    Amazing Battery

After getting my aluminum macbook I decided that i would need a secondary battery because often I am away from a plug all day doing work. These batteries are great let me tell you. I average 4 hours per charge with brightness and keyboard backlighting at 25% and with airport connected. With 2 of these batteries I almost never have to plug in my laptop during the day, only once I get home for the night and put my laptop away to use my MacPro

The battery lasts a long while.
If it's used correctly, it will last for around 3-4 hours.

Just open a few applications and don't brighten the screen to much.
Connecting to the internet won't help, but it will still last enough.

Buying it will help on long trips.

    Very convenient for traveling!!

I just came back from my vacation in Europe. I was there for 2 ½ weeks - reason why I purchased my first 13” Aluminum Macbook (which by the way it’s awesome!) - Anyway, after I purchased my Macbook, I realized that one battery will probably not be enough as the plane ride was pretty long. I decided to order another battery and let me tell you, I am glad I did! It was perfect for my trip, I got to see a couple of movies and work with pictures while in the plane and train rides of the trip. Changing the battery is a breeze, takes me about a minute to do it… very easy!

I totally recommend it, especially if you have to travel often. About the charge life, I experienced 4 hrs, but this is watching movies and with airport on (Blue tooth off). You may be able to get 5 hrs out of these batteries if all that you are doing is word processing.

    Enjoy!

    Bad Battery

As you can see my battery has had only 85 cycles and is giving me the check battery condition. It worked great until one day my mac just shut off with no warning. Now I'm lucky to get 4-5 minutes out of it. I feel that Apple should address this problem as I see that I am not alone in this.

    Apple, I am just disappointed

Come on now Apple. When I bought my Macbook 16 months ago, the battery was advertised as state of the art. The battery lasted no longer than a year before it completely died. The computer will not run on battery for more than 10 minutes.

Based on the numerous similar reviews, this is not simple wear and tear, Apple. This should be covered! I am just disappointed!

Less then a year holding full charge

Battery lasted less then a year holding a full 3 hour charge. Now at almost two years it holds a charge for about 10 minutes. Very expensive yearly charge to use my very expensive top of the market notebook computer.

Unplug Your Battery When It's Charged!

It's seems there are mixed reviews here so i'll add a positive one. If you actually unplug your computer when it's charged your battery lasts A LONG TIME! I had a roommate with the same computer bought several weeks apart and he needed a new battery after about a year. Why is this? because he never unplugged it, so when he did eventually his battery life was terrible. If you unplug it when it's charged it will work very well.

    Full charge capacity (mAh): 3883
    Health Information:
    Cycle count: 579
    Condition: Normal

that's almost 600 load cycles on the original battery, with a 90% original capacity and the computer is 33 months old. That's just shy of 3 years.

Apple I love your products that is all that I purchase for my home and office but what is up with this battery? I have not even had it two years and now I have to purchase a new one because it will not hold a charge for more than about 10 minutes if I am lucky. You really need to lower the cost or add a discount to your customers. I love your customer service but this is not right. I pay extra for your great products and this battery is what I would expect from a PC not my wonderful Mac products.

The battery worked fine for about a year. But it started swelling after that. I was ready to pay for a replacement, but Apple does not give warranty against swelling. So you are on your own if the new battery also swells. Moreover, the Apple rep also said that it's "normal" for a battery to swell.

    Poor Battery Quality

I can't believe that my Macbook battery barely lasted 2 years, now, I need to have my Macbook plugged in all the time, it won't even last a minute without it. I am thinking if it is worth investing another 130$ on this, which may not even last a year or just buy an iPad and keep the Macbook plugged in..

I am not too impressed with the quality of battery life..

    Battery Troubles

    • Written by from Houston

62 of 65 people found this useful

My first battery lasted 9 months and was replaced under warranty.

My replacement also only lasted 9 months (notice a theme yet?). Apple normally says the warranty on batteries is one year. When the replacement died they then tell me that they will not replace it. They say that it only has a 90 day warranty.

Why does the same battery have a 1 year replacement at times and 90 day at other times? It's the same battery. Apple should stand behind their products the same. If someone has already had a problem once then not standing behind it the second time is not the smart thing to do. This is very frustrating.

    Apple, what is your problem?!?

I have always liked Apple products, but the battery life on my MacBook is just plain ridiculous! I've had my computer for 18 months, and I'm lucky if my battery lasts 45 minutes before having to plug it in. It's quite upsetting to see my friends who have PCs with much better battery quality. Why would I pay $130 for a battery that won't last long at all? This is just not right Apple. You need to step up your game.

    Another failure after one year

    • Written by from Walnut Creek

I purchased my MacBook in January 2009. Battery was fine until a week ago, would run several hours on charge. One day last week I noticed that, when plugged in, the charge meter read 0%. The next day I went to use it while traveling and the computer wouldn't turn on. It won't hold a charge. There had been no sign of deterioration before this. Strange how all these batteries are suddenly failing after one year.

I am about to replace the battery on my 13" Macbook after 1390 cycles, I guess that is pretty decent from what I read. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because of the cost.

I was very upset with the quality of this battery. I love Apple products but I am not at all happy with the battery life. I have not had my laptop for very long and I already need to replace the battery because it now died when disconnected for less than five minutes. The only problem is, my warranty is not valid any more and I don't have the money to replace the battery. I love you Apple but you have thoroughly disappointed me.

Bought my Mac in Jan 2009, starting in Jan 2010 the computer shuts down when on battery power. My charge indicates it's at 100% and it runs for a couple minutes and then shuts off. Now just beyond the warranty period it's hard to decide, $129 for a new battery which might not solve my problem, or $249 for Applecare.
