POOR QUALITY IN THE GYM
Written by JM from Uxbridge
Dec 10, 2009
Not good when in the gym or running. Headphones keep falling out. Very aggravating!! I’m not going to spend $79.00 for the upgraded ear phones. Also the sound quality does not even come close to my much older Sony Shock Wave.

DO NOT BUY! GET A SIMILAR HEADSET FROM A DIFFERENT BRAND!
Written by NV from LOS ANGELES
Dec 9, 2009
This is by far the worst product Apple makes. As a DEVOUT mac user, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and after the first pair died, bought another. And then a third, and a fourth. For the third and fourth pair I even bought them at the same time to increase my chances of not getting a set that didn't work - NOPE! both of them were duds. They might work for a bit, or even a few months, but everytime the mic goes out or one of the earpieces dies. THIS PRODUCT IS A HUGE FAILURE ON APPLE'S PART!! YOU MAKE EVERYTHING ELSE GREAT! WHY CAN'T YOU DO THE SAME FOR THIS SEEMINGLY SIMPLE PRODUCT?!?!?!?!?!

Very disappointed
Written by AH from Beavercreek
Dec 9, 2009
To be honest, I love these earbuds. I love the mic, the remote, I just love them. However, the right earbud just stopped working today. I paused the music for a second, and no sound came out of the right side when I turned it back on. Not on my iPod, not on my Mac. I am considering another pair, but from what I've read, they don't last long at all. Apple, I am very disappointed here. I expected much better quality.
(Note: I've had the earbuds for about 3 months - since September.)10 of 15 people found this useful

I haven't even had these for a week and there already broken, all I can hear is the background music the connection made at the stero plug is very poor. It started to mess up yesterday I'd move the plug and it worked properly and today there basicly broken. Dear Apple get your heads out of your you know whats for $30 stop making cheap china stuff . Dont worry though under my 2 year plan you will be getting all my broken headphones, but I will never buy a set from you guys intill you make them good.

Worst Apple Product Ever
Written by JH from CHULA VISTA
Dec 8, 2009
I love and have Apple everything but these are the worst headphones ever! They may stay in your ear if you are knitting, but any activity at all causes them to fall out. Plus once you start to sweat it runs down the cord and affects the control device. It will start activating on its own, changing songs, raising the volume, or talking to you in that voice, "playlist 1, playslist 2".
Don't buy it, and don't buy an iPod shuffle until they redesign the headphones if you wan to use it to work out with. Unless you don't sweat!6 of 12 people found this useful

remote goes bad and earphone hurts ear :-(
Written by NR from Bensenville
Dec 8, 2009
There's no question that Apple makes GREAT products but this one has missed the mark.
The earphones that came with the iPod touch I bought about 3 months ago have needed to be replaced 4 times due to the remote ceasing to function. The earphone itself is also not good, at least for my purposes. I am an audiobook listener so I wear the earphones for hours at a time almost everyday. I'm not sure what it is about the earphone's shape or material but the area that was in contact with the earphone caused great pain in my ear that lasted for days after I stopped using them and went to an in ear bud type of earphone from a third party.
The saving grace in all of this is that the earphones that I kept replacing didn't cost me a dime and the 3rd party earphones (with and w/o remote) selection is quite vast.8 of 14 people found this useful

Good quality, but breaks easily
Written by RB from Flossmoor
Dec 7, 2009
I bought these headphones and they worked wonderfully, but a month or so later, the right headphone (the one with the clicky thing) stopped working. The clicky thing still worked, but not the headphone. Very good sound quality, but breaks eassily. I will most likely stop buying ipod brand headphones since mine keep breaking. Buy a cheap brand from Best Buy, they will last longer in the long run

These are awesome and I love how you can record your voice on it! I just got and iPod touch and these are the best. I wasn't expecting a microphone! If it broke it was probably your fault because these have lasted me a month and a half already- first try.

