    Don't Buy

    • Written by from Covington

So far this has been the worst mouse I've ever owned. It absolutely refuses to continuously track. It will just quit leaving the cursor stuck on the screen. The same with the special features: they work one time and then not the next.

    Returned it!

To the point: Tracking way too slow. Awkward size and weight. Apple missed on this big time!

    Loved it, shelved it

    • Written by from Hillsborough

Really nice feel and action. But, without the middle button I can't work. Many X applications use the middle button as a paste. So bring up an X-term and editor and I'm working without the ability to cut and paste. Most two button mice use pressing both buttons to emulate the middle button.

Since I use my Mac to remotely connect to Linux and Unix servers in my daily work, there is no possible way to use this mouse. So it's only good as a paperweight now, which is why I gave it such a low rating.

    Bad tracking/accuracy

    • Written by from Oakland

I'm returning this mouse. The tracking speed is too slow (even at the highest setting). And the tracking accuracy is poor. I could not use it to work any applications that required any amount of precision (e.g. Adobe Illustrator).
(It seemed to work better before I installed the Mac OS X software update that included the driver for it. But, without the driver, the Multi-Touch features don't work.)

    WORST Mouse EVER

    • Written by from cary

First the only positive I see is that its very sleek looking, But looks are pointless if the product is unusable.
The mouse is the most uncomfortable piece of tech Ive ever used. It is painful on my large hands and it so slow it make playing games or doing any kind of quick work impossible. I got it with my new iMac and I threw it in a box and got a logitech that is much quicker and more precise. I love apple but this mouse is a dud

    Mouse won't behave

    • Written by from Scotts Valley

This mouse came with my new iMac that I bought 2 weeks ago. I'd tried wireless mice years ago and hated them because everything kept zipping around, so I went back to a wired mouse. Thinking I should get with the 21st Century and maybe technology has improved, I let my beloved wired mouse go with my old computer. Big mistake. I'm a writer/editor and I do lots of highlight-cut-paste. I'd try to highlight something and the mouse jerked to another part of the page. Or a different page. Or went whizzing up and down pages. I'd try to read an article on-line and the page kept jiggling up and down or it would open another page. I called AppleCare twice. First time the tech had me uncheck all the Mouse items in Systems Preferences and set the mouse to Slow. Still misbehaved.

On the 2nd call the tech said my Magic Mouse seems to be a "scroll mouse" that's going to scroll no matter what I want to do. Since I want to use it like a wired mouse, why not get one? "Does Apple still sell wired mice?" I almost wept with relief. "Yes," he assured me, "In any Apple store."

    So bye-bye wireless mouse.

    Horrible

This is just the worst wireless mouse ever. It disconnects just constantly and takes a while to reconnect. I do not recommend this mouse to anyone. Buy a different one

Doesn't work for serious graphic designers

    • Written by from Farmington

Have you tried using this mouse when you're in Illustrator? It's all over the place. I cannot use the Apple Magic Mouse for design and have switched for the trackpad. It took a little getting used to but I use it daily now and have never looked back. When I need to be even more precise I use a Wacom tablet. Apple just can't seem to make a good mouse...

    absolute junk

    • Written by from South Pasadena

This is the second apple magic mouse in one year, that has completely quit. I change the batteries and it simply does not go back on. Tried multiple batteries. I replaced the first one at the crazy price apple charges, and five months later, it just stops. One would assume that since it is one of the priciest mouses on the market the quality would be great. No so. I still love apple, but they are making it harder and harder to love them, over time. God, I miss Steve Jobs!

