    Too touchy

I usually like Mac/Apple products, but this mouse is just plain frustrating. It looks nice, but that's about it. It's too sensitive/touchy. Even after several months of use, I'm not used to it. I still end up clicking things I don't mean to click and can't control the scrolling properly. And my mac will never respond to it to wake up, which means needing something wired in addition to the wireless mouse. Plus, I desperately miss the functionality of the additional buttons the mighty mouse had. The options in system preferences are very limited for adjusting the functions of this mouse. And, in terms of ergonomics, well, it has none. It's really not comfortable to use for a long time. Overall, I'm ready to throw this mouse out the window and get a cheap one with buttons and a normal scroll wheel.

    Not what I expected

I expected the best but have found this mouse to be heavy (awkward in trying to move quickly for games) with a very short battery life. It had a very slow resolution (had to pick up the mouse a couple of times to move across a page until I found a program that made it more responsive). Now that's better but miss my light, fast Microsoft optical mouse that I had before switching to Mac. Will try to find something better. Have had my IMac for just over a month and the batteries on my mouse already need replacing. That's too short for a moderate user.

getting it to work is a magic trick

This mouse sounded like a good idea (I love the mutitouch pad on my MBP 13 inch). When using this mouse, the cursor skips all over the screen, even after buying a new mousepad. After 1 week of owning it, it has also started to literally come apart at the seams. Went back to my cheap $30 Logitech notebook mouse after I was close to throwing the magic mouse up against a wall. Cheap mouse works ten times better.

    Does not work

The mouse was great starting off, but as time went on I lost my connection. It won't even connect to my imac anymore, so I can't even use it! I had to switch to a microsoft mouse that I had. I only had the mouse and the computer for little over a week, so I am disappointed in the operation of the mouse. Do not buy this mouse

Beyond the sleek appearance...Magic Mouse is aggravation

Magic Mouse has great looks and is very trick and fun to play with. Initially, it is most impressive! You must decide though...do you want sleek and fun...or do you want a mouse that can be productive? I have had the Magic Mouse for 6 months and I want to throw it against a wall several times everyday! Ergonomically, the shape is unnatural and wrong...the hand does not rest on this mouse the way it does on nearly every other mouse ever made. Because of its shape, Magic Mouse tends to get sideways in the hand...at which point, what you think is a left click is a right click and what you think is a swipe is a scroll, etc, etc. In no way does form does not follow function with Magic Mouse. I am sure you've already read how Magic Mouse eats batteries and how, in some applications, scrolling/zooming is absolutely BERSERK...true and true. Has Apple ever made a really decent, reliable mouse? Logitech does!

Looks great, functions well, but disappoints

Wanted to love this mouse but it's really hard to. It looks great. I'm not adverse to the ergonomics of it, but the more I use it the more disappointing it becomes. The problem lies with the two black rails. Firstly they are magnets for dirt / dust which translates into an grinding noise and feel when using it. Biggest problem though is the rails are actually discoloring my desk and leave a black coloration on my hand. Kind of like graphite from a pencil. It's so bad I've reverted back to mighty mouse. Very disappointing.

    Magic Mouse - Bad Tracking

    • Written by from Brier

10 of 13 people found this useful

Overall tracking is bad. Mouse tracks poorly on many surfaces with both the universal access tracking speed and the mouse tracking speed both set to the fastest levels. It is noise too as the tracks on the bottom of the mouse scrape across whatever surface it is on. I will be returning it tomorrow.

    Don't even bother buying!

I should of listened to the majority of reviews on here and steered away from purchasing this mouse, but I didn't. The next day I took it back to Best Buy. Talk about uncomfortable, way to slim, it really hurts the wrist to use. The material they used for the thing to slide is absolutely awful! ! It doesn't want to move and if you put it on a table, it WILL scratch it! Forget about a mouse pad, doesn't work well at all.The concept is great, but that's about all that's great about this mouse. If you buy as I did, Good Luck! Allocate alittle money for the gas your going to use to take it back. I love Apple, but they really failed big on this one.

