    Almost perfect

    • Written by from Chambersburg

I had read both positive and negative reviews of this mouse before making my decision. The positive's far exceeded the negatives so I took the plunge. Bottom line, the mouse is brilliant and it works as advertised. Movement is sharp (even for a wired or USB mouse) and crisp and there is zero noticeable Bluetooth lag you normally see from other manufacturers. The button(s) are responsive and whether on a mouse pad or desktop, the unit moves around freely.
Now for the caveats: Because this mouse is sleek, it is difficult for me to use it for long periods of time, comfortably. If you have big hands, this may not be the mouse for you. Second, it is sensitive so if you set it up for left click/right click operation and you have big hands, you will right click when you meant to left click and vice versa...there is no avoiding it.
Neither of these 'negatives' are the fault of the device itself and are only meant as warnings to others with large hands.
I give it four stars simply because it is not made for everyone. However, functionality wise I would say it is 5 stars!

Apple has done it once again

    • Written by from Toronto

This mouse works perfectly for me. I bought it just over a week ago and haven't ran into any problems, yet. To get the most out of this mouse I recommend downloading a 3rd party app known as MagicPrefs, which lets you customize every aspect of the mouse. Overall, this is a solid mouse, works well with my MacBook Pro, and I've no complaints.GO BUY!!!!

Oh how much do I hate this mouse, let me count the ways.

    • Written by from Brooklyn

I would give it a zero rating if I could. Every single time I have to change the batteries on this mouse it then has pairing problems with the computer. Apple support has suggestions for fixing this, but THEY REQUIRE A MOUSE. They actually advise you to have a wired or usb mouse in order to install your wireless mouse (and the batteries go out pretty frequently). Wait until they improve the technology, it is so not worth the stress and aggravation.

    great functionality, but "scrapes"

    • Written by from Spring Lake

Touch scrolling is great! It sure beats the Mighty Mouse, which constantly suffered from its dirty roller ball. Swiping a finger is much nicer. I haven't perfected two-finger swiping yet but haven't really had anything that required this. As with the Might Mouse, the Magic Mouse has one annoying factor: its scrapes across the desk but even more so than its predecessor. There are no scrape marks, but it's the scraping sound that is annoying. "Quiet as a mouse" it is not. How about some replaceable felt tabs or strips? Set up was quick and easy. Get rid of the scraping sound and you have a 5-star mouse.

    Lots of Potential

    • Written by from Orland Park

A multitouch mouse has a lot of exciting possibilities, but the software is too basic at this point to take advantage of the technology. It is difficult to use a mac with a mouse that can only click, scroll, and right click. It is beautiful and fun to use, but it desperately needs customizable gestures that allow for quick launching of Expose, Spaces, and other useful and commonly used features. I'm really looking forward to an update, or at least a Terminal hack or something to allow for more functionality.

This could be so much better

    • Written by from Sarasota

I went to the apple store today with so much anticipation for the new mouse, but when I tried it out I noticed that there is no middle button and no gesture configuration to start up application or to go to spaces. Come on apple this mouse could have been so good yet it lacking in so many ways. Why is it so difficult for apple engineers to give all the features at once. I'm sure that public outcry will cause apple to update it code to get the feature added, but they should have release it with a full complement of programmable gestures and is it too much to ask for a middle button?

    LOVE

The only thing I find extremely annoying is that I have to use a mouse pad with mine because my desk is glass and the laser doesn't register the glass as a usable surface.

Works beautifully and looks gorgeous! Standard Apple operating procedure.

    • Written by from Los Angeles

When I got my first iMac (2010 27" model), it came with the Magic Mouse and while I only used it for a month or so, I absolutely ADORED it. The only reason that I stopped using it is when the Magic Trackpad was released, which I purchased on day one! It did not take more than 30 mins for me to fall in love with the Trackpad to the point where I ditched the Magic Mouse and I was sad to do so. I used it a LOT that month for hours each day, and every single day.

I have 20 years of computer experience under my belt and it was my favorite mouse and would have remained my favorite pointing device if Apple hadn't outdone itself again with the Trackpad. (no surprise there) I also liked the fact that I did not need a mousepad and it handled the slight uneven nature of the table that I used it on effortlessly without disruption.

