    15" MacBook Pro Battery

The MacBook Pro batteries are atrocious! I shelled out over $2000 for my MacBook Pro in 2009. I should not have to shell out another $130 for a battery in a years time. Or ever for that matter.

What is the problem with this battery ?
The original lasted about 2 years and 2-3 months, so I figured ok, let's replace it as my Mac asks for.
The new one has been in place for less than a year, and my Mac is asking for replacement again ! What ???
    280 bucks in 3 years for 2 batteries !
Common Tim, have your guys come up with a real battery !
It goes in a mac !

    Defective

The original battery that came with my laptop was great and lasted about 2 or 3 years before I depleted it. Then when I bought a replacement from an Apple store last year I immediately noticed it wasn't holding a charge as well as it should.

It's progressively gotten worse, and I haven't had the opportunity to go back to the Apple store to request an exchange (I live far away). The battery currently loses 1% charge per minute, on the lowest brightness setting, bluetooth off, and with only one Microsoft Word document open. Frustrating to say the least.

Morale of this story: Make sure the battery isn't defective before you get too far from where you buy it. Or buy it from amazon.

    bad product from apple...

I own 2 Acer laptops (I3) bought each at $599. They are being heavily used by my kids on daily basis but its battery still work like it is advertised.

But sadly, i have paid more than $2000 for this Mac Book Pro (i7), and used almost 70% of what my kids used the laptops. And all of sudden it stopped charging the battery and the OS says it need to be replaced. If we have to pay almost 4 times the prices for getting this junk then why do we need a Mac? Isn’t that to make the Apple's top officials wallet lot bigger?

The fact is that my i3 laptops are way faster than this i7 mac book pro, it takes forever to boot and/or open any app, even after upgrading the memory to 8GB. They're giving you the 5400rpm hard drive. If Apple is putting all the cheapest hardware in the system and making the external case look pretty then what is the point of Apple? Attract the customers based on look and not by the performance? PC works lot better than this Mac these days... Apple messed up in the Mac as well as in iPhones... Why in the world you go backward Apple because we trust in you too much?

Common Apple, I think you can do lot better to make your valuable customers satisfied if not happy. Put some good parts in your products that are reliable...

    Battery for MBP

I have my 1st gen. 15 in MBP all-aluminum unibody (w/ black keyboard) since 2008. Now 5 years later, I've consistently had 3 to 3.5 hrs use out of 1 single charge. Lately the battery warning came on, and I've been procrastinating on getting a new one. One day I let the battery completely drained overnight and the next day the MBP would not wake up, the screen stay completely black, with or without the AC adapter plugged in, with or with the battery removed and AC connected.

I took it to Apple Genius Bar (Emeryville) Marie got it working again (bless her heart!) and today the same problem recurred. I've had my fill with this battery, so I'm not complaining. I'll take Marie's advice though: "Next time if it happens again you need to buy a new battery." Sure, I will have to fork out 130 big American dollars and forego buying a lot of rice with that amount!

Really? 130 for a battery and it only last 2-3 years. I bought my macbook pro in 2009 fall and the battery get swell really bad in 2012 spring, I don't use the battery that often, most of the time it's on AC adapter, and when I bring it to the store, they told me they don't cover it...

    Not Pleased

Bought my 15-inch (Aluminum) MacBook Pro in April 2011 and now I am getting a warning to completely replace my battery in November 2012. Average usage is about 4 to 6 hours, 3 to 4 days per week. I never got the number of hours that the battery was suppose to operate on with a single charge. Come-on APPLE you can do better than that, if you claim that your product can perform at a certain level (7 hours on a signal charge) that is what I expect, not 4 hours. Life expectancy for your batteries is never clearly stated, please start developing a 10 hour, 2 year use no matter how much you use your MacBook Pro. Remember companies like Samsung want to out sale, out develop, and out perform you, APPLE. Look what they did with there Smartphones!

I've tried the "best" generic batteries, and they all stink. They generate tremendous amounts of heat (which is wasted energy and shows a lack of efficient operation). This battery works well, doesn't overheat and gives solid battery life.

This is the only real battery worthy of your mac. Don't be fooled by imitators.

    Expansion

    • Written by from Lynchburg

12 of 12 people found this useful

I'm on my third battery now. The first one made it 6 months before expanding and making it near impossible to remove rear cover of my macbook pro. Second one made it almost a year before doing the same. Im now on my third battery and has expanded so badly that I had to remove it in order for my trackpad to click. The battery was putting so much pressure against the trackpad that it rendered it inoperable.

And here I go again, buying another battery because its the only choice :(

    Macbook Pro Battery

Only now my battery isn't working, well it does work, but it exploded beyond its normal size and does not completely fit anymore - first expense on this computer in four years ownership. It still retains 6 hours of charge -

Overall the computer has been mostly great and reliable - had a video card issue in the very beginning, but apple picked it up, repaired it, returned by Fed Ex overnight - had the computer back the next day - no charge.

My original battery went after 2 years & lucky for me I was still under warranty. Not so lucky the second time around. The second battery completely died after 10 months. Great laptop but NOT so great battery! With all the battery issues reported you would think Apple would do something about it!

This battery is a rip-off. First of all, the battery life is deceptively advertised as long-lasting, you're lucky to get 45 minutes if you have 1 application open. RIp-off and overpriced!

i've had my macbook pro since mid 2009, and now three years later i'm getting a warning that i have to change my battery soon.
In the beginning i remember that it last up to six (maybe seven) hours, at least through the first two lord of the rings movies...
anyways now-a-days it only lasts for two-three hours which i think is not that bad considering that i'm on my 1370 cycle, and that's no joke.
    so 5 STARS from me!

No problem with the battery .

I bought my Mac Pro 3 years ago. Only now is the battery not holding its usual charge. By that I mean, the charge lasts only 3-4 hours instead of 7.
Considering that my husband bought a PC at the same time, and that his battery is now, at the same time as mine, giving him a short recharge time, I don't think that my Apple battery has disappointed me.
So, I give it a FIVE STARS rating.

    bulgy battery

My Macbookpro is 3.5 years old. The battery had been still in perfect condition in March. Then during a long flight in April,I watched HD movies on my macbook pro, and after about 1.5 hours the battery started to swell and I was unable to use my touchpad.

Ever since then, then battery became worse and worse. Today, it is NOT possible any longer to charge it.

I am sure macbookpro's battery could swell in flight due to less air pressure, and that is not restorable.