This mouse should be a recall for everyone that purchased it!
    Batteries last about 5-6 days
Constantly loses bluetooth connection sometimes like
    today probably 8 times.

    Soon! Taking out to trash

AWFULL PRODUCT!! would give it zero stars if that was possible....

My trusty old mouse won't work with Lion (don't get me started on what I think about Lion or icloud!!) and now I have arthritis in my thumb from this stupid thing. There is no support for the entire hand -- and I have really small hands. I agree with a reviewer that I read online: Apple products are now no better than PC so why am I spending the extra $$$? I plan to make a slow switch over time. It's just not worth it any more.

    An ergonomic DISASTER

    • Written by from New Orleans

I love this mouse. The multi-touch scrolling is awesome... but I hate this mouse! It's too flat and puts the hand in an uncomfortable position. I experience wrist pain when using for several hours. Unfortunately, there is nothing else on the market that fills the void, so I've been using my old USB mighty mouse lately, only because it is a more comfortable shape. Another thing with regards to ergonomics; why can't there be a wired version? Pushing around batteries all day long puts unnecessary strain on the wrist; a battery free mouse is so much lighter.

    Lost connections

I keep losing connectivity with the magic mouse. It seems to be a battery problem in that changing the batteries always restores the connection. However, this seems to be happening more frequently--every month now (I've had the computer and the mouse for a year). I've decided to give up and buy a conventional mouse.

Looks nice but don't use it at work

    • Written by from Hornsby

Sadly, this mouse is triumph of form over function. Looks great, but is such a piece of junk, at least in an office environment where other Bluetooth devices may be operating nearby.

I had to replace the batteries every 4-5 weeks, even when I switched it off before going home at night.

Even on nearly new batteries, several times a day it would lose the Bluetooth connection to the iMac just a foot away. (The stock iMac keyboard is nearly as bad as the mouse in this respect.)

If Apple made a wired version I would consider it, but wireless is a waste of money.

    Ugh

This mouse loses its connection to the computer in the middle of any task. It happens every day, usually several times, and requires a reboot to reestablish the connection. It often loses the connection after a period of "sleep" and again, requires a reboot. MOST ANNOYING !! Don't throw your wired mouse away!!!

    Awful

This mouse is uncomfortable in the hand and causes involuntary navigation back and forward - a lot. If your surface has bumps it will switch off the mouse while moving and it takes quite a while to reconnect. I would have been better off with a $10 mouse.

    the sliders disintegrate

This mouse is fair, except the sliders disintegrate over time and with use. The metal piece that covers the batters now slides on the desk from time to time.

This mouse is horrible. Doesn't even touch your hand, can't move fast and HORRIBLE for any game that requires quick precise movements. Would not recommend to anyone.

I have this mouse and it worked ok for a few months. But now even after I change the batteries for a new pair it still won't connect sometimes. I hate having to restart my computer because of this stupid blue tooth mouse! And changing batteries in your mouse all the time is stupid. For now I'm using a cheapy corded mouse, and it's so far more reliable, although not touch sensitive.

I'll take an ugly one that works over a pretty one that doesn't.

If you live near and Apple store it might be worth your while to give it a test drive. I was seriously considering this mouse so I went to my local Apple dealer and spent 30 minutes with the mouse. That was enough to convince me I didn't want it. I may be beautiful to look at, but ergonomically it is not comfortable to use. In particular I couldn't get used to the sharp edges. I have an Iogear bluetooth mouse that works just as well and is much more comfortable.

My guess is that Apple will eventually come out with a redesign. I'll wait till they do.

    Too Sensitive for Indesign

I got so frustrated using this mouse with Indesign that I ended-up throwing it on the floor and plugging in my previous mouse. This "Magic Mouse" may be good for web browsing, but not for page layout and design work.
