    NO STARS EVER!!

    • Written by from Dulwich Hill

This is the biggest piece of rubbish in the history of computing. This mouses loses its connection with my laptop, positioned no more than 10 cm away, literally every single time I attempt to use it; sometime multiple times. I spend more time switching it off and on again, and clicking and moving it randomly until the connection is restored than actually using it for its intended purpose. I have used more disposable batteries in this device alone than in all other battery operated devices in the remainder of my life, and even with Apple branded rechargeable batteries, which I stupidly also purchased, I am constantly switching them. This is the most frustrating device you will ever own!

    uncontrollably twitchy

    • Written by from Los Angeles

This is a terrible mouse. It is almost impossible to control. The surface is so sensitive that the cursor is constantly twitching whenever you move your finger near the surface. And then if you turn the sensitivity down, it doesn't move when you want it to. I am a video editor. I struggled with this mouse on and off for two years. I finally have given up. It looks pretty, but it works horribly.

Buggy and Jumpy. Useless waste of money

    • Written by from Nashville

Do not waste your money on this product. The bluetooth connection between this mouse and any computer is subject to easy interference resulting in jumpy and jerky movement and loss of control.
It is an issue apple is aware of but have done nothing about.

    Extremely slow tracking...

    • Written by from Depew

I bought it, used it for 6 hours and immediately returned it the next day. Pros: sleek design, multi touch surface rocks. Cons: The mouse has a really low profile, so I wouldn’t recommended for large hands. Lastly more importantly the tracking speed is extremely slow, even with the mouse tracking speed setting cranked to the max. I even downloaded Mouse Zoom application and had no satisfactory improvements… Unless apple fixes the tracking issue, don’t speed your hard earned cash on this one…

    Horrible Product

    • Written by from Denver

I love apple products, but this is the worst experience I have ever had. The battery life is horrible and it takes a very long time to register the mouse when you turn on/wake up the computer. I usually get a message that says a mouse has not been detected and then it will finally detect it. I do not advise buying this product. I am very disappointed that apple would make such a horrible product.

    Don't waste your money!!!

    • Written by from East Wenatchee

This mouse is horrible. It looks pretty, I'll give it that, but theres not much else to say for it.

The surface on the bottom of the mouse is horrible, makes a scraping noise on whatever surface you use the mouse on.

No dark field laser, so can't use it on a glass desk without a mousepad.

Ergonomically it is horrendous - will certainly cause carpal tunnel in no time.

You can't rest your hand on the mouse like you can with normal mice. If you do, you will get sporadic scrolling and zooming. This requires you to basically hold your whole arm up in the air to operate the mouse. Even resting a single finger on the mouse will cause random scrolling issues.

20% of the time the scrolling doesn't even respond for a few seconds.

Overall this mouse is plain unsafe to use, unless of course you like chronic pain in your arm for the rest of your life.

Buy a magic trackpad instead, they're great!

    S*#t Product

    • Written by from Richmond

The 'magic' mouse is S&#T! My iMac is almost two years old, and this weekend is the FOURTH time I will be going back to Apple to have it replaced. Lucky (if one could call it that) the first three were replaced free of charge by Apple here in Sydney. Keeps cutting off even with fresh batteries, very frustrating. Using my old corded mouse for now, helluva' lot better.

The Magic Mouse is Truly Magical!!!!

    • Written by from Copiague

The fact that it loses its blue tooth connection EVERY 10 seconds to maybe a minute, is magic. Just to get to this spot in the review took 20 minutes! I am disabled so to return it would have been a hassle. When I first got the not so magic mouse, I came here looking for answers and at one point thought I did find an answer. I followed the directions and it did work better…for one day. Now it has gotten so bad that I was forced to buy a different mouse, which I did and am waiting for the delivery. If I could have given a rating of no stars, I would have. So save your money and the aggravation and get yourself a different Mac compatible mouse! BTW, I know 2 people who threw theirs out!

    A crazy product

    • Written by

It drives me nuts. The whole page would disappear when I accidentally touched the mouse without knowing it. You don't a jet to take you to the next block. Nobody in our studio likes it. We all switched back to the $10 mouse with a scrolling wheel now.

    wireless intereference

    • Written by from EL CERRITO

We have an airport extreme base station, and I found that when using this bluetooth wireless mouse, the WIFI kept losing the signal. Like every couple of minutes. Even though I had it set to automatically join known networks, it kept just dropping the signal, then I had to go select our home network and tell it to join manually, truly a pain. It turns out that even Apple's support site mentions the possibility of signal interference between these products. Duh.
I went back to using a wired mouse, which solved the WIFI signal issue, but for some odd reason, Apple's wired mouse only comes with a 29 inch cord, which is barely long enough to go around the back and into the USB ports, which are on the left of the MacBook.

