    one tough little mouse

after spilling water on my desk, i decided to shake the water out of my mouse by holding it and swinging my arm like a propeller. you know, centrifugal force and everything, but about 3 revolutions in, the mouse slipped out of my hand and slammed into the concrete floor. it hit hard enough that the batteries & battery cover went flying across the room and the top and bottom portion of the mouse separated. i gathered up everything and snapped it back together and it still works great, besides a few scratches and small crack on the top it's as good as new.

The mouse is great, I find it much better than Logitech's or Microsoft's mouses. Battery life is great, but I always turn it off when the computer isn't being used. Still 100% life during one month of use so far.

It doesn't connect as quickly as the keyboard when you switch it on. Takes about 5 seconds, which feels longer than it sounds.

I feel it should be able to recharge through the same means as an iPod. Using AA's is so yesterday.

I still recommend it, mouses aren't usually fun to own.

    Mouse from the Future

I have to say that the mouse is gorgeous first of all. The scrolling is excellent i have tried it on plastic, cardboard, upholstry and laminate wood no problems with moving the cursor, had some sync issues because I would manually disconnect the mouse but that was resolved by letting it auto shut off when I shutdown my Mac. The gestures all work well and with Lion new gestures added and it works even more seamlessly lets but it this way if my keyboard was a child I would be charged with neglect. I have had mine for about 3 mouths and have had to change the batteries 4 times but I have rechargeable batteries so thats not a big deal. As far as ergonomics go I say it is all about how you prefer to hold it personally holding a "regular" mouse feels like holding a pear compared to this I particularly like the ambidexterity since I tend to eat and surf. All in all still the best and only true touch mouse.

The Apple Magic Mouse is absolutely amazing. It has a great design, works amazing, and as a whole is definitely the best mouses (mice?) I have ever owned. My favorite features of this mouse are: !) It can function as a 2-button mouse even though it doesn't appear to be so 2) it is touch-sensitive like the iPod Touch, so to scroll through pages you simply have to slide your finger on the surface of the mouse 3) the battery life is simply amazing -- I have kept it on for about 1 month straight and the battery life is only down to 94% charged.

    Surprisingly Amazing Mouse

Due to my distain for the mighty mouse, I was nervous to buy this mouse because it just seemed like a wireless version-but I'm glad I was wrong. This mouse is the collect mouse I've ever used. Besides looking cool, it performs flawlessly. It has all the multi-touch gestures like a trackpad, but slightly modified. For instance, you can scroll up and down with two fingers, but you can also do it with one finger for a more natural feel. Setup was also super-easy, less than 7 seconds. Pleased with this mouse very much, worth the $$.

What I love the most about this mouse is the way it looks, and that it's wireless thus no more messy wires in my desk. Despite its great looks and being wireless, it still does its job as a mouse perfectly. also, the battery life is amazing. I don't understand what people in other reviews are saying that their battery lasts for a few days. I believe you'll hardly have to charge your batteries, because based from my experience, the battery usage is minimal (I've had this mouse and started using it on the 6th of July, with an average usage of 8 hours per day, and the battery level is still at 100%, are you kidding me?!) The only problem I find with this mouse is that you'll have to raise your index finger when you're performing a right click (if you don't, it will recognize the click as a left click) it's a minor thing, and you'll get used to it. Besides that, the mouse is perfect! I never regret buying this mouse.

I just downloaded Lion. With the addition of many more Multi-Touch gestures, the already-incredible Magic Mouse became unbelievable. If I hadn't already been a totally committed Apple user/lover, this combination (along with the Wireless Keyboard) have completely cemented my commitment to Apple Inc. Excellent work, Cupertino!

Of the many mice I've used , USB and wireless, this is the best. After the software update it has worked perfectly for the past year. Vertically, horizontally, on all surfaces, it is quiet and responsive.

I was going to sell this mouse as I didn't think it was as good as my Logitech. I read in one of the reviews to download Magic Preferences, which I did. I changed the mouse settings to very fast and now this mouse is lightening fast. It is so easy to scroll. And scrolling from side to side needs to be done in a side to side box, where there is a scroll bar on the bottom. There is nothing wrong with this mouse. You just need to practice with it. If you hold the control key, you can zoom in and out and all around. Just practice with it. I love mine and I'm a keepin it now!

