    + and -

    • Written by from Denver

    The Good:

    - Weight feels great
    - Low profile is wonderful
    - Touch features are amazing
    - Smooth scrolling
    - Swipe gestures are great

    The Bad:
    - Only two buttons (left and right click) so no Exposé access
    - Takes some getting used to - constantly feeling for rollerball for finger placement guidance

I'm really hoping that either Apple or third-party software will add support for more gestures and additional functionality. It seems like an OK software start for a fantastic piece of hardware.

Get it if you don't have the trackpad.

    • Written by from Hong Kong

    1. Got from apple store online. Shipped to HK in prefect condition in 5 days.
    2. The package was cool enough to show it off and take grand opening photos.
    3. Stickers holding the mouse to the case was a little too sticky and left marks on the mouse. However, i was able to wipe it off with my finger after a while.
    4. The connectivity was great, and easy with the OSX. (it is a different world comparing to the PC connecting a mouse!)
    5. Has to download mouse udpates from OS Update inorder to get the multi-function.
    6. The bottom black hard-plastic stand will be polished after your FIRST use.. which I have a bit worried that it will gradually gone like a sole of your leather shoes.

Afterall, if you own a MB and already got used to your trackpad, DONT get this - or you will be a bit disappointed like me! Otherwise, it works as good as other top range bluetooth mouses with an extra pin of the mutli-touch function.

    Near Perfect

I love this mouse but I do need a middle mouse button for 3D programs like Maya.

Maybe Apple can find a way to incorporate a 3rd button feature on a future release without changing the appearance of this beautiful mouse.

This is a very good product except for the fact that it eats batteries at least 5 times as much as my microsoft mouse.

    Love it

    • Written by from ottawa

So basically this mouse is the best mouse i've ever had. I gave it 4/5 stars cause it's kinda hard to get that excited about a mouse. That being said I've had mine for well over a year now and it's still at 100% battery life. THAT is amazing. It's also a little pricy but i got it as a gift so it was great.

I've used mine for years and love it!

    • Written by from Maple Grove

I was just browsing some of the other reviews. I am surprised at some of the low rated reviews. I have had mine for years and never have Bluetooth connection problems. I will say that the battery drain is frustrating, but I finally switched to rechargeable, which I should have done a long time ago. They are lasting longer, and are not so wasteful. The mouse can be a little touchy and I it takes some getting used to. The curser can jump away on you if you bump it wrong, but such a minor thing. It is sleek and comfortable, and best of all - no annoying cord! I love the multi touch gestures and any time I have to use a standard mouse, I find myself frustrated that the whole world hasn't discovered this mouse yet!

Great for general apps but bad for graphic apps!

    • Written by from Indianapolis

For normal mousing in most applications like web surfing, email, iPhoto, word processing, etc., this mouse is great! In Safari or Firefox, you can just "flick it" and it quickly scrolls up and down multiple pages! No other mouse can do this! For my somewhat smaller male hands, it feels comfortable and looks fantastic. I use Apple's rechargeable batteries and they have lasted four months now on my new iMac. I do however, turn the mouse off when not in use. I also leave the Apple wireless keyboard turned on, as it automatically turns off the power when now in use. Battery life is great if used correctly.

What I don't like about the Magic Mouse is how it works in design apps. For Illustrator, Photoshop, a sign program I use called FlexiSign, and most other graphic apps, it scrolls/moves/zooms too quickly, so you can be "lost" on screen. For these types of creative apps, I switch to a basic Logitech mouse with a normal wheel. It's too bad, but the Apple Magic Mouse is just not suitable for every use.

    Awesome, but...

    • Written by from Phoenix

I have a MightyMouse too, and never use it anymore. Apple finally almost got it right.
I say almost, because to make this mouse really work, you need to download MagicPrefs.
This third party driver makes the mouse work like it should.
Without it, you can't even middle-click. This software gives you full control over all aspects of the mouse.
The mouse did take a little getting used to, like the new Apple track pads, but it's well worth it once you do.
Another major flaw is not new to Apple mice. The battery cover falls of very easily.
Apple has problems making battery covers latch properly on their mice, but even with this problem, I wouldn't use any other mouse.
The other nice thing that just came out is a USB charging pad that the mouse just sets on and charges wirelessly.
I plan on getting this too. It's from Mobee, and maybe it will help with the cover falling off. I will soon see....
Even though it's the best mouse I have ever used, because of the above issues, I cannot give it 5 stars. Apple is capable of correcting these things, and only time will tell.

