Nice but often makes it difficult to get work done when the batteries go out about every two weeks. Frustrating!~ It looks pretty but I am ready to throw it across the room because it keeps disconnecting every few minutes right now. Lord forbid the batteries die in the middle of a big report and then you have to figure it out manually.

    Magic Mouse

The Magic Mouse is simply extraordinary not only in its simplicity but its function! Just like any Apple gadget it is pricey but quality.

    Hard to get used to

    • Written by from Debrecen

I don't own this mouse, but use it constantly in college, and I must say, although it looks ergonomic, I find it too small and heavy. The pads on the bottom get dirt constantly, which makes the movement stutter. The other problem I had, is that the surface is very sensitive, you need a whole new approach for moving, and clicking. The swipes are great, but the surface is sticky, so you need to clean it constantly. I wanted to buy this mouse, before I started using it, because I really wanted to free up a USB port (The only 2 USBs on the MBP are a joke), but this is just too expensive, and not worth it for me, I would rather go to a wireless, but not multitouch mouse!

    Practical, versatile

    • Written by from CHICAGO

I'd give it 4.5 stars if I could but half stars aren't an option, so five it is.

Let's get the concerns out of the way first; the plastic top scratches a bit too easily, which is an issue given the need to use it as a trackpad, and I'd like if it paired a bit faster on startup or wake-from-sleep. So take care when throwing it in a briefcase to avoid scratches; be patient when starting up.

Other than that, it is hard to fault. The slim profile is far more ergonomic than appears at first, because it means you don't have to hold or fold your hand up; and the resulting small volume means that one mouse can do the work of both "portable" and "desktop" mice. It's very easy to keep clean, because the single button does the work of everything -- trackwheel, left and right click, etc -- and can just be wiped off. The tracking is very good, so long as you either have a relatively smooth plastic or fake wood desktop or mousepad (not quite so good on old fashioned wood, unless it's well-lacquered, as the mouse can seem to stick or catch on the surface) and the click action is absolutely perfect for avoiding repetitive strain. And of course Bluetooth means no messing with plug-in transmitters (and now that computers have Bluetooth 4, less power drain as well).

I am so very happy with this Magic Mouse!

    • Written by from Hopkins

I am so very glad I don't have to keep fighting to keep my wired mouse's button working! It was awful! Awful? It was a nightmare!! Especially while I was working and on the clock. And there is no cord for the cat to chew! It may sometimes seem sensitive, but it is no where near the aggravation I had trying to keep that scrolling button working on my other mouse. And the seeming sensitivity problem may be with the application - not the mouse. I think it is GREAT!

    SO COMFORTABLE AND USEFUL!

    • Written by from toronto

At first, I was thinking if should I buy this. i am a poor highschool student who has a macbook pro.my trackpad is kinda difficult to use coz we do a lots of "click and drag" coz of our presentations. then i give it a shot (thinking that i could return this to the store and give my money back) but when i tried it, IT IS SO COMFORTABLE AND USEFUL!! i mean,i never feel any regrets for purchasing this.totally worth of money.even i used my money as my monthly allowance, its totally worth it.i can use it for a very long time, unless apple will release a new mouse that is way more better than this.but you cant ask for more for using this. APPLE never disappoint me.

Simple little mouse that stays clean. I dislike dirty mice and this one looks nice even after six months. No incompatibilities either.

    Good Product but low quality

    • Written by from Singapore

I like the functionality of the Magic Mouse, but sadly the quality does not live up to Apple standards. Mine has low usage and stopped moving the cursor, but the other functions worked. When I purchased a new one, the store told me they get about 6 months life. This is poor when taking the price into consideration and comparing to other mice.

the sensitivity one these mice are utter c r a p.
wired mice are the way to go being more direct and fluid like.
the only thing that i think is goos about it the scroll anywhere on the mouse. but other than that, go with a logitech. 26$ for a mouse that you doing have to be disappointed with. or be hip and write a less-than-3-star review

    I tried . . . I really tried

    • Written by from Minneapolis

My Logitech Revolution mouse was crapping out, and saw my window to add another Apple product to my desktop. So, I reluctantly changed up my mousing workflow to try the Magic Mouse. Not only was it uncomfortable (the crisp edges dug into my fingers), but this mouse is way to prone to ghost gestures--scrolling and clicking when your hand hits the wrong place. It's going back in the box, and back to the store, and my Logitech is coming back out of the garbage. Trust me, it isn't an easy decision, but this is one thing that Apple has not mastered.

    I'd love it if....

It didn't constantly have weird ghost movements on screen or simply lag or not move at all when I move the mouse. But the gestures are nice. Too bad the mouse doesn't work properly.

    LOVE

The only thing I find extremely annoying is that I have to use a mouse pad with mine because my desk is glass and the laser doesn't register the glass as a usable surface.

    Another great Apple product

    • Written by from Richmond

Love this mouse. I love how you can do all the things with the mouse just like with the trackpad. However the way this mouse make you hold your hand does hurt after a while of using it. If it had been designed differently I probably would have given this mouse a 5 star rating.

    Best mouse ever

    • Written by from Los Angeles

I've been using a mouse since they were first introduced and this is by far the most useful, fast and effective input device I've had the pleasure of using on a daily basis.

I use all of the shortcuts with the touch surface for maximum productivity on my 27" iMac, like switching between desktops, scrolling etc.

I wasn't sure if I'd like it at first (I was a dedicated user of the original Microsoft Intellipoint user) but once I saw how much time it saved me and how much more productive I could be, it was love everlasting. Been using it for over a year and anything less makes me frown.

Works great, but a huge battery drain

    • Written by from Seattle

I love the way the mouse functions, no disappointment there. The negative is that I probably use this mouse 40-50 hours a week, and the batteries need to be replaced every 3-4 weeks. My previous mouse was a Logitech wireless mouse and I needed to replace the batteries once every 9 months or so.

If you're keen on constantly replacing batteries, this is the mouse for you.

If is working is good, but....

    • Written by from Winnipeg

whatever I'm trying to do just get disconnected randomly.
Works for hours, and suddenly is like dead (Disconnected - message on the screen) again is connected, again disconnected... you got it...
It is frustrating and should be a recall from Apple - looks like thousands are dealing with same issues.
    Not recommended to buy!

    Love This Mouse

    • Written by from Kealakekua

I labored long over the decision to choose this mouse, but after having used it for about two months now, I am thrilled to have made the choice. Like most Apple products, it utilizes newest technologies to create an awesome user experience. I use my mouse for a variety of chores, but most critical is drawing and detail oriented design work in Adobe CS products. This mouse’s technology actually reduces extra clicks and key commands, and makes working with it more productive. I have not found it to track too fast or jerkily, or had difficulty controlling the cursor. In my opinion, this mouse’s touch movements are smooth and efficient. The added plus is its wireless nature – not having an extra cord to hinder its movement, or clutter my desk is simply smart design. I love it ~ thank you Apple!

    Was ok, now it's useless!

    • Written by from Nolanville

When I first bought this expensive paperweight it worked and connected pretty well. Having an iPad 3 and MacBook helped me with the swiping technique, though I agree with several how you can be knocked back into previous pages. Now I get connectivity issues. It WON'T connect at all. I have had the mouse for longer than 3 months so the warranty is useless. I will NOT recommend this and would rather take up a precious USB port with any other kind of mouse.
