    Amazing Battery

    • Written by from Tustin

After getting my aluminum macbook I decided that i would need a secondary battery because often I am away from a plug all day doing work. These batteries are great let me tell you. I average 4 hours per charge with brightness and keyboard backlighting at 25% and with airport connected. With 2 of these batteries I almost never have to plug in my laptop during the day, only once I get home for the night and put my laptop away to use my MacPro

    Very convenient for traveling!!

    • Written by from East Burke

I just came back from my vacation in Europe. I was there for 2 ½ weeks - reason why I purchased my first 13” Aluminum Macbook (which by the way it’s awesome!) - Anyway, after I purchased my Macbook, I realized that one battery will probably not be enough as the plane ride was pretty long. I decided to order another battery and let me tell you, I am glad I did! It was perfect for my trip, I got to see a couple of movies and work with pictures while in the plane and train rides of the trip. Changing the battery is a breeze, takes me about a minute to do it… very easy!

I totally recommend it, especially if you have to travel often. About the charge life, I experienced 4 hrs, but this is watching movies and with airport on (Blue tooth off). You may be able to get 5 hrs out of these batteries if all that you are doing is word processing.

    Enjoy!

    Amazing

    • Written by from New Waverly

The battery lasts a long while.
If it's used correctly, it will last for around 3-4 hours.

Just open a few applications and don't brighten the screen to much.
Connecting to the internet won't help, but it will still last enough.

Buying it will help on long trips.

Unplug Your Battery When It's Charged!

    • Written by from Langhorne

It's seems there are mixed reviews here so i'll add a positive one. If you actually unplug your computer when it's charged your battery lasts A LONG TIME! I had a roommate with the same computer bought several weeks apart and he needed a new battery after about a year. Why is this? because he never unplugged it, so when he did eventually his battery life was terrible. If you unplug it when it's charged it will work very well.

    Full charge capacity (mAh): 3883
    Health Information:
    Cycle count: 579
    Condition: Normal

that's almost 600 load cycles on the original battery, with a 90% original capacity and the computer is 33 months old. That's just shy of 3 years.

Don't Underestimate the Value of This Battery!

    • Written by from Guelph

This battery was rated for 500cycles, but instead decided to give me 1437 before going to that great big battery field up in the sky. I didn't even practice the "good battery care techniques" that I've only now learned exist.

As far as I'm concerned, that's great value.

    4 years and working great

    • Written by from Middleton

As I was about to purchase a new battery, and after reading the reviews, I realized how lucky I am. I have been using my 2008 Late Aluminum MacBook unplugged for nearly 2 hours now, and I am at 70%, with 3 hours remaining. I noticed the review that suggested unplugging when fully charged. Although there were times I would leave it plugged in for a day or two, generally, it was left unplugged, so this may well be helpful after all. The price of the battery is rather steep, so I think I might just wait a little longer to order a second batter, just to have one on hand. I realize now that I confused the charge in this MacBook to the one in my IPad. Hey...I'm old, it happens.

I've had this battery for almost 3 years, and as you can see above, over 1k cycles. I'm going to have to replace now, but based on the fact that it lasted this long, I'm not at all reticent to pay the $130.

A battery is made to be used!

    • Written by from San Jose

This is for all the people complaining about this battery and say that they dont unplug the computer and have a broken battery with less than 100 cycles. Right now I'm in a public library, and have been working for 2 hours with battery (completely unpluged, surfing wireless, and doing microsoft word), this is the info I have right now:

    Charge Information:
    Charge remaining (mAh): 1823
    Fully charged: No
    Charging: No
    Full charge capacity (mAh): 3739
    Health Information:
    Cycle count: 747
    Condition: Normal
    Battery Installed: Yes
    Amperage (mA): -1024
    Voltage (mV): 11288

This battery is 2 years and 4 months old! The secret of getting this numbers is simple: use the battery!!!!! In other words: plug it in when it needs charge (this is when you get the message "your computer is running on reserve battery power") and unplug it once you get 100%. This has been very effective for me, and I am very thankful with the mac genius who told me this secret.
I'm sure the life of a battery is not a luck issue, it's just to know how to use the batteries, for now, I think I'll get another one because 3.5 hours it is giving now is not enough for me, and this battery is really good.

    Good luck!

    Take care of your battery!

    • Written by from Bobin

It seems that there are a lot of negative reviews regarding this particular battery so I'm going to try and clear some things up. There are some things you can do to try and extend the life of your battery, the simplest of which is UNPLUGGING your laptop from the charger when the battery it's FULL. If you do this your batteries lifespan will last for years. Example, my laptop is still using it's original 4 year old battery and it's still running strong:
    Charge Information:
    Charge Remaining (mAh): 1724
    Fully Charged: No
    Charging: No
    Full Charge Capacity (mAh): 3637
    Health Information:
    Cycle Count: 1373
    Condition: Normal

My guess is the people submitting the negative reviews have no idea how to take care of their battery.

    Battery life/Battery care

    • Written by from Cumberland

My Macbook has 339 cycles on it. Once you hit 300 cycles, in some ways, everything extra is icing on the cake. My battery still has 47Wh of capacity and according to the spec sheet it hold a nominal capacity of 45Wh, so it is still within specifications. The battery should keep up to 80% of the rated capacity by 300 cycles. This is according to specifications. If your battery has passed 300 and has died, please don't complain, the battery is within specification. Most batteries made currently last 300 cycles, so that is normal. In my time with portable computers, I have seen many batteries go bad, and that is normal within certain limits. You have to know what those limits are and keep them in mind,
One thing important to note is that there are many ways to properly treat a battery to make it last longer including unplugging your computer every now and then so that your computer can use the battery. When you get the battery, use the instructions in the Apple knowledgebase to calibrate it. Never keep your computer plugged in all the time. This is bad for the battery and can result in your battery dying prematurely. This is a poor way to "baby" your battery. You can read tips on how to keep your battery in shape. They are up in the Apple knowledgebase as well. I have found the tips presented to be helpful for all of my electronics with lithium ion batteries.

Learn how to use a rechargeable battery

    • Written by from Fort Wayne

I bought my Macbook in 2009 and I haven't had to replace the battery yet. It now says "Replace Soon". Here are a few tips to make your battery last long than 1 year-as many consumers claim its lifetime is.

-When you charge your battery, charge to completion
-When the battery is charged, unplug it
-Don't charge it unless it needs it
-Calibrate it via Apple's instructions online regularly

Following these easy steps will help you maximize your battery's lifetime. Your battery WILL deplete if you don't use it properly, its not Apple's responsibility to protect you from improperly using it.

Honestly, the MacBook batteries are generally very well built. Mine has lasted me 3 years, I'm on 784 cycles and I can still get a solid 3 hours on it! Purchasing a second battery will only give me extra hours on my laptops life :)

    • Written by from Catasauqua

My current battery status speaks for itself. Bought late 2008 - 13 inch Macbook:

Yep, that's right - 5 years, and 1890 full charge cycles and STILL keeps going!!!!

    Charge Information:
    Charge remaining (mAh): 3342
    Fully charged: Yes
    Charging: No
    Full charge capacity (mAh): 3342
    Health Information:
    Cycle count: 1890
    Condition: Normal
    Battery Installed: Yes
    Amperage (mA): 0
    Voltage (mV): 12495

If you let your machine run on battery after full charges, and drain it down to almost 'empty' most of the time before putting back on the charger, you will also get battery life like this!