This mouse is really comfortable and fun to use, but it's unreliable. It loses it's connection with my Macbook Pro quite often, which gets annoying. It's also terrible for gaming, if that's what you're looking for. But the technology and coolness behind it are what make it worth owning.

Don't Base Your Opinion On The Apple Store Demos!!!!!

    • Written by from Houston

I used this mouse when going into the Apple store and really disliked it. It was slow, wouldn't respond to the touch-face, and frustrated the heck out of me, but, I heard good things from some people at work, so I bought it to try it out.

It works perfectly at home. I love being able to scroll anywhere on the mouse, and the swiping works perfectly when you are using the mouse how you like, not standing at a bar at the Apple store.

Give it a try, but be warned that you probably will have to adjust some settings to get this mouse to work like you prefer ... it's not perfect out of the box ...!

    Great Mouse!

    • Written by from Ottawa

This is an amazing mouse. Its slim and simple design makes it great for my small hands.

My only issue is battery consumption. I have to change the batteries, approximately every eight weeks. This is a bit excessive.

Nice once you get used to it

    • Written by from Alexandra Hills

I'll admit that when I first got it, I considered sending it back as I didn't like the feel or use. It just seemed less precise than the trackpad and the whole gesture thing turned me off, despite the amount of customisation I changed!

Now I wouldn't even think about using any other mouse! Beautiful product and great concept.

If you buy it and think about returning it, just keep using and you'll love it as much as I do!

    Great Mouse! Great Buy!!!!!

    • Written by from Gilbert

The mouse uses double A batteries which is a BIG thing for me because they are cheaper for me. Very light and slender so it can fit in my computer bag. It is a bit pricy but i think it is worth it. I say it is a great buy and a great replacement for non apple mice!

    Extremely Slick

    • Written by from Oakville

    Very, very, cool mouse.
Bluetooth is nice as it frees up a USB port, and the multi-touch becomes second-nature for anyone with a newer MacBook or MacBook Pro (or iPhone/touch for that matter).

Takes about 10 minutes to get used to, but after that it is wonderful. If you are used to a high arch on your previous mouse this may feel a bit too low at first. Also, save yourself some time and run Software Update *before* trying to use it. I had a brand new MacBook and needed an update before it would connect.

Hands down the best mouse I have ever owned.

    • Written by from Pagnacco

This is a truly amazing piece of hardware, giving people who, like me, own a multitouch-less machine the possibility to have just as much fun. There is one catch tho, out of the box this nifty apple product gives you little if none at all of the multitouch experience. You really MUST download BetterTouchTool, just google it or look for it on the boastr blog.

    BEST MOUSE EVER OWNED!

    • Written by from Liverpool

I Got My Mouse With My iMac (Along With My Wireless Keyboard -Obviously) And It Is The BEST Mouse I've Ever Owned! Its Nice And Smooth And Has A Nice Feel In Your Hand! I Would Of Gave It 5*'s But It Is The Battery Life That Puts It Down A Little! Recently I Use Any AA Batteries Which Only Last Me 2 Weeks MAX (And I Am I Everyday User Of My iMac!) So I Am Forever Having To Change The Batteries! But If You Use The Likes Of ALKALINE Batteries (Which Last Longer) Then Obviously No Need To Change It As Often! Apart From The Battery Situation i LOVEEE My Magic Mouse! xD LOVE YOU APPLE!

Two steps forward, one step back

    • Written by from Lethbridge

With the Magic Mouse, Apple is close to having the ultimate mouse. Like a lot of people, I got annoyed with how the Mighty Mouse's trackball would get gummed up. I couldn't get it to scroll down anymore. The Magic Mouse is a huge improvement in that regard; it scrolls quickly and easily. The momentum scrolling is also very nice. The buttons are crisp and responsive. No more trackballs to clean. That's the two steps forward. BUT, I miss the third and fourth buttons to launch Dashboard and Expose. That's a step back. Overall, though, if you scroll a lot with your mouse, this is worth getting.