reliable connection from up to 33 feet away? Totally bogus

    • Written by from Portland

I recently purchased this mouse from Apple along with a new mini for my home theater setup thinking I would receive a "reliable connection from up to 33 feet away". My surfing sofa is 13 feet away with an unobstructed line-of-sight to the mini. Occasionally from 13 feet I actually do receive a normal mouse like experience, however 95% of the time it is what must be like surfing on quaaludes. You know, you move the cursor and 2 seconds later it moves, or a slight touch to scroll results in either light speed to the top or to the bottom of the page. I am typing this review from 7 feet away and it works flawlessly, but........APPLE, IT IS NOT FROM 33 FEET OR ANYTHING CLOSE TO THAT AND IT WORKS LIKE THE KIND OF STUFF I PICK UP AFTER MY DOG. I do not want to have to spend time and energy taking this back to the happy concerned faces at the local Mac store. That is not part of the grand bargain which is..... you tell the truth in your marketing and I buy your products, we both win and I do not find myself writing unpleasant reviews. Incidentally, this is the second of 2 wireless mice I have purchased from Apple. The first one with the little cute roller ball that gums up did not work either.

    Poor design, expensive to operate

    • Written by from Lake Jackson

I have a very hard time controlling the movement of the cursor with this mouse. There is no control for allowing it to respond to more subtle movements. My cursor jerks around the screen, whizzes to the end of long documents and catalogs of photos when my hand barely touches the device. Totally uncontrollable. And, yes, I have looked at all the possible settings. There are none that help.

Moreover, this mouse eats batteries. They last an unbelievably short time even when I turn it off between each session. My last set of Duracell alkaline "Ultra Power" batteries lasted less than 60 days. I feel certain that this mouse is either not functioning as it should or is just a poor design from the start. I hate to waste money at the Apple Store. I expect to get the best there. I did not in the case of this product.

    Logitech is far superior

    • Written by from Gloucester

Why? Because Logitech just works. Does not do odd things, or fail to do things I expect. For example, this mouse's Ctl+ scroll= zoom DOES NOT WORK in Safari, or on the desktop. Works on Firefox, but not on Safari. ironically, no Mouse settings give a clue as to why it does it. I could try googling forums, and defeats the purpose of getting an Apple product.

Double tap for Mission Control? Do so if you want to hit ENTER, as you cannot predict when it shall work versus just left or right click. As for other gestures, no matter how clean, sensitive or co-ordinated one is, one cannot predict what a gesture will achieve. In the end, to sum it up, is waste of time. Not as in a waste of time getting it, but literally, a waste of time by loosing time precious time with a mouse that takes you on unpredictable journeys. Reminds me of Vista and Microsoft products.

    This mouse is TOO sensitive!

    • Written by from New York

I have this mouse and I do NOT recommend it. It's constantly doing things I DON'T want it to do because it responds to EVERY move I make. I far prefer a mouse that responds only to discrete movements that I purposely choose.

    Loses connection, requires reboot

    • Written by from Montreal

The mouse usually loses the connection to the computer after an hour or so, and often won't reconnect until the computer is rebooted. The bluetooth keyboard works fine, so I don't think it's a general bluetooth issue or similar.

Keeps losing connection with the computer

    • Written by from Hollywood

This mouse is terrible. I have had to restart my computer several times because the mouse, all of the sudden, stops working and lose the connection. I have lost all my work several times because you can be stuck with no way to get it around your mac if you only owns this mouse. If you decide to buy it, make sure you have a wire mouse as a back up

    Magic but very limited.

    • Written by from Sunnyvale

Yes it is nice design and "Magical" with swipes and scrolling etc etc. But thats it. what else can you do. My 2 year old mouse has additional buttons for expose, scroll wheel and middle button press for more options.

Also, because the surface is touch sensitive I always have problem with accidental scrolling when you don't want to. Then you have to keep your fingers raised which makes your wrist to be in a awkward position.

I would not recommend this mouse. Looks nice but terrible.

    • Written by from Sedgewick

Product with a lot of potential, but not at all a value for the money. Very disappointing. Overly delicate product cannot take heavy use, multiple lost connections (stopped warning when the battery was becoming low and just dies unexpectedly). Not buying one again.
