    Earbuds for 3GS

Written by TS from SHOW LOW

    Dec 2, 2009

    These are terrific earbuds, except......

The sound is good, the fit is good, the remote buttons work flawlessly, but they simply don't last. I wear my iPhone for about 15 hours a day and the earbuds last for a month or so. Typically one earpiece starts sounding distorted or quits altogether. Good thing I bought the Apple Care Extended Plan as Apple happily sends me a new set overnight FedEx every time they go bad. When they work, they work great, but they just don't work for long. If it weren't for the fact that Apple replaces them instantly, I would rate them far lower.

    Amazing, except the right earphone!

    Written by MW from Winfiled

    Dec 1, 2009

These wonderful earphones are the only type of earphone that actually stay in my ears! The only problem is that after about 3/4 of a year, the right earphone stopped working, not completely, but you have to crank it up to hear! I hardly ever have both in anyways because i'm always talking to friends. Besides this minor difficulty, the earphones are superb sound quality and I would suggest them to everyone!

    Not Worth It

    Written by TS from Brampton

    Dec 1, 2009

The sound quality is acceptable, but definitely on the low end. The problem however, is the extremely short lifespan. I use these no more than 3 hours each day, and after a couple months, they begin to break down. First, I lose bass, then they stop working. Even when I take good care of the, and avoid moisture, they still manage to break. I've gone through three pairs in the last year, and I've had enough.

WOW nice :D Works with Newer Ipods and Newer MACS

    Written by MF from Pomona

    Dec 1, 2009

First of all I got these because if the convenience of the remote and mic, since it’s compatible with my iPod Model. Then I got curious, and searched on apple if they would work with newer macs, and they did! Now i can use the mic to control my volume and itunes, the same way I can with my ipod, in addition to that, it might double as a mic as well.

I highly recommend these headphones for newer iPods and Macs alike.

    Happy Listening!

    Great while they lasted

Written by OC from Hong Kong

Sounded great for the month that they lasted. I took care of them...the weak link is the remote on the right side...just failed without warning. They're not even that cheap !

    Fine, but overpriced

    Written by BG from Dallas

These headphones are fine, but fine alternatives exist in the $10-15 range.

Mine have been in heavy use for three months without issue.

    Don't use these for exercise

    Written by EW from Bountiful

    Dec 1, 2009

Despite the fact that Nike+ iPod is built into the iPhone and iPod Touch--promoting the devices for exercise use--these earphones aren't up to snuff for that use. Any--and I mean ANY--sweat or moisture shorts out the remote control and causes all kinds of havoc. Not only do functions on the remote stop working, but the headphones will cause the iPod to randomly start, electronically suppress the volume unless re-plugged in or clicked multiple times, cause songs to skip or fast forward, or cause the iPod to constantly enter into voice command mode etc.

I've been through two pairs with very light and limited use in exercising and both have shorted out within two weeks with very little contact with sweat--we're talking a single drop of sweat rolling down the cord and hitting the remote section. Weren't these tested for their intended use?!?

Vastly overpriced and vastly under engineered. I love Apple products and have been a loyal Apple customer for almost two decades now. This is the worst Apple product I've encountered.

I love the idea and it was perfect for exercise while it lasted, but these headphones are a waste of money.

be prepared to buy a pair of these every year

Written by HL from New York

    Dec 1, 2009

these are decent headphones - until they break, that is. they last about a year. apple should sell them for 9.99; then maybe they'd be worth it. if i could find similar headphones with a mic for the iphone from a different company, i'd be trying out those. right now i guess i just have to throw away 29.99 every year. come on apple, you can do better than this.

got ruined in less than a week

    Written by DP from Washington

I bought them happily that they were going to last. However, the microphone suddenly stopped working as well as the volume and play button. Now the right side of the earphones stopped working too. Worst earphones ever.

$29 for 29 days of use

    Written by KO from Livonia

    Nov 30, 2009

These headphones are great for handsfree calls. If you think about using them at the gym, you can just forget it!!! Don't stay in long at all especially when lifting/running. I have gone threw three pairs of them because I love the remote feature for my 3GS iPhone because you can control the entire phone with the remote. However, the right ear-phone has broken on me everytime on all three pairs. I wish apple would make the remote capable with your macbook, but maybe thats in the near future. The headphones are great but they dont last longer than a month if your on your Apple device all the time like i am. They need to be able to handle sweat for gym purpose activities and last longer than a month.

    No hold button

Written by LB from Oak Park

    Nov 30, 2009

Do not leave your earphones plugged into your iPod with these earphones. If the remote get bumped, it will cause music to just play and play and play. The last remote at least had a hold button. Plus, my Sony earphones are much better.

    Don't Like

    Written by EP from Philadelphia

    Nov 30, 2009

The sound is okay, but they are hard to operate. I can not skip to the next song, and keep creating playlists that are about 10 songs, so the same 10 songs play over and over until I reset the ipod from my computer. I can not figure out how to stop the playlist from playing. It doesn't seem to pause either. If I didn't have a iPod Shuffle I would not buy these ear phones, but I am stuck until I buy a different iPod!!

    Not even worth the $29.00

    Written by HP from Ijamsville

The primary function of earbuds is to stay in your ear and reproduce the music. These earbuds fail at both. When they are in your ear they won't sit at the proper angle to give you good response and balance.

    Another over priced Apple accessory.

read the fine print carefully--don't be duped

    Written by AB from Denver

    Nov 29, 2009

The phones are the usual, decent earbuds. The answer/hang up feature works. But the advertisement doesn't clearly state that they are NOT fully compatible with iPhone 3G-- all the reported features of volume adjust, etc ONLY work with 3GS, the model that came out in July '09, I believe. Lame- I'm now stuck with the most expensive $29 earbuds on the market.

    Not good for the gym.

Written by VC from White Plains

    Nov 28, 2009

The only reason I bought the shuffle was to use it at the gym for working out. The headphones failed within a few weeks and so did the shuffle. Unable to control the volume or playlists. Would not buy a player that relies on these headphones because the headphones are unreliable.

    Complete garbage

Written by AD from Des Moines

    Nov 28, 2009

These headphones sound great, look great, and work great… right up until you try to use them at the gym. I've had three pair of these, each of which Apple assured me would work at the gym. Each pair has failed spectacularly during the very first use. The remote goes crazy the second you start sweating: random pausing, fast fowarding, and somehow stopping my music altogether (which isn't even a supported function, so that's a neat trick!) Bottom line: this is the worst Apple product I've ever owned. Buy any headphones but these.
