    Don't waste your money!

    • Written by from Durham

I am so frustrated with this mouse! I can't believe I paid so much money for this and now I have to go back to using my old, cheap Logitech mouse, which has stood me well for over four years now. As a grad student, I am constantly writing papers, and as a geek I play Minecraft in my (very little) free time. This brand new mouse is constantly disconnecting itself from my brand new Mac for no apparent reason! What is the point of a mouse that you can't use fifty percent of the time?? I liked the scroll function at first, until I found that, like other reviews said, you have to be super careful because it's so sensitive sometimes that it will flip you back and forth horizontally between pages. I can't even use this mouse to play Minecraft because you can't leave your hand sitting on the mouse or it will respond to the tiniest pressure and start going crazy, scrolling the screens around. And to make matters worse, when it's not being super-sensitive, it is just the opposite: sluggish, jerky, and non-responsive! I have to move the whole mouse and my hand a solid eight inches to get the pointer to move across the screen. I have tried for three months now with this mouse and I'm finally giving up and throwing it out. What a waste of money.

    Still awesome after 5 years

Bought the first magic mouse when it first came out, for an older macbook. Now using it on a new Retina MacBook Pro. it works fantastically. I use most of the scrolling gestures on the back of the mouse every day. These make it the most innovative mouse design you'll ever find. I also use the right and left click.

    Highly recommended.

    I absolutely love this mouse.

    • Written by from Portland

I love my Magic Mouse. I love the swiping capabilities. I wasn't even sure I'd use gestures when I ordered it, but I find myself just doing them now. It brings my Mac a bit closer in functionality to my iPad. I wasn't sure I would use my new Mac as much as my iPad. I thought I'd just use it for photo/video editing and as a media server. I find I enjoy using it much more then the pc it replaced. The Magic Mouse is a big part of that. It just makes using my Mac easy.

There was an itty bitty learning curve to using this mouse, for me at least. But it was fast. I was a bit frustrated when first trying to use it, but I immediately started getting it. Then it became completely natural.

Super Annoying Mouse that repeatedly disconnects

    • Written by from South Orange

I have used this mouse for some time and have not had time to figure out what it wrong with it, but after reading other reviews, now know that it is the mouse. Please Apple do something about this. This little mouse is way too costly to disconnect like this.

    Works as advertised, but..

    • Written by from Chula Vista

The mouse works as advertised. The multi-touch gestures are great on a mouse. The problem is the actual size and shape of the mouse. My previous wireless mouse was raised to fit perfectly in the palm of your hand as you hold the mouse. The Apple Magic Mouse is very low and can start to feel uncomfortable after a while because of its almost-flat design. Yes it looks innovative and futuristic, but I suggest you check it out at the store to see if the size is right for you.

    horrible mouse

    • Written by from SAN DIEGO

I was having troubles with my old scrolling apple wireless mouse, so I thought I should buy the new mouse. Man was I wrong. It's horrible. It disconnects 20 times a day and that's being generous, it might be more. I change batteries constantly thinking that might fix it, but no it does not. The worse part is that I threw away the old bad scrolling apple mouse. Really sad about this.

if you love apple and its products then you'll love this! It has great design and that just looks greats and feels great. The gesture that you can do on it is just incredible. I didn't need the mouse for my macbook pro with retina display but i thought it just was something great to own.

    Looks good, actually bad

Have to replace batteries less than two weeks. I'm using Duracell, suppose be good batteries.

Really difficult to control when you scroll up and down in a large file in code editor, say Intellij IDEA.

why can't I choose when to scroll?

    • Written by from SAN FRANCISCO

Awful mouse. I would prefer to go back to a hard-wire mouse. I work in InDesign for hours every day, and this mouse is always scrolling from left to right (or right to left) when I'm not even asking it to... Over the years, I have developed a fast and efficient working style in my layout program which has my right hand on the mouse constantly, while occasionally using both hands for keyboard commands. But now, with this mouse, I'm constantly having to re-position my view to the center of the page layout (command zero). And the worst thing is, apparently we can't turn OFF this scrolling feature. Why not? Why does apple think it knows what I want to do? I want to do the scrolling on my own. Yes, it's nice when navigating web pages, but overall, this device is way too sensitive!

I've tried editing all the different mouse preferences, but if there is something I am missing, please let me know.

    very non-responsive

    • Written by from LITTLETON

even when preferences shows that the battery is 100% it is still non responsive. it works, but in a very jerky, non-responsive way (the kind of performance you'd expect with a dying battery, not 100%)

    Best Mouse Ever

    • Written by from Corona De Tucson

I just got my mouse today and it is completely worth the price I love it. It's smooth, accurate, sleek, easy to use. I would never use any other mouse again. Apple never ceases to amaze me, you have done it again.

no physical click on right click, poor on/off switch

    • Written by from Los altos

I have 3 Magic Mice - and each one of them has faults!!
One of them, after 1-2 years, stopped clicking when pressing in the right top area - so it's very inconvenient, you have to really press hard and can't feel when it really works. Because of this, I just order new mouse, same model - and to my complete surprise - the new mouse had THE SAME problem right out of the box!! (still didn't get time to bring it back to Apple Store)
The 3rd mouse, the oldest one, started having problems with on/off switch in few months after it was purchased. So I had to install some small plastic piece to always keep it in ON position...

Very strange to see this kind of quality from Apple... :(

    almost great

    • Written by from Brooklyn

very well designed as many others pointed out, however, there is one enormous glitch: when not using standard apple applications there is a confusion between smart scrolling and zooming. I use Vectorworks which is pretty popular cad software and I notices people using Adobe have the same issues: the scrolling/zooming cannot be controlled and, the worst, it cannot be turned off. So just a slight touch can put your somewhere out of focus and since it is so sensitive it just gets in the way of productivity. I am a small business owner, I got all my employees the smart mouse and after one week they all asked for it to be replaced. So much for that mice.

Conected - Conexion Lost - Conected - Conexion Lost.....all the time, even with new batteries. I had to add a substitute wired mouse ready to use it every time magic mouse lost conexion. Very disappointed.

Won't work well with Thunderblot/Apple Screen

    • Written by from Notre-Dame-de-l'Ile-Perrot

Nice design, very useful, especially on the road, but it won't work well if you're working on a laptop hooked to a thunderbolt/Apple screen. The pointer will be very sluggish at times, to the point of you getting so frustrated that you'll want to throw this thing out the window, regardless of how much it cost.