Not a good product
Written by MF from Cranberry Township
Dec 6, 2009
Purchased these ear buds November 14, 2009. The first pair were broken in the package. The second pair worked until December 3, 2009. Shabby craftsmanship. With an iPod shuffle, you are limited to earbuds with the remote-at $29.99 a pop - this is going to get expensive!!!

Apple earphones with mic are the worst Apple products one could ever have. My uncle who has a iPhone has gone through the nightmare 3 times. With every earphone with mic headset, the mic fails after using it for like 4 or 5 months. I would suggest everyone to go with some other earphone with mic headset than Apple's.

NO!
Written by CG from Dallas

I bought my iPhone 3Gs a little over a month ago and the left ear bud is already about to stop working! I love the fact that it has a mic for the cold days or when I'm busy, but I already have to invest in new ones. At this rate I'll be giving Apple $30 bucks a month for headphones that don't last.

Earbuds for 3GS
Written by TS from SHOW LOW
Dec 2, 2009
These are terrific earbuds, except......
The sound is good, the fit is good, the remote buttons work flawlessly, but they simply don't last. I wear my iPhone for about 15 hours a day and the earbuds last for a month or so. Typically one earpiece starts sounding distorted or quits altogether. Good thing I bought the Apple Care Extended Plan as Apple happily sends me a new set overnight FedEx every time they go bad. When they work, they work great, but they just don't work for long. If it weren't for the fact that Apple replaces them instantly, I would rate them far lower.31 of 36 people found this useful

Amazing, except the right earphone!
Written by MW from Winfiled
Dec 1, 2009
These wonderful earphones are the only type of earphone that actually stay in my ears! The only problem is that after about 3/4 of a year, the right earphone stopped working, not completely, but you have to crank it up to hear! I hardly ever have both in anyways because i'm always talking to friends. Besides this minor difficulty, the earphones are superb sound quality and I would suggest them to everyone!

Not Worth It
Written by TS from Brampton
Dec 1, 2009
The sound quality is acceptable, but definitely on the low end. The problem however, is the extremely short lifespan. I use these no more than 3 hours each day, and after a couple months, they begin to break down. First, I lose bass, then they stop working. Even when I take good care of the, and avoid moisture, they still manage to break. I've gone through three pairs in the last year, and I've had enough.

WOW nice :D Works with Newer Ipods and Newer MACS
Written by MF from Pomona
Dec 1, 2009
First of all I got these because if the convenience of the remote and mic, since it’s compatible with my iPod Model. Then I got curious, and searched on apple if they would work with newer macs, and they did! Now i can use the mic to control my volume and itunes, the same way I can with my ipod, in addition to that, it might double as a mic as well.
I highly recommend these headphones for newer iPods and Macs alike.

Don't use these for exercise
Written by EW from Bountiful
Dec 1, 2009
Despite the fact that Nike+ iPod is built into the iPhone and iPod Touch--promoting the devices for exercise use--these earphones aren't up to snuff for that use. Any--and I mean ANY--sweat or moisture shorts out the remote control and causes all kinds of havoc. Not only do functions on the remote stop working, but the headphones will cause the iPod to randomly start, electronically suppress the volume unless re-plugged in or clicked multiple times, cause songs to skip or fast forward, or cause the iPod to constantly enter into voice command mode etc.
I've been through two pairs with very light and limited use in exercising and both have shorted out within two weeks with very little contact with sweat--we're talking a single drop of sweat rolling down the cord and hitting the remote section. Weren't these tested for their intended use?!?
Vastly overpriced and vastly under engineered. I love Apple products and have been a loyal Apple customer for almost two decades now. This is the worst Apple product I've encountered.
I love the idea and it was perfect for exercise while it lasted, but these headphones are a waste of money.15 of 15 people found this useful

be prepared to buy a pair of these every year
Written by HL from New York
Dec 1, 2009
these are decent headphones - until they break, that is. they last about a year. apple should sell them for 9.99; then maybe they'd be worth it. if i could find similar headphones with a mic for the iphone from a different company, i'd be trying out those. right now i guess i just have to throw away 29.99 every year. come on apple, you can do better than this.
