I initially bought the mouse when I had a college dorm, and I loved it. It looked great on my desk, and functioned wonderfully. I had only one problem with it. I got Half-Life 2 for my 13" Macbook Pro, and while using the mouse was a lot easier than the touchpad, it seemed to have hypersensitive scrolling, which changes weapons in Half-Life and produces an annoying buzz due to the weapons changing so fast. Even with the scrolling sensitivity all the way down, with a slight slide, it would scroll a few pages worth of normal scrolling.

Then I transfered to a different college, and moved into an apartment. My table (my stand in desk for now) has a glass top, so the mouse doesn't work on it. I didn't really expect an optical mouse to work on a clear surface, but I thought this thing was "Magic".

Other than those two minor issues, it really is a great mouse. I would recommend buying it. The price is a little steep, but you get what you pay for. Every gesture seems natural, its very sturdy, and it should last a long time. My only question I have about it still is... "Will it blend?"

Excellent mouse, so smooth, no moving scroll parts that get clogged with dirt, but prepare to invest in MANY AA batteries. This thing eats through batteries like there is no tomorrow. If they made one with a cord, it would be the best mouse ever.

It came with my new iMac. I love the way it scrolls. I have smallish hands, so it's a nice fit. Some don't like the way it drags a bit on a mouse pad, I find it to be more precise (for graphics) because of it. However! It looses connection way too frequently, and not due to battery life. And it is so sensitive to touch that it tries to change pages (laterally) when I am not trying to. I suppose that I will get used to the movement issue. But the disconnect is irritating. Each time I have to power off from the bcd of the computer to reconnect. Oddly, the keyboard (which is also wireless) doesn't have that problem.

I've had this Magic Mouse for about 8 months and I love it. It works seamlessly on my MacBook Pro 2011 but not so smooth when I use it on WIndows 7 Professional bootcamp. You'll have to set it up to be able to use on Windows. I have no major complaints. Prior to buying it, I read a lot of comments on the battery life. I don't think those comments were worth it. I've been using the same batteries since I bought this mouse. Granted, I don't use it every second of every day. But if you are just a regular laptop user who only uses your laptop mainly at home when you're away from your office computer, then you shouldn't have an issue with battery. I switch the mouse off when not in use. I also got the rechargeable batteries but I'm yet to use those. At this time, my mouse is running on about 50% battery power and it's working fine. I'll give 4-stars because it doesn't work as smooth on Windows!

Apple's first true mouse, I used the Apple hockey puck mouse in high school and never really liked the mighty mouse. Since then I've only bought high-end Logitech mice like the VX Nano, Revolution, MX 1000 and MX 1100 etc. I've stuck to Logitech for a few reasons, battery life, quality, Nano USB recievers, ergonomic feel and design, all of which are superior to the competition. However, with that being said, the Apple magic mouse will be the first mouse i will buy not with the Logitech brand. It has great feel and everything feels so very natural. It has some weight to it which is actually beneficial to the finger gestures on the mouse. Although you may consider this mouse pricey, I will not comment and will not rate it based on price only overall quality, the reason being is that I believe I people's price preference changes the overall rating of the product too drastically.
Now the quirks...the back and forward gestures are very hard to do depending on the surface of your table or where your at. Instead i wish they added some sort of side buttons (yea right!).
On a further note; we have the mighty mouse hooked up to the new 27" iMac in-store demo (not apple store) and the mouse was working over 50 feet away through 5 bookshelves and wifi signal and several metal stands.

I've been using my Magic Mouse for several months now after an unfortunate tumble killed off my wireless Mighty Mouse. It fits well in my hand and the Multi-Touch functionality makes it hard to beat. The Multi-Touch interface is a bit too sensitive to use for serious gaming so I keep a wired USB mouse handy.

The only real issues I have with the Magic Mouse have to do with the batteries. First, this thing uses batteries faster than anything I've ever seen. I usually only get about three weeks out of a pair of alkaline batteries, if I'm lucky. The last time around I switched to Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries and they lasted about two months. Second, likely owing to Steve Jobs' insistence that Apple products look good, even on the inside, the engineers created a nice-looking battery compartment. The negative terminals are spring-loaded buttons rather than just springs and the positive terminals are recessed. The problem is that they are so recessed that not every battery has positive terminals long enough to reach the contacts in the recessed space. I bought some Rayovac alkalines since I didn't have any spare lithiums and the grocery store didn't stock lithiums. The Rayovacs couldn't reach the positive terminals! I had to resort to balling up some small pieces of aluminum foil to fit in the recesses in order for contact to be made.

Lesson learned? Always keep a spare set of lithium batteries handy that I know will fit.

the design and function of this mouse is perfect. everything works as advertised. very sleek and elegant. however, $70? way too much for this mouse. even tho it's a fantastic mouse, it's not worth $70. just because things are overpriced, doesn't mean it's a bad product. would still highly recommend, but either cringe and spend the $70 or get one new or used on other sites for less.

Love this mouse, but am replacing batteries constantly. Would be the perfect mouse if they would fix the battery life problem.

I have been using the Magic Mouse for a little while now and it is a great mouse. I love the scroll ability and it has a great feel. My only criticism is the tracking speed is slow. The tracking speed is how far/fast it moves on the screen when you move the mouse. I have tracking set as high as possible, and I still have to frequently pick up the mouse and move it over to complete a move to the far side of the screen.

I also am running Windows 7 in VMWare Fusion, and the mouse works great. There is no side to side scrolling, but I am used to that even with my Logitech mouse. Up and down scrolling works great.

...not so comfortable. I use it when I work from home all day and my hand starts aching after just a couple of hours. It's so nice and streamlined, but I sure wish it was more ergonomic.

The only other negative is that the swipe can be a little too sensitive and does not allow adjustment. One wrong touch and your document goes scrolling waaaaaaay fast the wrong way. Nothing's perfect, I guess.

Otherwise, the mouse is brilliant - it is fast and responsive, and I only have to change the battery every couple of months.
