Fine, but overpriced
Written by BG from Dallas

These headphones are fine, but fine alternatives exist in the $10-15 range.
Mine have been in heavy use for three months without issue.5 of 5 people found this useful

Apple Earphones with Remote and Mic
$29 for 29 days of use
Written by KO from Livonia
Nov 30, 2009
These headphones are great for handsfree calls. If you think about using them at the gym, you can just forget it!!! Don't stay in long at all especially when lifting/running. I have gone threw three pairs of them because I love the remote feature for my 3GS iPhone because you can control the entire phone with the remote. However, the right ear-phone has broken on me everytime on all three pairs. I wish apple would make the remote capable with your macbook, but maybe thats in the near future. The headphones are great but they dont last longer than a month if your on your Apple device all the time like i am. They need to be able to handle sweat for gym purpose activities and last longer than a month.

6 pairs all have a blown left speaker?
Written by RH from Ronkonkoma
Oct 20, 2009
I got a pair of these each with my shuffle and my Iphone 3GS, I like the way they fit, I like the way they sound, I like the inline controls near my head. I use them at the gym, on my bike and all day at work. Ive never had a wire break or anything mechanically go wrong with them, but I've replaced both pairs three times each. Every time it's because the left speaker has blown. I generally use the right ear while im at work so people can still ask me questions and i can hear whats going on around and i tuck the left speaker into my shirt.
All pairs were replaced at no charge through the apple store, however its still a real pain having to drive there once a month.17 of 19 people found this useful

When i heard about these headphones i had to have them i got them a week after they came out and the day i got them i had put them
in my EMPTY pocket and they had a slit in the wire which made that side get fuzzy and then about 9 monthes later the side withremote got fuzzy and the other side was fine after a
few weeks. im probably gonna get a new pair but they need to make them more resistant like water and when u bounce around or the wind blows they get fuzzy! Please fix this Apple!7 of 10 people found this useful

Cool Earphones, But Not Durable
Written by NP
Oct 4, 2009
Apple makes some impressive things and this is one of them. These nice little earphones fit snuggly in your ear. These earphones are also a little remote so you can scroll through you songs and change the volume. There is also a mic so you can record your voice and answer calls. There is also a button that lets you pause music. The only problem with these headphone are that they are not durable. I had them for five weeks and they broke. I then bought a second pair. These lasted for four weeks. I just got my third pair about two months ago. My headphones are lasting longer because i am taking ALOT of care of them. I hope this is a helpful review to you.

Rubber stripping
Written by ID from New York
Sep 23, 2009
Okay, hands down these are the best sounding headphones I've ever had. I use them for my iPod 2G. So, why three stars when the sound quality is the best? Quality. I'm on my third set of headphones in a year. With each one, the rubber fitting that keeps out ambient noise just strips away without warning. I don't work-out in them, and may use them only a few times a week (I have an iPod-ready stereo at home). Still, once the rubber strips off, the sound quality goes with it.
Apple... are you building these things to self destruct so consumers will keep replacing them? Great warranty but, most working people don't have the time to keep going into your store for this issue. I'm guessing you know this, though.48 of 56 people found this useful

Controls are flaky
Written by EH from Toronto
Sep 22, 2009
The sound is acceptable, if a little light on the bass. However I found that the controls became increasingly unreliable with time, apparently this is a common problem.
My cat decided to solve the issue for me and chew through them, so now I'll be getting the Klipsch Image S4i's.5 of 7 people found this useful

Apple needs to fix!
Written by TL from Downingtown
Aug 30, 2009
I give the player itself 5 stars - finally can hold all my workout songs as the previous shuffles did not at 1gb and 2gb. I love this 4gb device and how small it is - however, my headphones are fried - any sweat on them and they stop working. For me it was volume, it would suddenly increase or decrease, and now I have no way of turning the volume down rendering the unit useless until I buy another pair (sigh).

iPod Shuffle Earpbuds
Written by ES from Grants
Aug 26, 2009
I find the earbuds to be painful, yet I cannot replace them because there is none other that I've found to be compatible with the 3rd gen Shuffle. Furthermore, I've only had my Shuffle for about 3 months & use it about 2 or 3 times a week, sound about mid-volume, and already one of the speakers is blown. I see there is now a new model which costs more than the Shuffle itself. Sounded good while it lasted, but the brief lifespan is disappointing.

Needs work
Written by JA from New York
Aug 17, 2009
Sound quality is great, and so are the mic controls. But over a period of time, one headphone will blow out and one remains weaker and eventually they both blow out or the rubber around the headphone rim peels off and the plastic cap on the earbud falls off, and you're left with a non working headphone. Please, Apple, make this product more durable for the next generation. Same price too.

Average Sound Quality but NOT DURABLE
Written by AS from Brampton
Aug 11, 2009
Ok, I'm not very rough with my headphones but I am practically attached to my ipods everyday! And I really mean everyday....I never leave my house without my ipod.
But I also am the type that go through so many headphones...In average I've had at least 1 headphone per month.
I recently bought this for my iPod Touch 2G because of the Mic (since I wanted to see what shazam is all about).
Sound is ok (not amazing) but the remote control was sooo useful. I didn't have to take out my iPod constantly to change the songs....but the only flaw to this for me was the quality of the product itself.
After using it...i neatly tuck it in my bag when I'm at work or at the end of the day I place it carefully in my cabinet...But still it managed to break on its 3rd week. As usual, the right headphone gave in and after that I just stopped using it altogether. I checked if it was the headphone itself and the wiring was the problem. Somehow it managed to come loose inside because whenever I wiggle it around the sound comes back until I let the wire go again.
WHY CAN'T THEY MAKE A DURABLE HEADPHONE!?!?! ---I will pay whatever price it is just to get this same headphone but better quality :( I just love the REMOTE CONTROL7 of 12 people found this useful

Not the best they can be.....
Written by KO from Buckley

These earphones are so-so. The sound with these is not as good as it could be. After a while, the sound starts to get scratchy. I replaced mine with a pair of Panasonic earphones, and the sound is much better and doesn't get scratchy. The Apple earphones are okay, but just not as good as they should be.