As is true for almost every last technology device from Apple, its design was perfect for me as well! I'm tall and I have big hands and had absolutely no problems using the Magic Mouse without any discomfort and it brought me joy every day that I had it, even if I was merely admiring it for its beauty, which I did do on a semi regular basis. ;-)

If you're reading this because you're thinking of getting a mouse, you need not look further. It even worked great in Windows 7 (both via BootCamp and virtualized)

    a big disappointment

    • Written by from New York

It looks great but for me it works poorly...the mouse moves the cursor incredibly slowly even when set to the fastest speeds and for whatever reason when i move the mouse it does not move smoothly but rather as if it was grinding on sand or something like it....all in all this is the second apple mouse i have purchased and the second time i have had the problem with trackng being incredibly slow...i have never owned any other brand mice that had this issue and i had hoped it had been fixed in this new version...i assmed it would have been...seems very strange to me and i am perplexed as to how it isnt a deal breaker for everybody...works the same when i tried it out in the showroom with an apple desktop so i know itsnt just my setup!as i said, strange

i just got this mouse few days ago and i really like it, i like the way is made and.
most people might not like it because it doesn't have a left & right buttons.
the way i look at it is that if it has the same functionality but looks different and especially that neat i like it.

    really good mouse ..but !

    • Written by from New york

It takes a while to get use to it. and than .. you just can't go back to the old mouse.

The only thing that bothers me is the upper surface of the mouse, its not keeping his surface slippery as it is new. ( but still a better then his current competitors )

do not bother with this mouse

    • Written by from Englewood

don't waste your money. the pointer jumps around, skips and is absolutely impossible to use if you require any sort of precision, as with programs like photoshop, final cut, etc.

additionally, i've spent a significant amount of time searching support and message boards to find out what the problem is, and evidently apple has been completely unresponsive to MANY similar complaints about this mouse.

this was a complete waste of my money.

I just got the new mouse yesterday, and I'm so happy that finally mac got rid off that annoying ball. I had to buy 3 mighty m.'s in a year for my laptop.
So far the new mouse is amazing. Works perfectly, and looks beautiful.

Waiting for an update to able to do the 3rd click.

Like the mouse but it is missing basic functions

    • Written by from Carpentersville

I like the size, fell and functionality of the mouse. It works just as good as the promo video implies. Here are it's biggest shortfalls (and I can't imagine how nobody in the development department at Apple saw these as important enough to include..really)
    1. The tracking speed in INCREDIBLY slow even at max speed. Had to download and install Mouse Zoom to fix this
    2. No ability AT ALL to open dashboard or expose from the mouse. Seriously..nobody thought this would be important.

With a good software upgrade to allow for these issues to be resolved, then PERFECT MOUSE!

    It's OK, I guess...

    • Written by from Westfield

I was really looking forward to the Magic Mouse, but my expectations were not met. I have two issues with this product. First, the two-finger gestures are taking me a while to get used to and not nearly as effective as on a trackpad. My second complaint is that it takes at least two minutes for the mouse to be discovered every time I turn it on. I like to save battery power by shutting it off, but it has become a real hassle. I expected better from Apple, especially for what it costs.

    Took it back instantly

    • Written by from Markham

This mouse is not built for people that use the mouse for most of their work. I use my mouse for 8 hours per day as a developer and after two days my wrist felt numb and starting to sieze up. I had to shake my wrists out almost every 10 minutes.

I would expect a company like apple to work a crucial thing like "ergonomics" in to their designs, but seems like they completely ignored that.

I'm not sure who actually would like this mouse but I took it back in favour of the logitech Performance MX

    Amazing design and functionality.

    • Written by from Cumming

Of course, being an Apple product, this mouse is admirably designed. It's sleek, and smooth, and functional. I love that it's bluetooth enabled — no plugging stupid wireless receivers into one of the USB ports on my MacBook Air.

Overall very smooth. Took a little while to get used to using a mouse again, slightly different multitouch gestures which you can figure out without even referencing anything. Only thing is I wish it was cheaper. $70 is steep for a mouse, but I want my workspace to look sleep and this went with everything else. Also had heard from tons of friends how they loved it.
