Freakin' awesome mouse - sucky battery life

    • Written by from Florence

I LOVE my magic mouse. Navigation is made almost disgustingly easy and it's just so cool! My only dislike is the length of the battery life. I've had it for about 3 months and have changed the batteries about 5 times. Granted, this could probably be helped if I turned it off when I was done, but who really remembers to do that? It's definitely not a deal breaker, as I'll rave about it to anyone who asks, but be sure to keep a good stock of batteries around.

    Overall ... Pretty Impressive

I just purchased this mouse and have been using it for almost a half day now. It's looks are stunning - pictures don't do it justice. Of course, like all things in the world, it's not perfect.

Let's start with the ergonomics. It's obvious; it's definitely not the most comfortable mouse out there - it's just too sexy though, so you just won't care. In any case, it's not even that bad! I was a former Logitech mouse user so I definitely have experience ergonomic, comfortable mice. The magic mouse is going to take some getting used to for sure, but once you do it's really not bad at all!

If you're thinking about upgrading from the Apple Mighty Mouse ... DO IT! The might mouse was terrible - I had so many problems with the scrolling using that stupid trackball.

Overall ... I do recommend this mouse to anyone looking for something to compliment their Apple computer's beautiful design and their Apple keyboard.

    Almost Perfect

    • Written by from San Antonio

This mouse is truly magical! There is no doubt Apple provides a caliber product. What keeps this from being a perfect piece of hardware? No USB recharging capabilities. Wireless mice are nothing new. Apple's spin on the mouse breathes new life into an old idea. Why not take it to the next level? The design is sleak and sexy. An ergonomic feel and precise onscreen response pushes this mouse ahead of the pack. The innovative interface allows intuitive navigation for the end user. What the end user will be wondering though is, why can my ipod and iphone charge via USB and not my wireless smart mouse? USB rechargable Magic Mouse from Apple. Hey, there's an idea. Wireless keyboard review is next...

Good mouse. Really stylish and beautiful. Only thing I didn't like about it was the price, but if you really want a good mouse and you're willing to invest some money I would definitely get one

Don't blame the tracking issues on the hardware

    • Written by from Hillsboro

As many others have complained the Magic Mouse is having slow tracking issues. This should have been fixed in a OS X update rather than having to install a 3rd party app such as "MouseZoom". The problem lies with the tracking speed granularity which can also be manually modified with the following command: "defaults write -g com.apple.mouse.scaling VALUE", where VALUE is a non negative number - just experiment a little bit and try small increments until it's been fixed.
However, the hardware itself is authentic Apple, stylish, simplistic and sexy. The mouse does have a button but the scroll is touch based. Sometimes it can hinder web navigation when both button and touch are pressed simultaneously.
Overall I am very satisfied with my purchase.

Vast improvement over mighty mouse, but they could have done much more.

    • Written by from Raleigh

The removal of the ball alleviates many problems of a fouled scroll ball from its predecessors. The annoying problem of the misinterpreted right button click from the mighty mouse was also corrected. So this mouse is a pleasure to use on the basis of the elimination of these problems alone. The scroll gesturing and the zoom is a much more natural motion than with the old undersized ball of the mighty mouse. I think Apple missed the boat with what they could have done with the gesturing, like adopting the pinch motions from the Iphone/Ipad for zoom control, saving the user from reaching for the key. They also eliminated the side buttons and the center click with no replacement. So you will need to assign corner zones for expose and the dash board. They could have easily added extra gestures for these functions and many more.
Over all, the Magic mouse is a vast improvement over the Mighty Mouse, but it remains an unfinished work of art.

    Love it

I use it with a mac book pro and love the product. There is a very small delay but not a big deal for me. I use it for basic functions like web browsing and word. I would not use the mouse for gaming and/or photo shop though. All and all i would give it a thumbs up

Good mouse, but would like to give 3.5 stars!

    • Written by from Lynnwood

I just bought the Mighty Mouse and I'm having some trouble with moving it on an "Oriental Rug" looking mouse pad with complicated patterns, which I dearly love. I needed to slow down on my movement with the mouse on this particular mouse pad. On the other hand, I tried the Mighty Mouse again on an ordinary bright red circular mouse pad from IKEA with my normal "mouse-moving speed", it worked fine. It also worked great on my light wood color dining table (no pad).

So, I guess it's made to work on multi-surface, EXCEPT complicated pattern mouse pads. Overall, it's a great mouse, but it comes across as very flimsy. I'm afraid if I drop it, it will shatter or chip one of the corners. I really wish Apple would come up with some kind of mouse carry case or glove.

    So Far So Good...

Picked this up lately at the local apple yesterday. Been nice so far. After months of fighting with a sticky trackball life is good. Still getting used to it. Found on some sights the zoom is a little touchy though.

Evaluation - New Apple Magic Mouse

    • Written by from Woodbridge

We are very pleased with our new mouse. We have a large screen IMAC, and our previous mouse (original) was extremely difficult to manipulate when changing screens, apps, etc. In contrast, with this mouse we can effortlessly navigate the entire screen in one pass. One open issue, what is the battery life of this product with normal usage? We shall see.

    Very Pleased

    • Written by from APO

I'm very pleased with the mouse. It's a little different than other mice but takes only a few minutes to get used to. Take your time and try to hold it in a store or use it before buying.

If I could change anything, I would like the mouse to have a recharging cradle similar to iPhone.

    What happened to Spaces?

    • Written by from Kenosha

I just got it and have to say, this is the best mouse from Apple. However, I do work with Spaces quite a bit and do resent the fact that it can not be activated with one click as I did with the third button in the mighty mouse.

Overall a great mouse, but it doesn't make sense to me that Apple will stop supporting one of the best features of it's latest OS.

I've owned two of the previous wireless mice made by Apple. They were great until they lost the ability to scroll. This new one is amazing! I have confidents that Apple has fixed those issues with the old and made this new one even better. I don't know how they do it, but they've it well.

    Works Great, but HEAVY.

    • Written by from Calgary

The mouse works great for mousing duties. However, if you are a graphic designer, then you'll need a mouse that it more accurate and sensitive. The features are neato, and after using this mouse for only a couple of hours, I was completely used to it. It also works on ANY surface. The only really negative thing is that it is very heavy. Ironically, the weight of the mouse with no batteries is just about the perfect weight. I read somewhere that Li-ion batteries may be lighter, but I think that they would have to be a lot lighter for you to work with it for a long period of time (ie. 3 hours +) and not get a tired wrist/hand. Good price and functionality for a bluetooth mouse though.

Have to change batteries every 3 weeks

    • Written by from New York

The mouse itself has incredible design and best scrolling I've ever used on a mouse. Even compared to a Mighty Mouse, which scroll ball has to be cleaned weekly. The cleaning procedure of this one is done by my jeans. I give it 4 stars because of extensive battery usage (have to change batteries every 3 weeks, iMac is used 8-12 hours a day) and sharp edges, which brings some discomfort on a long day use, especially I feel it when doing repetitive tasks. Looking forward for Apple to fix battery issue. Meanwhile I've ordered a pack of Eneloop rechargeables.

It's lighter than the old wireless mighty mouse.
It's worth the 70$ . It just gets a lot of scratches.
