What The Pro's Use To Make Music

    • Written by from ventura

This is what the modern producer uses in he Professional studio. Logic Pro is used every day by the biggest producers in music. working in a Professional Studio I hook up mac book pro's running Logic up to producer's UAD Apollos or apogee ensembles etc. they basically use the million dollar rooms to critically listen, while they make a 16 or 32 bar section of a song and they all use Logic because it is so simple to and intuitive, comes with incredible stock synths and samples.

Once they finish tracking we run each track through the outs of their convertors, through our analog gear for depth, color & to help create that large sound that only analog gear can produce. from there its into our Black Lion Audio upgraded 192's, clocked with Antelope Audio's Isochrone Trinity and finally into Pro Tools HD where it is processed and Mixed along with vocals, gtrs, etc. to create a finished mix before being sent to the mastering engineer.

you may ask why I explain the whole process and don't spend a large % bragging about just Logic. (Which is an amazing tool, don't get me wrong)

Logic is great at getting ideas out fast, easily and hassle free. it is not however the only tool you will need to create a hit record. I would not recommend it as a stand alone tool because of the inherent sterile sound of the mixer built into the program, the editing capabilities are lacking, there are also head room issues.
past this if you are looking at Logic for a sampler/synth. there is nothing better and this is why it deserves 5 stars.

    Logic Pro 9

    • Written by from New York

    1. THIS IS THE GREATEST DAW EVER CREATED IN MY OPINION.
    2. THE ONLY THING THAT I WILL CHANGE TO MAKE IT PERFECT IS TO GET RID OF THE SAMPLE EDITOR AND MAKE IT SO THAT WE THE USER COULD MANIPULATE THE AUDIO ON THE ARRANGE WINDOW THIS WILL BE GREAT.
    3. AND MAYBE WORK ON LOGIC INTERFACES A LITTLE MAYBE MAKE THE FADER MORE LIKE PROTOOLS OR SOMETHING. IDNT KNOW.... IM SURE APPLE TEAM CAN COME UP WITH SOMETHING.
4.TRUST ME ALOT OF PEOPLE WILL APRECIATE THIS.

    THANK YOU!

The entire university switched, we've never looked back

    • Written by from SALT LAKE CITY

We used to be a [big name DAW] university (30k enrollment). It took me about 40 minutes with Logic before I started a memo advising we switch. Now the entire music dep. and campus library is Logic (hundreds of stations). A handful of faculty and students resisted, but five years later even they are all hard core Logic users. Reasons: we can use any hardware, it's an Apple product, it really is better than [big name DAW], the physically modeled instruments, the reverbs (Space Designer), the comping feature, non-real-time bounce, and the Apple interface. It was designed by musicians. I also use it to record the Utah Symphony. They love the sound.

I've used this software since the Notator Logic days on the Atari. It was mind-blowing then and it continues to impress. Nothing is a comprehensive or powerful. Get it.

    Skeptics need not apply!

    • Written by from Reno

Don't be a skeptic, m-kay! Well, I've used this software extensively now, and I must say it is one of the DAW's that is ranking the highest of all DAW's I've ever used. Fantastic user interface and usability. I do however enjoy ProTools interface quite well and the fluid flow that comes with pt software. Logic, however, have outdone themselves with the amount of plug-ins and loops. No one comes close to the amount of options in Logic. Thank you Apple!

Many reasons to use Logic 9

    • Written by from Bonner

Been using Logic for years. Always the application preferred over the others. There are a few very minor shortcomings which need not be mentioned here, but for its intuitive and core abilities this program is absolutely rock solid. Have never, ever had a crash! That says volumes if you've ever had one (a crash) with one of those applications which are primarily written for the clunky operating system they call Windows, and then massaged to work on a Mac. Don't like that idea. Logic was initially written for the Mac and is strictly for the Mac. No confusion about it.

That said, I wanted only to extol those virtues of Logic, that it does exactly with art and grace what it's supposed to do, and, just happens to include (even if you don't have use for all of them), a fabulous array of instruments, tools, loops and effects. A very complete, hardworking and professional digital audio application. By the way, for those who don't know it, Garage Band is Son of Logic, and not the other way around.

