    Love This Mouse

I labored long over the decision to choose this mouse, but after having used it for about two months now, I am thrilled to have made the choice. Like most Apple products, it utilizes newest technologies to create an awesome user experience. I use my mouse for a variety of chores, but most critical is drawing and detail oriented design work in Adobe CS products. This mouse’s technology actually reduces extra clicks and key commands, and makes working with it more productive. I have not found it to track too fast or jerkily, or had difficulty controlling the cursor. In my opinion, this mouse’s touch movements are smooth and efficient. The added plus is its wireless nature – not having an extra cord to hinder its movement, or clutter my desk is simply smart design. I love it ~ thank you Apple!

I've had this mouse for a few years and it still works just as good as when I first bought it. Great mouse.

When I first bought this expensive paperweight it worked and connected pretty well. Having an iPad 3 and MacBook helped me with the swiping technique, though I agree with several how you can be knocked back into previous pages. Now I get connectivity issues. It WON'T connect at all. I have had the mouse for longer than 3 months so the warranty is useless. I will NOT recommend this and would rather take up a precious USB port with any other kind of mouse.

I've never hated an apple product before - yes that's right HATED BUT I HATE THIS ONE. Your magic mouse regular sends my pages off to god knows where just about the time I finish writing them and requires I start all over again. I've had it with this useless piece of junk. I've made every effort to learn what the magic is to getting this to stop bouncing my pages around and snatching them away and I'm finally giving up. It is unstable, unpredictable, and I'm bringing this piece of JUNK back to the store tomorrow for an old fashioned wired mouse if necessary. Someone really screwed up on this one. Steve Jobs would not be very pleased with this mouse that acts like a rat. I urge who ever is considering buying one of these things not to do it. You'll be sorry if you do.

I have two Magic Mice. One stays with a Macbook Air; the other with a MacBook Pro.

The mouse with the Air works flawlessly. It never disconnects from the Air, even at low battery levels.

The mouse with the MacBook Pro? Well, to use a technical term: Its relationship with the MBP is poor. In the past half hour (at 96 percent of battery level), it has disconnected three times. It has become a routine occurrence. The MPB is running 10.8.1.

So, is it the mouse? The MPB? The OS? I don't know. All I know is this combination doesn't work satisfactorily. Thus I am a dissatisfied Apple consumer. But of what? Mouse? Mac? The OS?

Wish I knew. (And then Apple tells me some words cannot be used in my review. None I used was profane. Thanks, Big Brother.)

I'm shopping for a mouse, but I just can't buy another one of these

I've got at least four of these. I love the finger action for scrolling; I'm going to miss that. I love the simple feel of it. But this mouse just has problems. It eats up batteries like crazy. I always have to have two mice ready for a work week, one mouse has a charger, one goes on batteries. I keep a pack of batteries at all times. But this mouse can't be trusted. Sometimes it will just quit working -- new batteries, charged up... doesn't matter. It just disconnects. Sometimes, it simply won't track. That is the most annoying. I'm trying to work and I'm constantly fiddling with this mouse to see what the problem is now: need batteries? bad surface? hates my dress?

I can never trust that this mouse is going to work and I am sick of it.

    DESIGN HOPE FOR THE BEST.
APPLE DESIGNERS THINK THAT ADULTS HAVE THE SAME HAND AS KIDS. MOUSE IS SMALL FOR HAND! OF NORMAL PERSON! BATTERY DONT LIVE LONG.

Don't leave your uncharged batteries in. It happened to me. I tried to changed them for new ones and it wouldn't go on. On Technical Support they said that it died. And that the warranty works for only 3 months. You would expect more form an Apple product and as an industrial designer myself I feel very dissapointed.

The mouse has its pros and cons,

    PROS:
its sleek and has a very nice finish to it.

    CONS:
its quiet expensive then again it is a touch mouse and its from apple. Also, swiping on the mouse is a bit clumsy and at time diffcult.

I plan on getting the trackpad and seeing how that works. i hope it works better!

    Cool features. HORRIBLE ERGONOMICS

    • Written by from Hattiesburg

Good idea, cool looks but thats about it. The motion gestures and scrolling you can do are handy but sometimes it is too sensitive or a left click will register as a right click. My biggest complaint is the shape. This mouse is for the most part flat on top with only a little bit of curve (does not fit naturally to your hand) If you will be using it for extended periods of time for programs such as Illustrator or Photoshop this mouse simply won't do. I have had to stop using mine completely because it makes my hand hurt.

not for gaming, heavy battery consumption

i really like the feel of this mouse, and love the multitouch when it's implemented well in the app i'm using. but there are a few things that drive me nuts about this mouse:

    1. this mouse eats AA batteries like a hyper kid eats candy from a Halloween pumpkin. i go through a pair a month. makes me wish for a wired version.

    2. right-click is unreliable. after enabling it in system preferences, sometimes i get a right click and sometimes i don't. not a fan of the alternative (having to hold down control key).

    3. can't tweak scroll speed sensitivity. try playing a game with this mouse that uses the scroll wheel as an input and you'll see what i mean.

i'm just about ready to dump this mouse for one with distinct buttons and a regular scroll wheel.

The magic mouse for all intents and purposes is fantastic.

The issue, and ONLY issue I have with this device is the slightest graze will knock you back a webpage when surfing the web. I recently lost a good solid hour of work thanks to that feature on the mouse.

    A Challenge to Use

    • Written by from SANTA CLARA

21 of 28 people found this useful

Apple's Magic Mouse is visually beautiful and well built, but a challenge to use. The shape doesn't fit naturally to the hand. The lack of conspicuously different buttons causes unwanted scrolling. The position of the sensor is too far forward causing the cursor to halt when the mouse moves to the top of the mouse pad. In brief, the mouse movements are unpredictable.

    Irritating to say the least

Often times, it loses connection connection as often as 1-2 times per minute. Then I have to wait 30 seconds until it connects again. I have to put fresh batteries in it about every 3 weeks or the frequency of disconnects increases. This is totally unacceptable to me, especially when you consider windows all seem to be void of arrows to scroll at the side and bottom of open windows now.
The cost of batteries for a year is enough to put me in a nasty mood. There's no excuse for this.
I'm shopping now, to see if there is an acceptable replacement.

Worked for a couple of months

I love the mouse. But today started getting the "Connection lost" syndrome. Even with a fresh set of batteries and the control panel showing 100% and a reboot. I'll see how long I can tolerate this and if it doesn't get better I may have to go the Logitech route. Shame too because it is easy to use left or right handed.

    Coolest mouse ever

Magic mouse is really a magic!
Design is fantastic and features are versatile. In most times, I do not need keyboard because I can control my mac book with many kinds of gestures. If you install magic prefs, which is for free, you can add more gestures such as tip the apple logo or swipe four fingers. You can also assign short cuts in Magicprefs. So I play and stop itunes tipping apple logo on my magic mouse. Isn't it cool?

Also it is robust. A couple of logitech mice I have used could not last more than eight months; however, magic mouse has no problem so far for more than one year.