The Best Mouse I Have Ever Used.

Of all the computer mice I have ever used, Apple's Magic Mouse is the best. Not so much for its form but rather for its function. The utility of its design is un-ignorable. The multi-touch surface brings vast new functions never seen in a mouse. Simply sliding a finger down the mouse is the perfect on-mouse scrolling functionality, as it eliminates all moving parts. In fact, the only apparent moving part in the whole device is the mouse itself. Downloading third-party software enables even more features such as taps and multi-finger clicks, allowing one to access the dock, engage exposé, view spaces, rotate pictures, zoom, and more without ever lifting a hand from the mouse.

Some people take a while to grow accustomed to the mouse's unique shape as you really do have to hold it differently than most mice; while others, like me, only took about an hour to get used to it. I find the best way to hold it is with my thumb on one side, my index and middle fingers on the top, and my ring and pinkie fingers on the side opposite my thumb. This leaves my index and middle fingers to hover over the mouse while I can use my remaining digits to adjust and move the mouse appropriately for whatever I'm trying to accomplish.

I'd recommend this mouse to most people. I suppose most video gamers, particularly first-person video gamers, would benefit from the tactile response of buttons; but everyone else is game. Even if you are having trouble using the mouse, I recommend you sticking with it and really trying to figure it out as it would be a loss to sacrifice such utility. I've seen too many poorly technologically inclined people get used to this mouse (my grandmother included) for me to believe there are many people who can't use this mouse after giving it a proper chance. I'd say try Magic Mouse for a month and a half, and if you're still not happy, then maybe it really is just not for you.

I have wait so long to actually buy this Mouse. I had an older Microsoft mouse with the Blue Laser and it worked really well. So I never had a need to replace it. Until yesterday when my Fiancee stole it from me and decided she isn't going to give it back. So I went to the store and bought this little beauty and it is 100% worth EVERY SINGLE PENNY. I can't wait to see what all I can program this little power house mouse to do. It's really the best mouse on the market. Eat that Microsoft, you pathetic morons.

I previously owned the Might Mouse and it was problematic as the scroll wheel was constantly stickling. The Magic Mouse on the other hand has been trouble free for over a year. I love the feel of this mouse and the fact that with a swipe of 2 fingers you can go back or forward. And with one finger you can scroll easily. It is very precise after you set it up to your liking. The right and left click work perfectly. I have found not one negative about this mouse. It is different and it will take time to get accustomed to the feel and how it works, but once you use this mouse for a few days I cannot see anyone going back to a bulky mouse with a scroll wheel. This is just one slick piece of hardware that I will never be without.

I love this mouse very much. Its slick, its got smooth gestures, and looks great. But its not good for gaming for the simple reason that it doesn't have a very good right click.
    Dear Apple,

Please make a slick white mouse (like the magic mouse) with two separate buttons being the right and left click. you would be doing many people a huge favor. Thanks

The ability to use gestures to do SO many things is why I love this mouse. It's so customizable. Sure, it takes a little getting used to if you're coming from a Mighty Mouse or something even earlier, but so does switching from a Honda Civic to an S2000! So please give it a chance. I also strongly recommend downloading Better Touch Tool, a free program that allows you to highly customize what you do with it. I set it up to control Exposé, since I used to use it on the Mighty Mouse using the side buttons. LOVE!

I'll admit it, it took me some time to actually get used to it as a full-time mouse, but now? Well now, all the others mouses feel bad. I have logitech, Microsoft and Razer mouses at home and all of them are not able to deliver the experience the magic mouse does (especially now on Lion - been testing it).

For me it feels precise, solid, serious and I even feel it helps me while working in photoshop and other graphic editing programs. And swiping back or zooming in on safari 5.1 on lion...just sweet.

It's definitely my mouse of choice now and the only times I put it aside is to connect my Razer for some gaming sessions.
