Like others who've posted here, I'm having to return this item because it's the wrong size for my MacBook. Before ordering, I checked 'About this computer' but it didn't say what kind of display hardware I had (just told me that no display was connected), so I examined the photos of the adapter and, as it looked the same as the display port on my MacBook, I assumed that it would fit okay. When it arrived, though, it was way too small (mini, I guess).

So, for anyone who has a plain old white MacBook like mine - it DOES NOT HAVE A MINI DISPLAY PORT, so don't waste your time and money ordering this.

I feel annoyed with Apple for not explaining the difference between an ordinary display port and a mini one. I'm not a techie and I don't want to have to go and dig out all the literature before buying a small accessory - I expect there to be enough information within the product description for me to make the right choice.

And I still don't know which (if any) adapter's compatible with my MacBook.

i bougt this 4 months ago. it worked great at first but the vga has a short. it seems the adapter was made poorley . if there is a cheeper alternative i strongly suggest looking into it. brand isn't everything.

The adapter shorted out just before a public presentation. Unreliability isn't cool. I suggest Apple sell these in pacts of six, and at the current price of 1.

I am a university professor and I use my adapter three times a week, four hours a day. I have gone through three in since September. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't...not a good situation when you have to lecture to 200+ students and there are no images to display.

I have a LG LED LCD TV model 32LS4600.ATR
When I was told that mini display port to HDMI converter will enable me to watch streaming videos on internet on my TV screen, I purchased one. However, the audio is absent. I have tried almost all tricks within my knowledge but to no avail. The video is excellent but no audio. Now I am advised that since a VGA input is available in the TV, I should buy MDP2VGA converter cable and watch the video and for the audio I should connect the TV through another cable. I want to know whether Mini Display Port carries audio signal or not. My Mac Book Pro is Mid 2012 model.

I only had it for a month and then it would stop working. Bad quality for such an expensive adapter.

It worked fine at first, then one day as I was disconnection it from the MiniDisplay port on my MacBook Pro, the plastic came apart from the wire slightly. It still works but now there are lines across my secondary monitor and when I first plug it in, I have to wiggle the wire around for a minute in order to get the other screen to turn on. If I bump into it on accident, the secondary monitor will lose signal and turn off momentarily.

Compared to other Apple products, this adapter is very low quality.

Doesn't work with most LCD projectors.

I'm having similar issues with my macbook pro since June when I bought it. Eventually fed up, I took the macbook pro back. The geniuses at the Apple store could not find the problem so they sent it somewhere else to be evaluated. Once there, they put in a new hard drive and system board. Guess what, still having the same problem. Using the same cable on my old macbook never presented this problem. If I restart the computer it freezes and won't boot. I'm beginning to regret the purchase of my $1,600 computer when I could've bought a cheaper one that works. Quality is definitely suffering since the service at the genius bar only made me mad when they basically told me that if they can't simulate the problem in the store I'm out of luck. Maybe this review is more of a reflection of the macbook pro itself and not the adaptor. But, when I buy any product especially from Apple (with premium prices), I expect it to work consistently. This is far from my experience.

Bought to plug into Panasonic 42" monitor and it does not work, tested vga and monitor with PC and it worked fine.

Return wire not sure why it wont work the same.

Avoid if you are not using it with apple hardware. Waste of time and $.
