    Great

These headphones came with my 16GB iPhone 3GS and they are amazing right out of the box, great sound quality and the ability to use them to control playback, and other functions of the phone a huge plus. I've read in other comments about bad quality and breakage issues, but I've used these headphones for over a month now without problems, I work in a print shop and even snagged the cord on components from time to time and no breakage. Am truthfully considering the upgrade to the in-ear headphones from apple. Love this product.

    Surprisingly Durable

My new iPod Touch 2nd Gen is my third iPod, and these are the first included headphones I've liked enough to keep using. Not having an iPhone, I don't get a whole lot of use out of the mic--the voice control features aren't that useful to me. However, having volume control, pause, and skip functionality on the headphones makes up for the fact that its pretty hard to control the touch screen when you can't see it. I'm not a hardcore audiophile, but these earbuds sound at least as good as most other models I've tried at similar and somewhat higher price points. In terms of sound quality and features, they merit 3-4 stars, I'd say.

However, I was just impressed this evening with another aspect of them: their resistance to punishment. I accidentally left them in the pocket of a pair of jeans I threw in the wash today. I didn't realize my error until I was changing the load over to the dryer and pulled them out of the mass of wet clothes in the washing machine. I had a sinking dread that I'd completely ruined the things, but brought them upstairs and plugged them in to see anyway. And, to my complete surprise, they still work perfectly! Nicely done Apple.

Apple must be lowering their standards.......

because these are the worst earphones I have ever used. They break from just the slightest rapid movement. I had these only for 15 miutes. I forgot something I needed for work and had to run into the house then to my car. No sweating, didn't snag it on anything, just a little jaunt to the house and back and the remote stopped working. The only thing I can think of was the bouncing movement of the cord when I was running. Very disappointed to say the least. I expected a higher end, quality product based on Apple's reputation. Not the case here. Definitely lowered you standards on this one.

    Incredibly delicate

I was utterly shocked to find these headphones broke after only using them three times. I didn't even think it was possible for them to be so fragile - the left wire seems to have crumbled and shattered. I listen to music at night and the weight of my laptop probably broke it while moving the wire from underneath the laptop.

It's always upsetting to have a new product and then realize how lame it is when they break right out of the box.

So, treat these headphones with kid gloves and they might last you longer than a weekend.

I have only had my headphones for 2 weeks and they were working great other than the volume buttons cause they were not compatible... which I was quite annoyed at. I had hooked them on a chair and they worked fine, I had them on my pockets all night and now only one works. These are my 4 pair of headphones.

     TOO FRAGILE... STILL!!!!

    Written by AW from Antioch

    Oct 7, 2009

I'm on my fifth pair, you think that I (or they) would wise up.

If I were designing a grapple, or an anchor, or some other type of revolutionary hook I would model it after the earbud! Seriously it'll grab or snag anything: clothes, buttons, pockets, collars, clips, cords, itself (noose), sunglasses, that brush you just walked by, hat, seat-belts, hair, shoes, my friends (don't ask), anything and everything it comes in contact with is potentially snagged and as soon as it is tugged or tangled; the wire breaks!!!

The wires are VERY fine to carry the best signal and for that they are the best sounding when new. JUST DON'T DANCE, RUN, WORK, PLAY, EXERCISE, MOVE OR ANYTHING WHEN USING THEM OR THEY WILL BREAK!!!

Get it in gear apple! You made an all new iMac, an all new Macbook air, you quadrupled the number of processors in the mac pro, you completely redesigned all the macbook pros twice, you made a revolutionary mobile phone thrice, you blew through four new iPod designs, and let's not forget EIGHT OPERATING SYSTEMS!!!!! BUT YOU STILL NEVER MADE EARBUDS THAT WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Useless for exercise

    Written by JO from Parker

    Oct 6, 2009

I bought the new iPod Shuffle, which came with these new headphones.

As other reviewers stated, these DO NOT WORK after even a little bit of exercise. After about 10-15 minutes or running, the volume controls go out.... then it's downhill from there.

Since the new Shuffle relies on these headphones to function (No volume or tracking controls on the Shuffle itself) the Shuffle is useless for running as well. A big problem for me since the only reason I bought a Shuffle to go running.

Moral of the story: DO NOT buy these headphones or the new Shuffle if you wish to use it while working out!!!

    bad remote

    Written by JK from Valencia

    Oct 6, 2009

I don't mind anything else and have always been using apple earphone (replacing old ones too) until this recent model with remote. The remote doesn't work properly at all when I go running with my ipod. It changes volume, stopping, and skipping tracks on its own and I think it's really annoying. It would get worse if you have a shuffle, then you can't really fix anything because the remote doesn't work no matter how you press. I think this might have something to do with sweating and movements while I'm running but shouldn't it work better especially when you sort of advertise this with Nike and stuffs. If everybody else doesn't have this problem, I apologize for this, but I've changed the earphone two times and the new ones are doing the same thing.

    Nice fit, nice sound

    Written by TJ from Bartlesville

Bought these for my iPhone since I bought it used without headphones - sound quality is as expected as I've had other Apple headphones for my old iPod, and they fit very well, though I have heard that some people have trouble with keeping them in their ears.

I thought it was a bonus that I would have a mic and remote, but was disappointed that Apple decided to keep that feature exclusive to the 3GS, but that's a complaint to take up with the iPhone 3GS, not the headphones themselves, as I'm still happy with the music quality. It's clear and balanced, and the bass is adequate.

These headphones are PERFECT for running/working out b/c you can control your music w/out having to pull your ipod out your pocket. However, I have had to get 3 pairs in the last 3 months! Luckily they are still under warranty so it hasn't cost me anything. I am not tough on my headphones either. I actually keep them in my old Bose headphone case so they are always protected, but the clicker keeps breaking! I would not spend $30 on headphone that only last a month matter how cool they are.

    Cool Earphones, But Not Durable

    Written by NP

    Oct 4, 2009

Apple makes some impressive things and this is one of them. These nice little earphones fit snuggly in your ear. These earphones are also a little remote so you can scroll through you songs and change the volume. There is also a mic so you can record your voice and answer calls. There is also a button that lets you pause music. The only problem with these headphone are that they are not durable. I had them for five weeks and they broke. I then bought a second pair. These lasted for four weeks. I just got my third pair about two months ago. My headphones are lasting longer because i am taking ALOT of care of them. I hope this is a helpful review to you.

I have had an iPhone for two years now and I love how these headphones control music and you can also use them to talk on the phone, but i have had to buy six pairs ever since I got my first iPhone. At $29 each, I've given up on buying these until Apple upgrades the quality of this product.