    Do NOT buy if:

    • Written by from Beirut

    1. You have SWEATY palms (hours of work will make ur hands slightly sweaty that u will hate to use the scroll feature!)

    2. Very sensitive, like ur skating bare foot on ice! (moves u to another page with the slightest accidental touch)

    3. Its bottom skates ONLY move on smooth SOLID surfaces. (i sometimes use my mouse on the couch..or anywhere i am sitting)

    4. Heavy!

    5. Painful for MS Office users.

    disappointing

    • Written by from Camberwell South

Looks good, feels good, works poorly. This mouse has not worked well for me at all. It's jerky and the cursor jumps all over the place. I'm a designer and makes using apps very difficult when doing really precise work with points/pixels. Actions like scrolling are intermittent. I think it has poor bluetooth connectivity. Also I often accidentally open widgets and can't swipe them away.
I'm using it with Lion on a 15" mid-2009 MacBook Pro. Never had issues like this on my previous gen macBook Pro with wireless Mighty Mouse.

Piece of art/crap... Beautiful/unusable design... with poor battery life.

    • Written by from Columbus

It simply beautiful thing to behold... Unfortunately its hard to hold.

Not only do you need to have a triple jointed circus freak hand to use the multi touch feature. But the thing is so slim that even the tiniest circus freak hands get sore. No scroll ball? Really? When I click, it sometimes thinks I'm scrolling instead. And you can forget about having the option to set it up for a middle click! There is only one 'gesture' I can think of for that feature bright idea!

It's obvious this was simply designed for aesthetics. And once your battery runs out, it will go back to doing just that. Being a lifeless sculpture. (I've only had my new 27" iMac since Christmas, two weeks ago, and its already at 60% battery life. 20% per week means it will be depleted in 5 weeks!) My logitech mouse is uglier than sin, but you know what? I have had the same batteries for a year and a half and I rarely remember to turn the thing off! And Apple prides itself on being green? Battery acid is good for the environment?

Maybe it's good for people that browse the internetz or check emails with their computer. But I'm a designer/developer and I don't find the thing that magical.

    uncomfortable

    • Written by from Covina

This thing is way overhyped. It is too small for my hand. Sometimes the swiping stops working. I went back to my larger more comfortable logitech wireless mouse. Also, the speed of the magic mouse is way too slow. I put it on high speed and it moves at half the speed I need. I have to pick up the magic mouse at least once and move it back across my mouse pad to go across the screen. The only plus is scrolling up and down works nicely. Other than that, I put it away for good.

    Enhancement needed

    • Written by from Sterling

Just got this mouse with the new iMac. I was very excited to use it, but immediately found that it is a step back--limited new gesture functionality, and the loss of the 3rd and forth mouse button will keep this guy shelved and collecting dust.

    MY ARM HURTS

    • Written by from Ann Arbor

As much as I'd like to say that I like this mouse because of the cool gestures, I really can't. 5 minutes with this mouse and I have wrist and forearm pain...this is the first time I've ever experienced anything of the sort in my 20some years of hardcore computer use. It is pretty clear to me that ergonomics didn't come into mind when designing this mouse. Fashion won over function apparently. I'm going to put this thing back in the box and buy myself a nice, comfy Logitech mouse. To go along with my Logitech solar powered keyboard. Apple, you need to work on your peripherals. Nobody wants wrist/arm pain, and nobody wants to change batteries. Period.

    A Very Unreliable Product

    • Written by from Cambridge

The Magic Mouse is great when it deigns to connect with the computer but most of the time it doesn't, even with batteries that it (eventually) rates at 100% when a connection has been established. If you buy one you will be frustrated by the fact that it continually disconnects or fails to establish a connection. There is no advice that I have read that resolves the problem. It has now become a very expensive artwork on my desk because it fulfils no other function. Save your money until Apple can make it work reliably.

    Horrible Reliability

    • Written by from San Francisco

When it works, it is magic. But mine rarely works. And this is the second one I've had. It just isn't reliable. It loses its connection constantly. And it will just turn itself off in the middle of an action.
