now sits in a drawer with the twisty-ties, cables, and other useless computer junk.

I purchased 4 of these mice for different computers. 2 (50%) have failed within about a year (long enough no warranty). I have had dozens and dozens of mice from many manufactures over the last 40 years and have never seen such poor quality.

Bought 6 iMacs that came with these magic mouses for work. Unfortunately after 6 months of everyday use...5 of these already have stopped working or our staff had to constantly unplug batteries and reset or reconnect via blue tooth. The iMac were a hit when we changed from PCs..but these mouse really stink!! Everyone has bought 3rd party wired mouses now. Sure, these mouses were cool looking, but they just don't live up to everyday use. Please avoid if you want more than the cool factor.

Two words: NO EXPOSE. Well yet another Apple mouse that looks good but is out performed by almost every other mouse. Maybe someday I'll be able to use a Apple mouse with my Apple computer.

...it lets you go back one page instantly by dragging two fingers across the top right to left. In this regard its much faster and easier than a key combo and it becomes intuitive very quickly.

The people who are complaining about the ergonomics of Magic Mouse are correct. The design is too thin, and you must hold it differently and adjust your grip constantly because you don't have the range of motion with your pointer while resting the heel of your hand on the mousing surface. Yes, it is beautiful but the Mighty Mouse is a much better shape for moving the pointer.

At least the tiny non-cleanable track pea is gone. If it were not for this constant source of irritation i would prefer the Mighty Mouse heavily.

The Magic Mouse is fun and kewl, but the discomfort of using it for long periods of time make me less than thrilled with it.

This has got to be the worst product Apple has made yet. Even if it was quarter the price, it would still be a waste of money! The mouse doesn't feel good in the hand; it just doesn't work ergonomically. Design over substance! Theoretically, its great on paper, the finger movements are all very Apple; but the Bluetooth lags, and the mouse is slow: even at the optimum speed. Very poor Apple, I am very disappointed with this. If I could return it and take back my money, I would.

Who cares if it looks cool? It is literally a pain to use. It has no hand support. The touch sensors are annoying. I can't use Photoshop at all because this stupid mouse is constantly zooming in and out! Apple really has to stop designing product based on on aesthetics. They constantly drop the ball on practicality. No apple product is worth the money, and this mouse is a prime example. Can I rate lower than one star?
