Great while they lasted
Written by OC from Hong Kong

Sounded great for the month that they lasted. I took care of them...the weak link is the remote on the right side...just failed without warning. They're not even that cheap !

Not even worth the $29.00
Written by HP from Ijamsville
Nov 30, 2009
The primary function of earbuds is to stay in your ear and reproduce the music. These earbuds fail at both. When they are in your ear they won't sit at the proper angle to give you good response and balance.
Another over priced Apple accessory.17 of 24 people found this useful

read the fine print carefully--don't be duped
Written by AB from Denver
Nov 29, 2009
The phones are the usual, decent earbuds. The answer/hang up feature works. But the advertisement doesn't clearly state that they are NOT fully compatible with iPhone 3G-- all the reported features of volume adjust, etc ONLY work with 3GS, the model that came out in July '09, I believe. Lame- I'm now stuck with the most expensive $29 earbuds on the market.

How to make everyone on the bus hate you
Written by PH from Geneva
Nov 27, 2009
Simply use these apple headhones or any of their similar designs that come with every iPod/iPhone.
More sound leaks out of these than what goes into your ears, so everyone around you can hear the music louder than you can. This results in plenty of hateful stares on the bus and subway.
These devices should be banned on public transport.
I gave them 2 stars because the sound quality is average for this type of headphone and they are good for making hands free phone calls. Don't even think about using these if you like to hear your music in good quality.3 of 3 people found this useful

Problems
Written by MW from Muncie
Nov 25, 2009
I had my shuffle for a month and noticed that during my workouts, i couldn't adjust the volume. Later in the day the volume controls were back. However, during the next workout, once i had began to sweat, i lost the volume control again. Eventually, the volume controls were out completely. This was within 2 months of purchase.
The remote housing is not sufficient to shield sweat from getting on the inside and corrupting the switch.32 of 42 people found this useful

doesn't work with ipod classic
Written by SW from Lions Head
Nov 24, 2009
I do think the earphones are alright for sound quality, nothing fabulous, but as good an earbud as I have found. My problem with this is that my ipod classic does not work with the remote. So I paid more for these buds because of the handy remote, and although it said they work with ipod classic they do not if you have a 160GB rather than a 120. ???? Why that should matter I don't know, but they sure don't tell you about it. Second problem, once you have accepted that the remote doesn't work and you just want to use the earbuds as they are perhaps with the extremely expensive radio remote you can buy as an accessory. NO, doesn't work at all because the remotes on the buds somehow mess with the other remote. So now you try checking for some software update for your ipod classic that will fix it, nope. Dream on, no update. They want you to buy another ipod. That's a microsoft trick. Apple is no different.

Love the concept, hate the quality
Written by SN from Kilauea
Nov 18, 2009
Within 4 weeks of using my earphones the remote and mic stopped working. Apple replaced them with no hassle, but now my second set has the same problem after just 3 weeks of use! My third pair is on the way--I hope I can get at least a few more weeks out of this next set.
I use the earphones with my shuffle while running--about 1 hr every other day. So excessive use or damaging conditions are not a factor.
I'm very disappointed because I love them when they are working.16 of 25 people found this useful

not suited for running :(
Written by JF from Toronto

Got really disappointed when jogging with this type of headphone. Sweat tends to seep in, damaging the controls. It rendered my volume-up button useless!! Had to buy another set. Definitely can't use this one for running anymore...

Too fragile!
Written by GN from SEATTLE
Nov 12, 2009
I have had my 1st gen iPhone since August 2007 (paid the "early adopter premium") and I'm ordering my 4th set of earphones today. I've had them give way at the ear buds, at the mic, and now at the plug.
The incoming and outgoing sound is excellent! But... Isn't there some way to make a sturdier set that won't continue to come apart with average use?17 of 22 people found this useful

why can't apple make a headset that doesn't fall apart?
Written by ZP from Old Lyme
Nov 12, 2009
Two stars because the sound quality is decent. But I have had 2 of these break in less than a year and I am by no means rough on them! An on going joke in our house is that my husband goes thru headsets like underwear and thanks to the lousy construction of this headset I might catch up with him soon! Seriously Apple, why can't you make the standard headset with the iPhone last longer??

Uhm, it died ?
Written by KW from Brooklyn
Nov 9, 2009
So, the other day, I was listening to my music and one of the poor earphones got caught in my clothing. Suffice to say, before it got caught in my clothing, getting jerked along the way, both earphones worked perfectly. Afterwards, the right side did a total let down and stopped working. I have no idea what happened. I'm really annoyed with the new headphones because they seem so fragile. The side that doesn't house the remote is super stretchy and gives the impression of popping under little tugging. I suppose that's what happened when it got caught in my jacket.
While I love the idea of the new nano and headphones, sometimes I have to wonder because, what if you manage to accidentally mess up your headphones (and no one likes walking around with music in one ear, like me), you can't use another set of normal headphones because it will not work. So, where does that leave you ? Buying a new pair of expensive headphones all the time ?8 of 10 people found this useful

Great idea, but not moisture proof!
Written by RW from Santa Cruz

I love the ease of changing songs, the control on the chord is so nice. But if you workout with them and any moisture gets near the control- the head phones will be toast. Please fix this issue!

Flimsy freebie
Written by RD from Atlanta
Nov 6, 2009
The playback is ok, and the earbuds don't bother me. The mic funciton is great for operating the phone, especially at the gym.
The remote is frustrating. In theory: squeeze once to pause, twice to advance on song. In practice: does not work. Squeezes are not read consistently, so that I will pause instead of advance or nothing will happen at all.
Cord is also sort for tall folks. The earbuds get pulled out easily, especially if turning my head far to once side or stretching. They will not reach my back pocket.10 of 15 people found this useful

Bad fit
Written by KN from Verdun

The piece that came with my iPhone 3GS works well - sound, remote and mic, now into the 3rd month. However, it either keeps falling off my ears or I have to constantly adjust it to keep it from doing so. I expect better from Apple. Do something about the buds!!

Not workout friendly
Written by JB from BROWNSBORO

I've gone through two pairs of these bad boys and both times I had a problem with the rubber lining around the earbuds wearing out quick. I like the idea behind the controls on the wire but it doesn't work anymore.. haven't a clue why. I think it would be more wise to put down a few extra bucks for something nicer.

Absymal at best - D-
Written by MR from Shelley

These headphones came with my iPod Touch 3G 32GB. I am impressed by the remote and mic, but the headphones themselves are terrible. They are uncomfortable, they pop out of my ears while I'm jogging, and they distort lower electric guitar tones - i.e., the song E-Pro by Beck gets all staticy through these headphones... even more so, I dare say, than through the internal speaker. A pair of $10 Sony ear clip earphones I got from Walmart has done me just fine for a year and a half, and they're plugging right into this new iPod. Remote? Mic? Bah, who cares?

Play button broke
Written by GH from Bloomfield Hills
Oct 27, 2009
The controls on these earphones no longer function at all which wouldn't bother me so much if I didn't have an iPod Shuffle! Also, the cheapy plastic ring around the earbuds has been completely worn out. The earphones are about 4 months old.

Bad ear buds
Written by PH from Pleasant Grove
Oct 25, 2009
If these are the same as the original ebs that come with the I phone, they are very shotty. When I first got the iPhone the headphones didn't work at all. After about two or three weeks I thought I'd broken them b/c they made a cracking noise but that's when they actually started working. Now they only work for the iPod. When I get a call no one can hear me when I answer with the ebs. I can no longer adjust volume with them either. Like the last reviewer, they haven't lasted a good three months. Could be much better.