    Awesome for Recording Acoustic Drums!!!!

    • Written by from LAPEER

This software is awesome for recording a live acoustic drum set! You can do so many things with EQing, compression, and reverb, etc... The on screen Mixing board makes it super easy to get a good visual. Its like GarageBand on Steroids. You must get it!!!!

    • Written by from Lindsay

I've been using logic for the past 3 years and can't get enough of it.....it's still as fresh and fun to use today as it was the first day I fired it up......and I'm still figuring things out on it that I didn't notice before....I perform as a single act and put all my backing tracks together on logic......I gotta say.....I'm loving the loops and virtual instruments......I always tell everybody.....you buy the studio and you get the musicians with it......I bought my macbook 3 years ago just for the pupose of running logic.....the thing I've noticed most about mac and logic is the ease of use and the dedication to details

    Perfect For Me

    • Written by from MEMPHIS

I have been recording for over 20+ years from many platforms. Logic has proven to work better for me in many different aspects of recording for me from sound designing to vocal enhancement to having all instrumentations needed to complete many genres of recordings. The sound enhancements and effects are great, just plug in a MIDI controller and go. From the structure of which it is made, it has proven to be very stable for me.

    Logic Studio Rocks

    • Written by from Coventry

Can't understand why anyone wouldn't like this program, but that's just me, I guess. I've been recording for 30 years, in every format that's existed. Logic Studio is, by far, my favorite format ever. I've been using it for over a year now. I pretty much learned the program myself, looking at the manual only a few times. It's loaded with great features, quality effects, processing, sounds, and, if you need them, loops. I found the sound library to be quite useful, and expanded by adding on the Jam Packs. If you're in the market for recording software you should give Logic Studio a look. I've been very happy with it.

    Best for Recording/Composing/Editing

    • Written by from Georgetown

I recently had the age old debate between Logic Pro, Ableton Live and Reason as to which would become my primary editing/composition software. I downloaded the free trials of Live and Reason and played around with them, but in the end I am extremely happy I chose Logic Pro.

Logic Pro is the premier music recording/editing/composition software. That being said, if you are dead set on doing live mixing and not spending a lot of time in the studio, Live is the program for you. The learning curve on Live is a lot steeper, but it's functionality far surpasses MainStage by miles.

I primarily use Logic Pro through the use of midi controllers to play software instruments. The power of the instruments, including the range of sounds, customizability, and control of parameters, is incredible. The customizability of the effects and bussing, as well as the mixer functionality all make this software a fantastic buy for me. For recording/editing/composition, Logic Pro is the software for you. For live performance, Ableton Live is the way to go.

    Incredible stability

    • Written by from Albuquerque

I work for a local church and use Logic 9 for simple scratch recordings to pass out to band members as well as major projects. None of the musicians are trained engineers, but we have been able to learn Logic quickly and effectively. Logic 9 is a pro-application so there are always new things to learn about the program. Logic has worked well with several interfaces including products from Presonus, M-Audio, Focusrite and Apogee.

    Logic gets more love.

    • Written by from Texarkana

I work with many DAW's on an every day basis, including Protools. In fact would have rated Protools as my go to DAW before version 9 of Logic Pro. However, Logic Pro 9 is hands down my go to DAW. Drum editing in slice/flex mode is unbelievable! On a Mac Pro, native recording has come a long way. It's as good as Protools HD in that arena. I still use Protools (version 9) when I get Protools' sessions to mix from other studios, and it works great - but if I'm doing a project start to finish at my studio, it's done in Logic.

    Fantastic !

    • Written by from Troy

This software is absoloutly the best . Love it ! I bought Logic pro 8 and was impressed so I had to get 9 too ! The designers who built the software were brillant and thought of almost everything. Works great with my control surface as well and makes for easy automation. The Midi library alone is worth the money ! Forget buying keyboards all you need is a Midi controller. all the sounds you need are here, B3's , phaser rhoades ,tremelo stuff , Steinway piano's , whurlitzers ect.. The strip silence feature is great for drum tracks and the doubling feature makes for powerful commercial grade recordings in minutes.! After you get over the learning curve of the software you fly with this program. Get this software if you love to record as much as i do !
