As far as maneuvering around a desktop - great. Less than great is the way this device gobbles up batteries - about every two weeks two more AAs. Also takes a while for the bluetooth to kick in.

After I heard about this mouse on the RSS feed, I read the information on the web site. Since I took their advertisement for gestures as a similarity to the portable trackpads, I went to the Apple Store and tested it on one of their presentation machines.

Unfortunately I got quite disappointed as the new gestures feature merely replaces the scroll ball of the mighty mouse rather than be able to touch-click. Therefore, this mouse is roughly the same as the mighty mouse with one less moving part in it.

If they put the actual gesture possibilities into it like the portable trackpads have, I'd buy one.

It looses connection from the computer so much! and sometimes it takes 10 minutes to connect! but it is a cool mouse but needs improvement.

this mouse defiantly goes leaps and bounds beyond the other mice that mac has came out with ( the one with the little ball in the middle–not great). my only problem is that i have to change the battery so much. i think this mouse would be perfect is there was a rechargeable hub or came with a usb option.

I love they way you scroll with it and I find it to feel comfortable. sometimes the clicking goes whack and it takes every click as a right click which can be annoying. I hate that it requires batteries because i keep having to recharge mine and somehow my mouse just broke and won't turn on. anything wireless should have built in battery that can be charged with a chord. If it had that it would be perfect but its not much use since mine is just broken now.

I love the touch scrolling of this mouse..really a great Idea and it works really great, the tracking is awesome. However, the feeling of the mouse in my hand was pretty lame...the mouse is so non ergonomic its not funny, feels really flat. The mighty mouse was more ergonomic than this mouse. This mouse feels very uncomfortable to use. Would I buy it..nah I'd pass, there will be more comfortable options out by other manufactures soon enough. Oh well.

After a slight getting used to period I rather liked the feel and usability of it. The touchpad works pretty smoothly, and the mouse itself is pretty responsive and simple. Just one problem though, it lacks my favorite feature from the mighty mouse, the exposé option. I can't imagine why apple would choose to leave this feature out of the next generation mouse. The convenient side buttons are gone and there's nothing replacing them. The lack of options for this mouse is a bit of a letdown, there's not many options in assigning commands to the buttons. You'd think that a multi-touch surface would allow for a lot of options, but that is not the case. I'm picking mighty over magic any day.

When I first heard that Apple made the move to eliminate, the scroll ball, I thought it was a great idea. The scroll ball constantly got dirty, and the scrolling would cease to function. So you had to be constantly cleaning the thing, which was annoying. Not to mention the high price tag that Apple put on the things, despite the fact that other brands were cheaper, and of higher quality. So when I learned that the functioning parts were sealed off to outside elements, and that the entire thing functioned with light, I thought it was a brilliant idea, and finally gave in and bought one. But when I set it up, I came to the shocking realization that there is no scroll ball button, or side buttons. Apple just entirely eliminated them. I mean, I know they were not the most popular, and widely used feature, but there were some "power users" who did use all the features. So to just entirely eliminate them, without offering an alternative, seems really stupid. I was about to take mine back, until I learned about a 3rd party app, call MagicPrefs, that fills the voids Apple left, and allows you fully utilize the Magic Mouse's technology. If Apple was smart it would follow the example of this software, but only God knows, what sort of pathetic company politics, undermine some of the decisions made at Apple. If you buy a Magic Mouse, then it is absolutely essential that you download, and install this software. You will get the most of your Magic Mouse. Magicprefs.com, it's free too!

The mouse works great and it's really comfortable to use but it drains the battery ultra fast!! I need to replace it every two weeks. Insane.

THIS CAN'T BE GOOD TO THE ENVIRONMENT.

I have had my iMac May 2011 version with the magic mouse since it came out. I love the mouse. Only problem is I have been scotch taping the cover on since almost four months after I bought the thing. I call Applecare one time about another issue and the tech and I were BSing for lack of a better term. I mentioned that to him about having to tape the cover on the back of the magic mouse, and he replied oh I have been doing that here for months as well. Do I need to say more. Obviously they need to pay the Chinese a tad more to actually build a cover that once the little slide gets worn in the slightest still works.
