    Mostly good, but s l o w tracking

I purchased the new 27" iMac and looked forward to using the Magic Mouse. Here's what I've found after one week of use. It looks great and the Bluetooth connectivity is flawless. As far as the "driving" experience goes, I'd say it's fairly easy to get used to the multi-touch functions and the overall feel. But, the slow tracking is driving me nuts. To navigate a 27" screen, you constantly have to pick up the mouse and reposition (unless, of course, you have about a 2 foot-square space in which to move the mouse). And yes, I have tracking at the fastest setting in preferences. I find it very tiring and annoying to use. On the 21.5" version, it might be fine, but IMHO it's not the best option for the 27" iMac. Hopefully, Apple will address this with an update. I've found a number of other reviews that express this same sentiment. In the meantime, it's back to the old MS 7000 mouse.

    Cool features, NOT ERGONOMIC

At first this mouse is great because of the gestures. However you immediately recognize how non ergonomic this mouse really is. After extended use your hand and wrist will start to experience pain. My definition of extended is anything over 30 minutes to an hour. I've never experienced this pain from any other input device I've ever used on any system. Be warned!

    Form Over Function

This mouse is great for casual use. It's responsive and has a very large touch-surface, which makes it fantastic for word processing and web browsing. The battery life is also excellent; I can last for a few months with one set of batteries.

However, it's very unreliable and uncomfortable for prolonged use. It's small and not ergonomic, so one needs to hold it in a claw grip for best control. Accidentally brushing the surface often registers as a scroll, which is irritating. It also *very* frequently confuses right click with left click. The bluetooth connection is also intermittent and occasionally hiccups. This last point is a personal quibble, but the mouse feels too weighty and hard to drag given its size and responsive touch surface.

It's a great stylish mouse, but offers very little control, precision, or comfort. This means it's good for infrequent or casual use (no gaming, professional creative apps, etc), but if using it this way, why spend this much on a mouse? Unless you love the look and feel, I'd skip this one.

Apple Magic Mouse A CONSTANT BATTLE

I have always enjoyed my apple products, but the Apple Magic Mouse is by far the biggest let down. No actually it's complete frustration. As a professional web and graphic designer, the fact that the mouse jumps and scrolls as if there were a ghost in the machine makes this by far the worst mouse I have ever owned. APPLE please fix this mouse. I would not recommend this mouse to anyone!

    To small!

The mouse functions are just great, but it's too small for my hand. I'm a man 186 cm/6,1 foot tall, with what I guess is normal big hands for my height.

I have to pinch my hand to hold the small thing, and pressing the thumb and the little finger together like only makes my hand hurt, and moving back to the good old Logitech mouse is a real relief.

This is a mouse sized for women and kids, not for men. I wonder how many Apple employees who either use a Logitech, or choose to suffer with their undersized apple-mouse.

This is the worst mouse yet. I love everything about Apple products except the mouse. I have been using a PC mouse for the last 4 years I have had my Mac...the Mac mouse sits in a box. I thought they had finally gotten it right, but I was wrong! This "mouse" is slow and unresponsive as they have always been!

Tracking Speed slow and no expose access

    • Written by from LANCASTER

So far I generally like the mouse. However, the tracking speed is not fast enough even when set to the highest level. Also, there is no button or functional way to activate expose with the mouse. This is a major issue for me as I used this function very frequently with my previous mouse. I'll try it for a few more days, but I'm already missing my old mouse.

I love how smooth and good it feels in my hand. How sensitive it is and works on many surfaces. The scrolling is probably the best part. It's like scrolling on the trackpad, with the precision and ease of using a mouse.

    Love This Mouse

I labored long over the decision to choose this mouse, but after having used it for about two months now, I am thrilled to have made the choice. Like most Apple products, it utilizes newest technologies to create an awesome user experience. I use my mouse for a variety of chores, but most critical is drawing and detail oriented design work in Adobe CS products. This mouse’s technology actually reduces extra clicks and key commands, and makes working with it more productive. I have not found it to track too fast or jerkily, or had difficulty controlling the cursor. In my opinion, this mouse’s touch movements are smooth and efficient. The added plus is its wireless nature – not having an extra cord to hinder its movement, or clutter my desk is simply smart design. I love it ~ thank you Apple!

Looks great. Really uncomfortable to use.

Let me get one thing out of the way, this is THE MOST BEAUTIFUL MOUSE I have even put my hands on. Period. The two-finger swipe, flick to scroll, touch-sensitive surface are all magical, and works as advertised.

    But . . .

After a week of using this mouse, my wrist really started to cramp up, and that's partly to the really low-profile. It has gotten really uncomfortable to use. I have small hands (about 7 inches from the wrist to the tip of my middle finger), so if youre hands are big, forget about it. I found myself resting my hand more on my desk than on the surface of the mouse.

Apple released the hockey-puck mouse back in 1998, and 11 years later, I thought they finally got it right with the Magic Mouse. Boy was I wrong. I'm a huge fan of everything Apple, but sometimes, they favor form over function. I sold my Logitech MX Revolution the day I got the Magic Mouse, but I have no choice but to buy another MX.

    Please Re-design the Magic Mouse

    • Written by from Montreal

After several months of Magic Mouse use, I sum it up as follows:

    - It eats through a pair of AA's every month
    - It's not as ergonomic to hold as my 13 year old Intellimouse Explorer
    - The laser doesn't work well on my veneered table and causes the cursor not to respond sometimes when I move the mouse -- my Intellimouse on the other hand works flawlessly.

I wanted to like this mouse as it compliments my Apple setup but it got bested by a mouse designed 10 years earlier.

    good but some flaws

I love my magic mouse and use it every day, I actually probably have one of the first once so not to sure if they changed the design a bit. One issue I have is with the on and off button as if you are on rough surface or if there is something in the way the muse can be turned off while moving it, especially as the black rubbers ar worn out a bit also it will dirty your table a lot with the black residue from the black rubbers underneath it

    WORST APPLE PRODUCT EVER.

I usually don't write reviews unless I'm really ticked off. And I'm ticked off.

This mouse is horrible. It's so unreliable and is constantly disconnecting. It's slow, then it's too fast. I love the idea of a wireless mouse, but Apple needs to fine tune this product.

Good mouse, too sensitive, batteries fall out too easily

    • Written by from Durham

As a mouse it works fine. I like the gestures. I find it's too sensitive and I have a lot of accidental "swipes", especially in Illustrator and Excel. I also find that the batteries dislodge too easily inside, so if I pick up the mouse and set it down (like when moving from one extreme of the desktop to another or t my second monitor), they lose connection. This causes the mouse to power off and power on again. I get a lot of disconnections. It was free with the iMac, but I would be upset if I paid $70 for it.

Don't even think about using this mouse for any sort of film or sound editing in programs like Final Cut or Pro Tools. I've run into several problems with using it in Pro Tools and have reverted back to a usb mouse. I do however like using it with internet browsers as it is easy to scroll on webpages.

    The Best

This is one of the best purchases you can ever make on a mouse. Looks great, works great, and feels great to use. Bluetooth works outstandingly and the overall mouse performance for tasks such as precise editing is unbelievable. It is very durable as well. I have dropped it many times on accident and nothing at all happens to it. It looks very well with either wireless or wired Apple keyboards. Multitouch features are great on it, and there is so much to adjust to your liking in the system preferences on your mac. Great product!!
