DO NOT BUY NEW SHUFFLE AS LONG AS IT HAS THESE EARPHONES!
Written by DF from Boise
Sep 29, 2009
I Have many apple products including a Nano and the previous two shuffles. Why are there no controls on the unit. These head phones stop working anytime I start sweating. The controls freeze up and there is no way to turn the volume down/up/ skip songs/pause until about an hour after using. Today i was trying to turn volume down instead I turned it way up and then lost control and had to take the earphones out and go with out music. Glad i spent $80.00 for this piece of junk.

great headphones
Written by PG from Union
Sep 28, 2009
the earphones i bought for my ipod nano 4th gen are very useful because i am able to record college lectures. I bought these to replace my original pair that came with the ipod since my naughty cat decided to chew on them as a toy. The sound quality is excelent and beats previous recorders like the Soni ICD p210 series.
The only suggestion would be if an included earphone case is designed to store them safely rather than having them all tangled.
thank you apple for including very high quality microphones into the; set of original ipod headphones without bulky controls.
Also, they should be more durable and rubery like the JVC headphones for future designs, but otherwise, they are great.
Another suggestion would be a more affordable price for those headphones based on durability.8 of 16 people found this useful

Do not use while working out!
Written by TB from Greer

Sweat gets in the remote and iPod stops responding. Nike+ locks up, stops recording your workout. Use a regular set of headphones instead.

No sound quality at all
Written by JK from Centralia
Sep 25, 2009
sounds very hollow and no bass and detail.
came with my iPhone 3GS and I'm thinking of buying
different kind of ear phone that has better sound quality.
Even my $14 JVC in ear headphone sounds like concert hall compare to kitchen radio of this earphone.
I only like the remote use.8 of 9 people found this useful

Apple let us down
Written by SK from Northville

Headphones work for a couple time then controls stop working. This is my second 3rd gen shuffle in 6 days. First one just stop working. Second one stop working after running on treadmill. I love the functions while they work. Now the shuffle will play the songs, but no controls. I wonder if the person in charge of these headphones has a red bottom. Wow.

Headphones broke on 5th use!
Written by MS
Sep 25, 2009
I am a new user of Apple products.
I have been given a present - Apple Ipod Shuffle.
I really liked it but unfortunately I didn't had the time to use it a lot. My big disappointment was that on the 5th use of this ipod one of my earphones was not working properly and playing pretty poor and snuffing noise. I am really not happy that I have to buy new ones after using these just few times! I am actually still considering if I should buy any apple product anymore as this isn't the quality I expected of a brand with such name.It is even worse I have few friends of mine suffring from the same problem which made me think there is a general issue with Apple headphones.41 of 62 people found this useful

DON'T BUY THEM!!!!
Written by MC from Jackson Heights

the thing with the apple earphones is.. that. they are very bad.... if you are a person that sweats a lot (like me): the earphones will go blank, and you wont be able to listen to anything, one of my ear pieces fell of just by looking at it, and the other one is struggling to survive...
put 20 dollars on other type of earphones.. not on this.40 of 54 people found this useful

Rubber stripping
Written by ID from New York
Sep 23, 2009
Okay, hands down these are the best sounding headphones I've ever had. I use them for my iPod 2G. So, why three stars when the sound quality is the best? Quality. I'm on my third set of headphones in a year. With each one, the rubber fitting that keeps out ambient noise just strips away without warning. I don't work-out in them, and may use them only a few times a week (I have an iPod-ready stereo at home). Still, once the rubber strips off, the sound quality goes with it.
Apple... are you building these things to self destruct so consumers will keep replacing them? Great warranty but, most working people don't have the time to keep going into your store for this issue. I'm guessing you know this, though.48 of 56 people found this useful

Broken out of the Box
Written by DF from Youngsville

The only thing that works is the pause function. No volume control up or down. Producing decent ear buds should not be rocket science for Apple and given the price they ask, there's no economic reason not to produce a better quality product.

I need earphones and mic to work
Written by DS from MINNEAPOLIS
Sep 23, 2009
Has anyone with these earphones got the mic to work?
My IPOD doesn't recognize it when it's plugged in. Also, the only thing that the remote would work is lower the volume and pause. Nothing else would work.
Returned them. I'm using the IPOD Touch 2G.
Any suggestions on where to get a mic other then from these earphones that don't seem to work properly?
Is this the only Mic Apple sells that work with IPOD Touch 2G? Very frustrated, would like to find out.18 of 24 people found this useful

Cherish your original earphones!

The earphones that came with my ipod classic several years ago were fantastic; however the new and improved replacements are aweful. They fall out of the iPhone constantly - they are definitely NOT universal for all things apple.

Useless
Written by AB from Duluth

I am on my second shuffle in 6 months and with both ipods, the earphones stopped working after only a couple workouts. Without the earphone control, the new shuffle is useless. What is the point of a shuffle if it can't withstand a couple runs?

Great if they never see moisture
Written by JD from minneapolis
Sep 22, 2009
These are great at first but once you get any moisture on them they go to junk. I can barely hear anything even with the volume all the way up and the controls don't work. I've gone through two pairs with the same result for both :(

Controls are flaky
Written by EH from Toronto
Sep 22, 2009
The sound is acceptable, if a little light on the bass. However I found that the controls became increasingly unreliable with time, apparently this is a common problem.
My cat decided to solve the issue for me and chew through them, so now I'll be getting the Klipsch Image S4i's.5 of 7 people found this useful

These earphones sound great but they never stay in my ears! I see people running with these earphones but I can't even keep them in my ears when I walk. Apple please do more research and test it out on a variety of users.
