    horrible mouse

    • Written by from SAN DIEGO

I was having troubles with my old scrolling apple wireless mouse, so I thought I should buy the new mouse. Man was I wrong. It's horrible. It disconnects 20 times a day and that's being generous, it might be more. I change batteries constantly thinking that might fix it, but no it does not. The worse part is that I threw away the old bad scrolling apple mouse. Really sad about this.

    Looks good, actually bad

    • Written by from Fremont

Have to replace batteries less than two weeks. I'm using Duracell, suppose be good batteries.

Really difficult to control when you scroll up and down in a large file in code editor, say Intellij IDEA.

    very non-responsive

    • Written by from LITTLETON

even when preferences shows that the battery is 100% it is still non responsive. it works, but in a very jerky, non-responsive way (the kind of performance you'd expect with a dying battery, not 100%)

no physical click on right click, poor on/off switch

    • Written by from Los altos

I have 3 Magic Mice - and each one of them has faults!!
One of them, after 1-2 years, stopped clicking when pressing in the right top area - so it's very inconvenient, you have to really press hard and can't feel when it really works. Because of this, I just order new mouse, same model - and to my complete surprise - the new mouse had THE SAME problem right out of the box!! (still didn't get time to bring it back to Apple Store)
The 3rd mouse, the oldest one, started having problems with on/off switch in few months after it was purchased. So I had to install some small plastic piece to always keep it in ON position...

Very strange to see this kind of quality from Apple... :(

    Avoid

    • Written by from London

This is a dreadful piece of kit. It looks great, but barely functions as a mouse. Sometimes the cursor jumps about all over the place, and the tracking, although clever, is awkward and over complex for the task- what's wrong with standard microswitched buttons? Apple stuff can be great, but avoid this one and save your money.

    Looks pretty, works ugly.

    • Written by from Pensacola

The absolute worst mouse I have ever owned. It looks really nice from a design point of view, but it basically is unusable in anything with precision needed. Avoid if you are a creative professional like my self. I do film and audio production and no way I could use this mouse for hours on end, day in and day out on small GUI interfaces that are the norm with those type of programs. I'll stick with Logitech for now.

    Works 1/2 of the Time

    • Written by from Lubbock

At home, it works - drops signal once an hour. When out in public (e.g. at a coffeehouse) it will not work at all. Poor product, and definitely not worth 70 dollars from bestbuy. Save your money and buy another mouse.

    Very Disappointed

    • Written by from Gorham

This is the first Apple product that I really, truly hate. I have been torturing myself using it for nearly a year. Two different operating systems...yes, I am on the latest...and having tried every adjustment suggested in Preferences, it still drives me crazy in both Adobe InDesign and Photoshop. It has cost me hours of frustration and wasted time and I am finally done with it. I will go back to a wired mouse or find a better wireless mouse. One star...it looks and feels great. Shame on you Apple for making such a poor product.

It would be amazing if it worked well.

    • Written by from Sherman Oaks

The idea behind this mouse is great, but the connection isn't good. The scroll feature isn't consistent. I can scroll with my finger over and over and over and the page won't move and then suddenly it's scrolled all the way down.
The pointer control is similarly inconsistent.
    DO NOT BUY!

Uni-Left-Right Mouse Button Design = EPIC FAIL

    • Written by from Toronto

If you want constant frustration, than get this mouse.

Otherwise get one that has separate left and right mouse buttons such as a Logitech or Microsoft.

This mouse may be called 'Magic' but it comes no where close to being magical in its design and function.

The uni-button design fails 99% of the time to distinguish between a left and right mouse click and often leaves me frustrated as it would perform a mouse action opposite to what I intended.

Not worth the price and you're better off getting 2-3 mice for the price of this Apple 'Magic' Mouse.

I finally ended up throwing it out and replacing the Apple Magic Mouse with a Logitech one that has separate Left and Right mouse buttons.

