Smooth transition from Mighty to Magic Mouse

I used the Mighty Mouse and loved it, but like most people I experienced problems with the scroll ball. The Magic Mouse has no scroll ball, it uses some sort of "touch screen" technology. It's great, I absolutely love it. I'm a video editor & web surfer.

The only downside is it's missing 2 buttons the Mighty Mouse has. Other than that if you're switching from the Mighty to the Magic Mouse you'll probably be very pleased as I am..

I've had the mouse for a couple of years and no complaints. I have it on a mouse pad, it does everything it's suppose to do. Battery life varies but I think I get at least 2 or 3 months out of batteries.

    Best mouse hands down

I bought this mouse to use with my imac and it works like a charm. I love the build quality you really feel like you are getting your $70 for it. The touch pad is extremely responsive and works better than a iphone screen. I edit videos in my spare time and this mouse brings me closer to my work than ever before. Apple has done a great job designing this mouse, I love it!!

    Some functions stopped working

I bought this mouse to use with my Macbook. After a few months of use the scrolling function no longer works. I've tried taking out the batteries, re-syncing the device with my computer and nothing seems to work. I when to apple store for help and they refused to believe me. After syncing it with a store computer and the same issues were present the employee just shrugged and said buy a new one, but I can't guarantee it will work any better. Frankly I'm not impressed that half the functions of this mouse don't work.

    Logitech is far superior

Why? Because Logitech just works. Does not do odd things, or fail to do things I expect. For example, this mouse's Ctl+ scroll= zoom DOES NOT WORK in Safari, or on the desktop. Works on Firefox, but not on Safari. ironically, no Mouse settings give a clue as to why it does it. I could try googling forums, and defeats the purpose of getting an Apple product.

Double tap for Mission Control? Do so if you want to hit ENTER, as you cannot predict when it shall work versus just left or right click. As for other gestures, no matter how clean, sensitive or co-ordinated one is, one cannot predict what a gesture will achieve. In the end, to sum it up, is waste of time. Not as in a waste of time getting it, but literally, a waste of time by loosing time precious time with a mouse that takes you on unpredictable journeys. Reminds me of Vista and Microsoft products.

I got to say, i've been waiting to get the magic mouse for a while ever since i got my mac and i got to say, not only is the design beautiful but it also works very well. the multi touch gestures are amazing! Just takes a while to get used to it after using my trackpad for so long, but for me, this is a well made product.

The mouse is very quick and responsive ..... And it can do more than any mouse I've ever owned .... Even have one for my MacAir ..... Best $69 spent ....

As for batteries, I use rechargeable and yes it goes thru them faster than my old mouse, but it does more too .... Not an issue ..... Much smarter mouse!

    Stylish, but Impractical

    • Written by from Arlington

Although stylish, this mouse is not practical. It loses the connection to the computer so often that I frequently find it easier to use the touchpad than to click on the appropriate icons to reconnect the mouse every ten minutes. Additionally, the battery life is very short. I had to replace the battery after only a few months of receiving the mouse. And I only use the mouse for typical web surfing.

the best most simplistic mouse ever. It makes using a mac so much easier. I went from having a pc mouse on a mac mini and it just didn't work as well as the magic mouse. it is the best mouse ever for mac....NO TRACKPAD!!!!!!!!!

    Save your money!!!

Probably the worst creation apple has ever made. Between the random zoom in and outs, page swipes, and connection losses, this is just horrendous. Not to mention the amount of batteries needed. I have to change the batteries at least once a week. I thought a wireless mouse would be the way to go, so I could save a USB port, but I couldn't wait to throw this out the window. After many frustrating hours of usage, I decided to get a standard mouse that WORKS. Sorry Apple, hit the design floor again and figure this out. The only reason I gave it 1 star is because I couldn't give it 0.

This isn't a review, so much as a helpful tip/comment. There are plenty of people complaining about hand pain after/during use. I believe (and I may be wrong) that they are holding it wrong. There is a picture in the product overview of a hand holding the mouse the correct way, and that causes no pain (for me). I think that maybe some people have pain because they are holding it differently. So, I suggest looking at the picture first, because it might just save you pain later.

(There are occasional connection problems, but that is expected from any wireless anything)

What a wonderful mouse to use. Elegant, clean, nice, etc... Just beautiful. I would advise checking one out in the store to get see if you can handle the shape as it is not for everybody. However, I love it and its worked wonderfully for the last 2 years.

    Great Mouse !!!

I have three of these mice - and have not had a problem with any of them. They work with either regular batteries or rechargeable batteries (Apple or any 1.2v NiMH batteries). Regular batteries will last much longer than rechargeable ones - but in general the battery life meets or exceeds expectation. I am not sure why so many people are giving poor reviews. After using this mouse - I find it very difficult and awkward to use other mice. I use the Magic Mouse quite a bit (at least 4 hours per day) - and I can't say that it has caused any hand cramping or discomfort.