Do yourself a favor of not spending the money and experiencing the level of frustration by getting another branded mouse that has a better design and function (separate left-right mouse buttons).

    Finally given up

    • Written by from Wilmington

I've used the Magic Mouse since they first came out. 10 years?...I don't even know. I've gone through 4 just recently; battery dies in a heartbeat, and the battery house stinks so it keeps shutting off. After folding up bits of paper to tighten the batteries in there, and the Bluetooth constantly disconnecting, I've finally said 'forget it'. I WANT another one. I love the design, the ease-of-use, side scrolling, etc. etc. But $69 every 6+ months is plain silly, and apparently I'm just a glutton. The irony? I'm using a Microsoft mouse for my Mac, and it works beautifully, lasts forever, and cost <$20. Wake up, Apple.

    Bad in every significant way

    • Written by from Redmond

I have the Apple mouse, don't know the product number or SKU but it is wireless, no buttons or side scrollers or anything. Cost like 70 USD, if that's any clue.

The thing is lousy. EATS batteries like it's Shark Week, not for breakfast, merely as appetizer. Secondly, loses connection CONSTANTLY, like every few minutes I need to go into system preferences and try to re-connect, but lately i just give up and switch back to the trackpad (macbook pro). Thirdly, the battery cover is a total train wreck! Impossible to replace back on the unit once you've taken it off (which you need to do every day or two due to the pathetic battery life). It's this little tin plate that's like something made by some stoner kid needing to pass shop class in the final week with at least a C- average or he can't graduate. I mean, THIS is what we're all supposed to wonder and adore as the apogee of 21st century DESIGN and ERGNOMICS and cool efficiency, APPLE COMPUTER CORP?? Total joke.

(By the way, this review system is also crummy, when you submit it says "Some words in your review cannot be published. Please revise your review" But it doesn't say or highlight which words are verboten! I thought this company is the sine qua non of USER INTERFACE DESIGN! Good for a laugh. I do understand though - when you have 70 Billion cash reserves you don't need to worry about this kind of chickenfeed.)

    Keeps Dying

    • Written by from Port Coquitlam

I have to re-synch this mouse to my computer every few hours. Today, after less than a year, it will not stay in synch for more than a minute. This is the second one I've bought in 18 months. NOT IMPRESSED.

    • Written by from LIMA

The mouse is great if you have small hands and fingers but if you have larger hands and fingers like I do, its way too flat and small. Go back to the drawing board Apple or at least come up with a larger mouse. I give it a one-star for me.

I mean, even if it wasn't for the constant FAILURE this mouse would still FAIL. I mean, you're supposed to be the most cutting-edge company on the planet and I'm replacing AA batteries every two weeks? Apple is Radio Shack with a better graphic design team.

First bad Apple product I've owned.

    • Written by from Encino

I sought out this review section and I never write reviews. But I simply can NOT let this go. I've used this Beelzebub-designed product for over a year now and it has never stopped being anything but ATROCIOUS.

Let's just not waste your time and run through the complaints.

-Enjoy replacing the batteries at an insanely ridiculous rate, like faster than Data's Bullet Blinders from the Goonies.
-Enjoy constant "magical" shortcuts that you are not anticipating or want. Like sending an email you weren't done with.
-Enjoy the dock constantly moving to your second monitor at the drop of a hat.
-Enjoy trying to view videos and whoops your hand grazed your mouse now everything went to Diablo and your quicktime can't tell if you're saying fast forward or reverse.
-Enjoy "magically" swiping screens you were just on out of the blue which is really fun during live broadcasts.

This thing is an overly-sensitive battery-sucking piece of garbage and you might as well need to know sign language to master everything. If you have big hands like me you're basically sentenced to an eternity of unintentional shortcuts. I work for a company that gives me no choice but to deal with this demon spawn and I absolutely gnash my teeth every day.

Save yourselves. It's too late for me.
